listen here kiddo.......as much as i like the corvette z06/zr1......you can pick up a 996 turbo for 40k throw in 15-20 grands and make it a stage 4 700-800hp.Frankly at that power its going to leave bus lengths on a zr1.Not to mention the porsche drives a lot better then the vette and the build quality is way more superior....vette falls apart in 1 year ownership literally....so bottom line you can get the porsche for the half price of the vette and be more faster and more class.

@thevettedude66 the twin turbos are necessary on the Porsche "Turbo" trim, since this trim was built with a low compression engine... the "GT3" series are Naturally Aspirated so they're built to have higher compression... Nonetheless, the Corvette z06 is a beasty naturally aspirated 7.0L v8 "vs" a way smaller 3.8L 6 cyl. twin turbo Porsche... i think its fair.. and why turbo the vette??? Corvette got great results from a supercharger system.. hence the ZR1..

The vette's engine is twice the size and that 911 is 2 generations old. The vette's interior is worse then a VW golf that costs 20 grand.
Its still a great performance car, but that all it is, and thats why the Porsche costs more. Every part of the interior is handbuilt to your specs. JD power has Porsche at number one for highest initial quality, so don't give me that bullshit that the vette is built beter. The GT2 came in 3rd! Not so impressive for a car that costs over $200,000 and people worship as the king of the road, it isnt even the Queen of the Road, but then most who drive the GT2 arent really sure of their gender either, so its the perfect ride for them. you are comparing a gt2 wich has 530 hp with a zr1 wich has 640 hp (100 hp over the porsche) . Btw, a gt2 goes from 0-60 in 3.6 sec and a zr1 in 3.4. I think is kinda close. Anyway, two great cars no doubt

What an excellent comment! The ZR1 runs .72 bar or 10.5 psi of boost stock. The GT2 runs .9 bar or 13.12 psi of boost stock. So yes the GT2 is running a little more boost stock, but my issue with the vette is not boost but displacement, 6.2L v8 for the vette and 3.6L flat 6 for the Porsche. If the vettes going to have a 40% bigger engine its only fair that Im running bigger boost and the vette will lose No question! Im not looking for advantage, just equality, cant have it both ways.

I don't think so, it's one of the fastest suspension system in the world, only 0.001 second to adapt suspensions with the driving type... The vette's engine is twice the size and that 911 is 2 generations old. The vette's interior is worse then a VW golf that costs 20 grand.
Its still a great performance car, but that all it is, and thats why the Porsche costs more. Every part of the interior is handbuilt to your specs. JD power has Porsche at number one for highest initial quality, so don't give me that bullshit that the vette is built beter. Not saying its built bad but the porsche is not built poorly either, not even close.

No dream, just 109 octane VP fuel. The ZR1 is the corvette that should be compared to the GT2, and Motor Trend Mag. did compare them and a couple other contenders...and the ZR1 crushed them all. The GT2 came in 3rd! Not so impressive for a car that costs over $200,000 and people worship as the king of the road, it isnt even the Queen of the Road, but then most who drive the GT2 arent really sure of their gender either, so its the perfect ride for them. Either lower the boost on the porsche or raise it on the corvette, and see what happens. What an excellent comment! The ZR1 runs .72 bar or 10.5 psi of boost stock. The GT2 runs .9 bar or 13.12 psi of boost stock. So yes the GT2 is running a little more boost stock, but my issue with the vette is not boost but displacement, 6.2L v8 for the vette and 3.6L flat 6 for the Porsche. If the vettes going to have a 40% bigger engine its only fair that Im running bigger boost and the vette will lose No question! Im not looking for advantage, just equality, cant have it both ways.

I don't think so, it's one of the fastest suspension system in the world, only 0.001 second to adapt suspensions with the driving type... The ZR-1 and the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V use this system, and unfortunatly for you they are faster on the Ring than the whole production car.

Corvettes are fast no doubt, BUT it is just a massive motor pulling a POS chassis with some 50 year old suspension. GM still uses leaf springs on the z06 c'mon thats just crap. Porsche on the other has not ever designed a car for looks, every car is designed with Function placed higher than Form. Porsche's engineering and build quality is far higher than ANY American made car. That 911 turbo would destroy any Z06 or Zr-1 on the track PERIOD.

the 911 turbo was design for speed, handling, luxury, and more technologies. so, of course it will cost more than the C6 ZO6.
and the C6 ZO6 was design for mostly speed, handling, and looks. so it will be cheaper than the 911 turbo.
I love both GM and Porsche, but for me personally i would rather have the C6 ZO6 over the 911 turbo, that's just me though.

You know, I used to be like you before, a fanatic of Porsche and European manufacturers, but for the Cayman S price you can have a Z06, the Corvette is older than 911, they are often compared because they exist since a long time, the Vette is the american sport car and the 911 is the European number one, but even if I like the 911, I prefer my Z06. the viper has very low water jacket area and has been well known for overheating. As amatter of fact, i think i found a blog the other day about this guy going either 255 or 265 in the winter when he dropped by the mechanic for exhaust problems which he had said melted the fiberglass around the door. A civ and por can sound identical after mods because the porsche is the same thing, A small suped up engine. I bet if you spend 80K on a vi, you can spend that on a civ & beat a vip ever aspect.

In time that will change. Corvette never started competing with Ferrari and high end Porsche til' about 2006,(Since the 60's) when the Z06 came out. If GM is still around and making these Vette supercars then over time the expectations for them will change. The ZR-1 will help that alot, too. Around here it is a well known fact the a Z06 is something to be reckoned with and that only $150k+ Euro cars can compete with.

yea you can turn porsche....did u know the 7 litter z06 can handle up 2200 hp.. thats impossible in a 3.6 l porsche
