I have felt a connection to all things Pagan for a long time and I know at the very least my bloodlines come fro England|Europe but it his hard to believe in any other set of deities because none of them have ever returned from the dead as Jesus Christ did that is what separates Christianity and it's God from all other deities.

I am glad that there's finally starting to be real change with Asatru in the modern world. The majority of people think of it as silly and that only small cult-like sects practice such things. Not promoting it, just pointing out that there are in fact other books that "set forth a religion" very completely. There are many in fact and the selection based on the book itself seems very arbitrary.
Scientology comes to mind as well.
The tenets of a particular religion weighed against our observable reality would seem a better evaluation strategy.

I am glad that there's finally starting to be real change with Asatru in the modern world. The majority of people think of it as silly and that only small cult-like sects practice such things. Mr. McNallen is making real effort that will lead to real progress and change. I have been a solitary practitioner of the old ways for quite some time and I'm glad to find others like myself. The one thing I really can't stand about some people in our faith is that they think that they have to say every word like the ancient pagans did. That fake Old Norse accent really irritates me, and it makes the person using it look foolish. If we want to be considered more than the religious version of D&D (and some people do think of Asatru and Paganism in general as such), then we need to look and be as serious as possible. The fake Norse accents must go.

I am not arguing for others to validate my religion. I don't care if people think Asatru is a cult. Christianity was once known as a cult. But the matter of labels is inconsequential to me. All i am arguing for is that a soldier has the right to honor his choice of religion and I feel that the government should recognize it. my point in citing the rotten apples is that one can not argue that the government shouldnt allow a soldier use a religous symbol simply because some racists use it.

@EsLebeDeutschland855 i have a friend who's studied icelandic and i believe old norse as well - icelandic being very close to old norse. how mr mcmillan pronounces norse just sounds like norse pronounced by an american; doesn't sound anything like icelandic. i don't speak icelandic myself, tho it was taught on a few lessons at school. i do speak swedish.

I agree with you. Language shouldn't be considered a barrier that separates us from the Gods.
Take the example of the Suebi: they were an ancient germanic tribe that worshiped the Aesir and the Vanir (probably) and they migrated to the Iberian Penninsula.
Once there, they quickly adopted the native languages, but they remained Heathens until 466 CE (they arrived circa 416CE).
As you can see, language has nothing to do with religion, except for the names of the Deities.
