  • The K stands for Krap!

  • why was front wheel drive such a big deal at this time?

  • @datpimpinboy marketing, mostly. There was the space efficiency of not having a drive-shaft and before traction control and ABS, there were handling and braking advantages in wet and icy conditions.

  • @vpole Oh okay I guess that makes sense

  • @datpimpinboy Simply, there werent many FWD family cars back then. Most were tiny cars, like Colt and Tercel.About the only serious competition was the GM X-cars and they were horrible.

  • @hpspeedster Yeah I figured. It's just kinda weird because you would imagine FWD has always been more popular since it's easier to make

  • @hpspeedster X- Cars were NOT Horrible. Yes When first Introduced they had rear brake problems and steering racks going out but they were good cars. I Have one. an excellent shape 1985 buick skylark Limited and It's been a Damn Good car. not one complaint. Looks Brand new to, The K-cars were better than the Early X-Cars but after that They both were good cars. Cars like the 84' Tempo when introduced had Much more trouble than Any X-car did
