Let me know when it can take HD quality video at a high frame rate. Would shell out a couple grand for that. Until then, mounting a HD camera to the back of the scope is a better option. You are on the right track though.
@whitebeebo We stopped selling them about a 1 1/2 years ago. We are still getting request for them. They are not recommend for a 338. I have not used one of the Day/Night units in the filed. I played with one in the shop and it was cool.
i own a savage 110 BA .338 lapua mag. How well will this scope cope with the shock from the recoil from large calibers. I see this site is still going strong so the market must be pretty remarkable for these products. Anyone know a quote for the DayNight version with the IR lights and eye piece?
@tapper45 >> you're correct...it has magnification, but this scope has a built in range finder, and I want to know it's effective range. All these types of scopes like the one Nikon has, have ranges, 500 -600 yds. So if you don't know, that's OK
it's nice to see that some people on youtube actually know what they're talking about.
i have uso, s&b, swarovskis, nikons etc but none of them have a video out or usb.
i think i probably have better (and stronger) glass but this scope's day has come.
if the other manufactures don't start making this kind of scope they'll be losing out on this part of the market.i hope somebody i know gets one of these soon so i can try it out.
@tapper45 ... this is a new class of scope. There is a lot of math (science) involved in marking distance shots and electronics is making it easier for the average person to just input pint and shoot. The are several companies that make these now...google Laser/lazer scopes and you'll find them. One of many drawbacks is weight and certainly the reason for my question how far can the scope lock in on the target and make the BDC? If it's 600 yards, that 's noit in my mind good enough.my2cents
@carmas54 I guess I should have read your post before jumping in the forum. The technology is very interesting. I hope there are plans for something just as rugged and intended for longer range shooting.
The low light feature seems nice though, especially for the price. It's a great bargin, considering the really nice low light and night vision rifle scopes can easly go up a few thousand dollars.
@pteppig Whatever you left the magnification at is were it will start at. The image looks a little blurrier at 16x than at lower power but not by much. It has an on and off switch but it is best to take the batteries out when not storing it so they do not drain. It uses 4 batteries. I'm not sure about the recharging them inside the scope I did not see that on the manual. Yes it is rain / fog and somewhat sand proof. It will take a 338 but they recommend lower calibers.
@redheadhistorian That is one of the custom reticles already designed by another DigitalHunter user from Elcan's site. It can be pretty time-consuming using the software to custom design ur own reticle, but Elcan's site is filled with many custom reticles from users that you can download right away.
We recommend to our DH users to save time & just look for one of the custom designs already published to Elcan's site. No point in re-inventing the wheel. We still have these in-stock on special...
@CSTactical1 I have an M1A that I an upgrading via Troy Industries (which does wonders). I have made the decision to purchase Day/Night scope especially for this rifle. The battery life concerns me though. Which aftermarket external battery pack would you recommend? How long would the recommended battery pack last under constant useage?
@CSTactical1 ... thanks ,, thats actually not bad ... i might buy one for my dad and one for myself ... looks like a great product , ill give it a try
Mount that scope and rifle on a motorized traversing tripod and you get yourself a nice little toy you can take to the range while you play with your joystick
@Antix619 HD would rock. I would really like that.

what's the effective range of this scope?
carmas54 1 year ago
@carmas54
scopes don't have "ranges", they have magnification levels.
it is 2.5x - 16x.

@carmas54
yeah, i agree.
600 yard shots are where some of my rifles just begin to shine.
i learned mildot in school more than 20 years ago and have been using it since then but you rely on range estimation and target height.
the laser designator i use is accurate past 2k but it is bulky and i don't know anyone that could afford one.
if it won't range past 600 yards it would handicap anything 308 and larger.
but for short to "med" range it would be a fun gadget.

great invention, but i have a few questions:
- does it have a fixed "starting" magnification (software magn gets blurry) ?
- why do i have to remove the batteries (no off switch ?)?
- how many batteries ? can i recharge them inside ?
- is it rain/fog and sandproof ?
- can i use it with 338 magnum ?
