@charliebell01, actually, marijuana has shown anti-cancer properties :). As well as having significant evidence in it's favor for brain cell growth promotion. The tests in the early 70s done by Nixon were cheated as they would suffocate monkeys with up to 60 joints in a 10 minute period.

Of course smoke isn't great for you! BUT, marijuana has also shown tumor reducing properties, it opens up the blood vessels in your body unlike tobacco, and our brains have perfect cannibonoid receptors developed through millions of years of evolution. Our brains were built to receive THC.

The definition of a drug is a substance that is ingested to cure or prevent an illness/disease. You're ingesting weed to make yourself feel better, therefore it's a drug. I think some people are missing the point of the debate. It's not that marijuana is right or good to use; it's that it is an impingement on our freedom to restrict anyone from responsible use. It is also an economic burden on the taxpayers who have to pay for the jailing of people caught with marijuana, not to mention the manpower wasted on apprehending them and filing the paper work. In short, it requires an unnecessary expansion of government power over the lives of private citizens.
