Team USA is a good team. A group of very professional individuals, playing all for the same objective and trying like hell. It is the wagon jumper American sports fans that suck. American sport fans only get interested when their athletes win first (Armstrong in cycling, hockey 1980...) .
Soccer is not like other sports. If you wanna get to the top, you need the support of your country. History dictates that.

what makes a great football/soccer team? great players yes but you need diffrent types of players so they compliment each other(example a target forward with speedie forward), great coaching and the right tactics and players used on the day. also the players must gel as a team. in concacaf id say the best at this is the usa followed by mexico and than hondourus.

mexico is weak. lots of passion, lots of talent, and may have one or two games a campaign where theyll beat a decent team.
while theyre going stride for stride with teams like argentina or brazil they are sqeaking by or losing to teams like el salvador, canada, and honduras.
the last time US and mexico met in a knockout game, the US won. the last time in a knockout game in a world cup? usa won.
so either mexico is overrated crap, or the US is better than people give them credit for.

overall mexico is much better with better quality players, im not saying the US is terrible but if your gonna be proud that the US made the quarterfinals in 2002, you must remember turkey and korea reached the semifinals and france were eliminated quickly. that being said the US played GREAT in that world cup. in 2006 they played terribly save against italy, and in the 2007 copa america they lpayed terribly.
