  • this series is a bit over the top and inaccurate

  • it must be a really hard to live like that i just saw the 3 video and it shock me..

  • Just been watching these videos.... My son has ASD, he's only 4 though and he doesn't talk, just repeats random words, so we have no idea how he is actually feeling other then when he has meltdowns. I wish these adverts would be put onto television though because alot of people do not understand and just assume he is being naughty

  • My son has ASD he's 10 I understand. Find out whats making him have the meltdowns. What happens before the meltdown. Try to avoid whatever it is. But let him know that that not how you handle that situation. Preferably after he's calmed down good after the meltdown. He may not talk but he hears you and understands. Never forget that. My son started says 3 words sentences at like 4 1/2 now I sometimes wont to tell him to shut up lol Keep talking to him. Never believe what he can't do.

  • Oh, of course, the fetal position. God damn I hate infomercials that stereotype.

  • Have you called an ambulance? HAAAVE YOU CAALLED AN AAAMBULAAANCE?????

    LOL

  • Wow, you can actually SEE him trying to put the puzzle pieces together in his head. The blood, the car, OVERLOAD!

And then those people repeating and raising their voices so fast :S Poor guy...

    Very well put together!

  • wow

  • This is a great example. It is extremely accurate. I wish they had commercials like these in my area. I am a huge supporter of autism understanding.

  • wow, very well-done ads, thanks for raising awareness.

  • I have autism too.

  • Some with Asperger's are fortunate enough to have a job because our I.Q.'s are average or above average. Sensory overload and going into shutdown or meltdown is not synonymous with intelligence.I have Asperger Syndrome and do not share this character's luxary of realitive independence due to auditory hyper-acute sensitivity that has even become phobic. Walk a mile in our shoes...if you dare...if you care.

  • They can't and usually don't want to.

As a boy told me in public school "You're the retard so that no one else has to be."

  • Poor guy....I'd be seared too.

  • I thought British have better manner by not yelling?

Yelling would increase and heighten fear in people who have cognitive impairment.

  • While I can fathom an autistic (myself) calmly calling the ambulance, my first reaction would be to go take a look. It's an accident - of course it's interesting! Actually I didn't even think about the ambulance thing until I read the comments; autistics can and often do end up focussing on certain details, and personal variation must be taken into account.

  • Asperger's is autism.

  • Asperger Syndrome is a high-functioning form of autism. I should know, I have it.

  • @autisticaplanet Same here!

  • well sort of

aspergers is a form of autism

but no it's not a diffrent name for autism

  • Everything is soo intense thats the great part filmed in this clips, but aspergers can block everything out in this situations and be extremely calm to cal the ambu.

  • I highly disagree with this one, an autistic person (and this guy appears to be some sort of professional) would be calmly dialing emergency services while everyone else is reacting emotionally

  • I highly disagree with this one, an autistic person (and this guy appears to be some sort of professional) would be calmly dialing emergency services while everyone else is reacting emotionally

  • Well, the crash was pretty loud. I probably would have done the same thing the man in the video did. We are capable of calmly dialing emergency help, but not when we are in a state of sensory shock, like this video displays.

  • The video doesn't say all autistics react that way, but that autistics can react in ways that can be hard to understand .

    ;)

In a situation like this, I wouldn't even be able to speak!

  • I don't know, why my comment showed up at the top, it was meant as a reply to the commentor, who said: "I disagree, an autistic would have called the ambulance, whereas everyone else would react emotionally"

  • This is one I can relate to, as I have AS and although Im not as bad as the bloke, I can still be reactive to noises such as people shouting and being loud, screaming children, and the sound of loud bangs.

  • Why do they always show asperger people? Not enough is shown about people with severe autism!!!!!!

  • I would love to hear more from autistics at the lower end of the spectrum.

  • Nagme, he doesn't have Asperger Syndrome. He is HFA or PDD-Nos, no Asperger Syndrome have that problem with cognitive that bad.

  • Oh!!! So you are an expert are you???? I'm not an expert but i live with it every day and i personaly also know asperger people and some of them would act like this.

  • Check my video NAGME *show brain I am autistic too. :)

It just little bit overcook as a chef would say.

  • I have Asperger's Syndrome, and I have problems this bad.

  • if it was someone with severe autism then they would have someone with them most of the time

  • In a perfect world.

  • I have to say that I really like this series of videos - this is just what autism can be! Thank you so much!

Do you have one on how to be with a girlfriend? That is something my son with Aspergers struggles with...
