  • Comment removed

  • @Melniboneano ~~~The guitarman is Russell Malone.

  • Lot of Ben Webster in there

  • bellissimo , grande.

    Il suo sax Canta !

  • Does anybody know what he's doing with his hands at 5:47-5:48? I know hes doing the charlie parker fast tonguing but what are his hands doing?

  • @Jazzman303 hitting an alternate fingering aka overtone

  • @mxer6161 He's playing Bb biss but hitting his F key and some other shit. On top hes tonguing. It's a cool effect.

  • MAN this cat knows what's up.

  • Sax God..."That's baby makin music, that's what that is!"

  • Wow. Sweet, sweet, sweet! Peggy Lee is just smiling over this!

  • oh my god that turn around lick at 4:06 is so freaking good!!

  • Check their cd "Yo Bobby"!

  • That's what I call THE ***HAUNTING*** SOUND !!! WONDERFUL!!! I'M HOOKED - where can I buy a CD ?

  • Absolutely AMAZING! I can't get my jaw up off the floor.

    Damn!

  • He definitely gets the sound prize - for all of YouTube.

Sounds *nice* through my B&W speakers.

  • the best dark tenor sound

  • Joel Frahm = BAMF

  • he's telling the kind of stories I like to hear!

  • Hi Joel I find you here, Sound Great as always!

    Flow with the air !!!!

    Best Tony

  • Beautiful tone! ♫♫♫♫♫

  • The sax player looks like my old band teacher from middle school...

  • I bet he didn't play as well...

  • he definitely didn't, he was a good trumpet player though...

  • Joel Frahm is a motherfucker. A technical wizard with direct lineage, via an abiding respect for melody, to Prez.

  • On this video, I'm playing an Otto Link Slant Signature #5 and a # 4 or 4 1/2 reed.

  • yo Bro,Garnett here. How you getting on back home after the demise of Otto??Keeping my eyes peeled for you and hope to be in touch soon.thanks for a couple of totally inspiring weeks mate..Al

  • Garnette, saw you guys at Wakefield, you both sounded f_ing great, man. What's this 'demise of Otto'? Don't tell me he dropped that Slant again!?

  • Hey Alex,

I actually found a pretty cool Selmer Air Flow to play; it's a really nice story how I came about it; I'll tell you another time. Shoot me an e-mail through my site sometime; I'd love to have your e-mail address. Miss you and your playing heaps.

    Joel

  • He setup is a short shank Selmer Solist in D facing and Selmer Mark VI. Perfect pure sound...

  • Wow. There's another video of the same setup on YT if you search on "short shank".

I really like players who use musical space intelligently, or artfully.

    This guy knows how ...

  • Anyone know what the setup is, or guess? Looks like a rubber mouthpiece.

    Fantastic tone.

  • I wondered what would be the opposite of a Brecker-tone... now I know !

  • Never liked the Brecker tone - horrible. Too many notes (brilliantly executed of course). Brittle versus soft and sexy. Prefer the latter. All subjective. Nothing can be said to be "right" across the board, and pro's switch mpc's depending on what the "client" or the song requires.

  • It's his tone!!!

    Just FANTASTIC

  • omg he's NICE, amazing tone

  • The guitarist is Russell Malone.

  • He's not underrated, just under-known! I haven't met anyone who's heard him that doesn't think the guy is incredible.

  • Me too! He is much underrated, I think.

  • God, I just love Frahm's tone.
