@TheKrazyk2010 Figgie couldn't hit water if he fell off a boat. The reason Ichiro didn't get 200 hits this year is because he had no one in the lineup protecting him. Figgins, the #2 hitter, hit about .180. Embarrassing.
Baseball is such a great game, they need to get rid of Bud Selig so people can start getting back to liking baseball again. Bud Selig is doing a terrible job promoting baseball to America/ the world... not to mention the steriod issue.
This man does not get his respect. He's the only hitter to ever have ten consecutive 200 hit seasons, and has never had below 200 hits in his career. A first ballot HOF. And better then Griffey ever was. If only they had A-rod, jay Buhner, Randy Johnson, Brett Boone, and Ichiro at the same time the mariners would have won a title.
@MisterOriginal182 The guy is amazing no doubt - but he kind of gets overshadowed by the fact that Pujols' average is about the same as his every year, expect Pujols hits about 30 more home runs, and 50 -80 more RBIs than Ichiro...
If the Mariners had an unlimited budget, they'd be able to buy 25 players just like the Yankees, and buy a division title every year as well. That's why baseball needs a salary cap that can't be passed, Pay-Rod makes almost as much money as the Royals entire roster
@narusedai12 Well us Mariners fans Love Ichiro. You Yankee fans are just mad cause Ichiro will never sign with you guys, and give you another Hall of Fame player you guys need to make the playoffs year in and out. If you give Seattle 200 million dollars to spend on players, we'd make the playoffs every year too.
@k2skiking9333 As far as the ones I know, most Yankee fans love Ichiro. I love his quote saying something like "If I ever said I was excited about going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face because I'm lying.", that was funny. The only time we didn't was back in 09, if I remember correctly, when he hit that walk off home run against Mariano. Still hell of a player, got loads of respect for him.
@k2skiking9333 LOL, Yankee fans do NOT want Ichiro - he is in serious decline. Brett Gardner is a more valuable outfielder right now. You can keep Ichiro, thank you very much.
I feel sorry for The Mariners fans, because they will never win with that selfish player.
All he cares about is getting that meaningless record of 200 hits. The Japanese media makes it a big deal, because the media knows nothing about the MLB. Hideki Matsui, an ultimae team player, is the best Japanese "baseball player."
@narusedai12 Hideki Matsui has played with hall of fame players in New York. Makes a big difference. Ichiro has played with scrubs for most of his career with the Mariners. Rob Johnson, Jose lopez, Jose Vidro to name a few. Complete garbage players. And 2011 doesn't look much better, although M's fans are hoping Justin Smoak can be a solid hitter. The Mariners management just doesn't seem to care about getting any good offensive players.
You sound a lot like Ichiro - always blames on others, never himself. Since the Japan days, Ichiro hasn't changed. He has always been selfish. The most important stats for a leadoff is on-base percentage, He has a very very low on-base percentage for a 200-hit player. Gary Sheffield once said anyone could hit 200 singles if he doesn't care about winning. Nintendo also should be blamed for giving him that big contract. Nintendo should be forced to sell the team.
@LuvRangiku that and Ichiro is the kind of guy who wants to earn his base, not watch the pitcher make mistakes all night. Walking is not an option in his eyes. Also, if you have a man or two on base, who would you want batting? I'd take Ichiro anyday as he is clutch in big moments.

@narusedai12 Since when did Gary Sheffield's comment became a fact? That proves nothing at all.
And Ichiro's career OBP is .376, which is way above the league average.
