  • i have a maths teacher called Mr McKenzie, He aint nice enough to write a song to though :p

  • I love it,what a cool rhythmic pop song! You're the real deal sweet Mary! You have music in you, beautiful gifts of writing singing and playing, You capture the listener,I wanna hear what you have to sing about when you perform. I get so into it. This is a cool song,Very interesting chords you use,a nice melody and I love how you did the lyrics here, sometimes repeating the line and giving us great imagery. I love everything about you Mary! You're the most adorable looking cutest girl too. ;)))

  • Mary U R the Best! I luv U!

  • bluwng, I enjoy your support too!

  • Mary- this is such a nice song and great performance. The video quality is awesome!

  • TheNebakanezer, I'm stoked you commented on my video quality, thank you, thank you !!! I'm also glad you enjoyed my song.

  • Oh, and though It might sound like I´m on drugs I have to try and describe the feeling I get when I listen to the song. It is played soft and it is only you and your acoustic guitar. But it feels really heavy in a way. It´s like a reallity where nothing is what it seems. You see the pillow comming against your face expecting it to be soft. But when it hits you it feels like a frying pan. (weird example, but I can´t come up with something better right now)

  • johndetdu, I refrain from judging people by their habits ;) I could have never expected receiving such image filled words. Mr. Mckenzie is a song I'm working on layering - will take me a long while. You honestly seem to enjoy my voice whereas I believe it needs tremendous work in many departments, thank you for inspiring me.

  • Everybody can improve on their voice. BUT! There is more then one side to the subject of singing. When I recorded a band once I was in the situtation where I had to choose between using a take where the singer sang correct in the right key, and one where he was off key but the tone and feeling was amazing.

  • johndetdu, thanks once more for your deep recognitions. I am a songwriter first and foremost and I thank you for looking past the technical side of my voice and listening to the song, it's message. I'm real appreciative.

  • One has to be modest about how humble to be.

Just to get things straight, you have a good level if we talk about technique.

A piece of wood can be crafted and polished to perfection by hand but at the same time be dull and uninterresting. The imperfection and marks left by nature is often far more beautiful.

As you said the space is narrow to convey ones thoughts. The bottomline is that the best way on improving is to sing much and often. Not to sing in a way somebody else tells you.

  • What I am trying to say by that is this: Correct breathing, support and the right key is important. But what is more important is tonality, expression and feeling. That is what makes something original and lets loose the magic. There are many people who learns how to sing by impersonating their favorite artist. Some learn it by taking lessons. There are several thousands of singers that sound exactly the same.

  • johndetdu, your very wise statements are in fact my reality. I damn well know that I can't sing pitch perfect or support certain notes a bit longer than I'd like to but yup passion takes the cake. You are amazing for saying these complicated knowings in plain concise text. I think I would have to be in a good face to face conversation to exchange such words with another musician. You rock.

  • People get recognition because they sing in key or by the fact that they sound like something the listener recognises. Your voice is original and I can hear that it is you and nobody else that sings when I listen to you.

That is more important than any singing techniques. So just keep on making great songs and just be you.

  • johndetdu, that you would post such words leaves me jaw agape! There seriously aren't that many people who really understand what you are describing, just 2000 very sweet subscribers of mine I think ;) But your words are exactly the ones in my mind!!

  • Wow, there is so much to say. For me there is a one syllable hook. How you sing "walking" is out of this world. It flutters. And the rest of the break is outstanding! I beg you to make another version where you have "I remember walking...." Repeated a couple of more times in the song. Then the song would be longer and I wouldn´t have to hit the play button so many times :)

  • johndetdu, I'm speechless, except these seven words :)

  • The chords you use are very interesting, it makes your song very profound. Excellent song, as usual !

  • DavidClerk, a very kind description to receive from you Mr. Talented :)

  • Great song. 5 stars, fantastic.

    Keep up the good work.

    Matt

  • madness4life, thank you for noting my song Matt.

  • raykia2000, I'm so glad you enjoyed this song =)

  • great job!!!! :)

  • RodneySTR, thank you :)

  • Great Job Mary, A perfect mystical spring time tune.

    How is Mr. McKenzie ?

Happy Spring the best time. It gets me going & growing.... !

    How bout you ?

  • crawleykakes, Mr. Mckenzie is probably pretty full I suppose. The spring rains must have the river's level rising with each week. You and Clance must enjoy the spring, butterflies to chase and prettier sights to take in.

  • Lovely as always, your tunes stay in my head for days and this will be no exception. By the way, what's with the turkey?

  • robertmillion, there is a lot of music to listen to and I'm thankful you stop by my songs for a listen. Turkey was visiting on christmas day, not at my house though, I do have a pudgy rat visitor that lives off seeds from below my bird feeders :")

  • In your sweet rare form,as always! No rain here, but it's raining stars! *****

  • tps607, aw shucks, you!!

  • Simple yet effectively conveys your musical message.

  • Guitars4US, your sentence is concise and yes indeed I am simple to almost to a point where is starts to handicap me :D

  • With all the comments and all the fans...it takes while to locate the comment to reply to. Must be a sign of success.

I am impressed with your devotion.

  • Guitars4US, why thank you =D

  • You're a legend did you know that Mary? Amazingly done! again! lol .. You're a good composer also!

    Bless YOu

  • Boichuahsang, I was unawares of my legendary standing, lol - I am happy you recognize me as a composer, that's a real compliment.

  • asturiasverde, you've listened to my songs for a long period of time, thank you for your YT style support.

  • Another great song from you Mary!I just love listening to your voice...Keep writing!

  • stevezane, will keep at it, I'm pleased the song could entertain you :)

  • nice one Mary,...i hope YouTube isn't freezing YOUR view counter too

  • ...love those off-key chords (is that your turkey)

  • ruotze, the turkey would be from my partner's mother's house during christmas time. I get a cute pudgy rat visitor stealing seeds from below my bird feeders, haha. Not as awesome as receiving up to seven lovely turkey visitors. But then again I live in the city. Yep youtube always freezes the view counters here and there, they've made a lot of terrible changes lately in design.

  • I enjoy your music so much!!

  • ridrid96, thank you sir, regards to you.

  • please keep making music. i always feel better after seeing your videos. such a nice pleasant voice. no pretension. and always a lovely smile. thank you.

  • strokedonce, you really think so. My, I'm touched. There are just a handful who think so. Thank you.

  • What does oyrteyrtyetryetry mean?

  • nztman, my wireless apple keyboard was not connecting *very frustrating* so I allowed the result of my impatience remain at the tail end of my video title :D

  • Nice one!

I think im gonna put that long with the other titles like Mean Mr Mustard, Elenor ridgsby, now Mr Mkenzie !

Nice f# scale, dissonant and fun to listen to!

    No mary, thank you! haha

  • jabberwolf, I must say your song choices are Nice. F# and C please me greatly. No B, thank you =)

  • B cause? ;-)

  • I know you are quality because I am jealouse of your talent! I wish I had written this song. The chords are overwhelmingly enchanting, and will surely haunt me for the next two weeks or so! I love the colorfully vague nuances of your storybook lyrics, too. You're the Queen of the 7th chords, squeezing out every juicy, harmonic dissonance they offer. You definately are a genre bender as you defy all classification - and that's a big plus with me! You must be feeding your Muse well. Peace ~Jon

  • Oh Jon, I'm not supposed to be on YT at this moment - rather putting the hours on my music but your comment was too wonderfully humorous and well intentioned. "Queen of the 7th chords, squeezing out every juicy, harmonic dissonance they offer" won't forget that one anytime soon ;) Sometimes I take on being manly man, hope that's cool ;)

  • I'm glad you responded, but far let it be said that I distracted you from posting more yummy music. Now... get back to your craft! Chop, chop! ;-)

  • Great work, Mary. You never fail to impress with your picking skills, lyrical genius, well balanced vocals, and of course, your humbleness as you present it all. Very well done, and thank you so much for sharing your creativity with all of us! = )

  • 80sDream, I could hardly take credit for being a good finger picker, lol! I'm grateful for each aspect you noted in my song. Your time is well appreciated.

  • Very nice Mary. Interesting chord structure in this song... really nice song. ((HUGS))

  • slammyjammy38, my chord philosophy has remained, "if it sounds good and feels good to you". Dissonance makes for a happy marywinmusic :)

  • Good original song, and beautifully sung.

  • raymondcrooke, I'm glad you enjoyed this piece, it came from the same time period as my work "Just Fall Back".

  • another favorite from my favorite

  • nt0xik8ed, thumbs up to your kind words.

  • Hi Mary, another nice song. You look so relaxed - I always kinda freak in front of a camera LOL.

And pardon me for asking-whats with the rooster??!!- Is that Mr. McKenzie !?!?

  • tommyA350, hey-o! I'm thankful for your support. Mr Mckenzie isn't the turkey though that would be a pretty cool name for a turkey. I'll know her as such from now on :D

  • beautiful song. :)

  • gersing, thank you so much :)

  • Well done Mary. It's nice to see you're uploading regularly again.

  • ianaramsey, you betcha =D tomorrow shall bring more to ze table.

  • Another great song thanks for sharing. some interesting sounding chords too i like. Mr Mckenzie sounds a bit like Mr MacGregor from the Peter Rabbit stories!

  • davemorag1, I remember those books and cherished the drawings on each page as a child. Awesome that you are also a fan of Peter Rabbit.

  • Terrific Mary. I love the progression on the lines like "I steal the pansies that you caught."

  • Oswlek, thank you for quoting my lyrics =)

  • love it

  • tsjoencinema, happy you came to listen :)

  • Hi!!! This is Mr. McKenzie....

Thank you for such a beautiful song.....

  • jmhazel1, glad you enjoyed it Mike. Your bluesy style is music to my ears =)

  • Great song! Wow, this one has some great unusual chords in it. I really like the sound of it, very cool!

  • ScribbleTunes, hello Lene :) I'm so happy to receive your comment - - - > thank you!

  • Sweet! What inspired you to write this?

  • Indiag1994, I really appreciate your interest. I took home a pick from a guitar shop named McKenzie River Music while visiting Oregon during a camping trick back in 2006. I bought a capo which consequently and surprisingly drained my bank account. And while I was starving I wrote this song for free :)

  • Neat!!! Capos are awesome...which brand do you have?

  • Indiag1994, my favorite capo brand is the 'G7th' so quick/easy to use and maintains intonation pleasingly well- though people with large hands complain about the overhanging edge colliding with their performance. The brand 'Kyser' is great for capo-ing five out of six strings if you're experimenting with tunings.

  • Awesome! I love my kyser..another question, have you ever used a short-cut capo?

  • Indiag1994, you know I've been thinking about getting one but I have not experienced using one yet. I think a short cut capo might be nice to experiment with, find different sounds in open tunings, ah yes, could be sweet.

  • AGREED! Haha I so need to try one, I have a magazine and it shows worship songs that combine full capos and short-cut ones...so if I want to play those songs, I suppose I should buy a short-cut :P

  • Indiag1994, best of experiences to you with short cut capos. Let me know how it goes for you *if you remember* I know investing in gear can take a while ;)

  • Thanks and ya gear can take a while ugh! hahah I am looking for an acoustic-electric, so I also need to look for an amp, microphone, appropriate pick-ups and cables to connect everything its actually rather tiring :P

  • Indiag1994, hehe funny you share the same experiences. Much online research must take place. For everything you desire I recommend the Genz Benz Shenandoah 100. It has served me so well the last three years as a performing singer songwriter I would buy a new one each time it got stolen. 1 guitar channel, 1 vocal channel, has great effects, fills up any medium sized cafe, you can run cables out the back into a laptop and record your Live shows too! Such a deal.

  • Thanks Mary! And ya I need all the electric gear and stuff cause I am planning on leading worship in a few months, so I am not sure if they want me to bring my own gear or if I can use theirs....

  • It does not get any better than this!

A great voice with an acoustic guitar

  • Daffyd23, I'm so glad you enjoy my style, thank you!

  • I had a soccer coach named Mr. McKenzie. He was cool. So is this song. =D

  • cyberwanderer, that's an awesome fact Alex! Thank you for sharing about yourself.

  • i really like that song- nice one!

  • sullyrock, aw you're a nice one! thank you so much!

  • Now there is a bunch of songactors like Mr.McKenzie, JimLayne, Iggy and Irie!

Is Jupiter also part of them all? Eventually there will be one day a great novel with all

from Mary Win invented nice characters? Only a little fun Mary. Again a good

song and nice idea. Alone the title of the song makes inquisitive!

    - your friend MMM

  • Isnt that ironic, at this moment? Im finishing off the peach cobbler pie I made the day before yesterday. We shall indulge together then eh?:)

  • willythewave, mmm... peach cobbler is a delightful treat. I think many YouTubers indulge together unawares :D

  • Thank you Mary Win for another fine song hun, Im assuming this is an original, is it?
