For those who do not know, the black guy in this video sued the karate instructor and won, based on his actions after he knocked out his opponent. The guy's attorney argued that the instructor was showing off for his class, by turning around and smiling at the class with his arms raised.

@borizovskimilan Well it does seem to us, but if some tries to sue, you have to see that the pimp "only aproached" but the other man actually striked....The law is a tricky thing, we should all be carefull..no matter what you "believe" or "suspect", it really matters what happened :p. That's why a true warrior would counter-attack instead. Striking first is only good if you're afraid that you might lose,or afraid in general.

You react according to how you've been trained and in karate alot of it is point sparring or semi-contact unlike MMA styles that are full contact especially with the muay thai kickboxing part. Are you going to score for points in self-defense on the street ? of course not.

If anything, he hit the guy in the neck and might have put pressure on his carotid baroreceptor causing him to get light headed from reduced blood flow. You should probably at least know your anatomy if you are going to use terms like brachial plexus.

Actually when this was first shown on TV, I think on America's Wildest Police Videos with John Bunnell, this karate instructor was giving a self defense demonstration to a class full of local cops.

Karate guy should be charged, I see no evidence here that the so-called pimp intended to strike him or for that matter do anything other then exchange angry words. His only defense for this behavior is that he felt frightened or intimidated. Besides the 'pimp' looks pretty unsteady already, I wouldn't give to much credit to that sucker punch.

its called a brachial stun! he hit the guy in his brachial plexus which is located in the neck! nerves throughout the body (that control different muscles) meet in that one spot. one of the basic moves instructors teach police and military!

@dlbyrd252 actually the nerves that run through your brachial plexus only innervate the arm. Also, the brachial plexus is accessed through the axilla (armpit) not above the shoulder. If anything, he hit the guy in the neck and might have put pressure on his carotid baroreceptor causing him to get light headed from reduced blood flow. You should probably at least know your anatomy if you are going to use terms like brachial plexus.

@McRat1968 really just cause I don't care about spelling and grammar doesn't mean shit I have a college degree. as for MMA it does require a brain you go into a match and start throwing your lil karate kid kicks and we'll see how well that works out. You have no clue about combinations or defense because karate trains you to catch a punch and that shit works about 10% of the time. Learn about head movement, counters, submissions, sweeps then come back and talk to me and not using your brain.
