I discovered you while searching for Seaside Heights. Great home videos and unboxings. I was wanting an inexpensive video camera that took good video and you helped me settle on the Kodak Playsport. IMO it's like combining the Kodak Zi8 and Flip MinoHD. I think the Xacti takes slightly better video and you can flip the screen back on youself, but the Playsport is water proof and can be dropped in your shirt pocket just peeking out so you can take video on your vacation without even holding it.

Be sure to update your firmware if it isn't already. The new firmware helps with IS and also smooths out the zoom. I have a Zi8 myself. Love it. Congrats, dude. =]

Spec wise, the Kodak Zi8 is better and more feature rich. I haven't used a Flip camera yet, so I honestly couldn't tell you. However I can say that the Zi8 is definitely worth a purchase! Very impressive so far.

If you need to focus to something between the range of macro and landscape you can gently push the focusing switch with your nail to enable you to manually focus the camera without it clicking into macro or landscape mode.

It seems like a great camera, except for one thing... it's made by Kodak. That's a dealbreaker. They always have an inferior image processor. Gotta be either Canon or Nikon (though I was unimpressed with my old Nikon still camera, they make some great high-end products). My current JVC camcorder, for example, is merely decent in terms of quality (though it's not HD, when I bought it HD camcorders were $600+).

Awesome, but I still prefer my Flip Ultra HD simply because if it dies, you can put in AA batteries and you're good to go, and it's slightly bigger, with a mat finish, for a better grip....because it's easier to drop a thin smooth camcorder compared to a thick, mat camcorder, but otherwise, looks awesome...came with a few more cables than the Flip too....
