I absolutely LOVE this ! perfect combination of really down to earth heartfelt blues playing with a well balanced tone, technique and dynamics, It's just ALL there.
yo Bro,Garnett here. How you getting on back home after the demise of Otto??Keeping my eyes peeled for you and hope to be in touch soon.thanks for a couple of totally inspiring weeks mate..Al
I actually found a pretty cool Selmer Air Flow to play; it's a really nice story how I came about it; I'll tell you another time. Shoot me an e-mail through my site sometime; I'd love to have your e-mail address. Miss you and your playing heaps.
Never liked the Brecker tone - horrible. Too many notes (brilliantly executed of course). Brittle versus soft and sexy. Prefer the latter. All subjective. Nothing can be said to be "right" across the board, and pro's switch mpc's depending on what the "client" or the song requires.
Amazing!
Saw him with Ari Hoenig last month, and he is just awsome to watch

Joel Frahm is a motherfucker. A technical wizard with direct lineage, via an abiding respect for melody, to Prez.

On this video, I'm playing an Otto Link Slant Signature #5 and a # 4 or 4 1/2 reed.

He setup is a short shank Selmer Solist in D facing and Selmer Mark VI. Perfect pure sound...
corsarohun 3 years ago
Wow. There's another video of the same setup on YT if you search on "short shank".
I really like players who use musical space intelligently, or artfully.
This guy knows how ...
jazzflutist 3 years ago
Anyone know what the setup is, or guess? Looks like a rubber mouthpiece.
Fantastic tone.
