All that effort for just two kills? Pretty useless against almost 500 B-17s. If it had more fuel or was (ironically) slower, so it could either linger in the warzone or stay in an attack for longer periods before overshooting, it would've been more worth it. As is it was just one aircraft that was so fast and had so little fuel that it could only shoot down just two aircraft at best. Sign of desperation. Now, if there were a swarm of the little sods things could've been much different.

@ww2guy100 They were not ready for service until after the war. The Nazi's were constantly coming up with new ideas to improve there weapons. If Hitler had mass produced the ME-262 the Nazi's could have strafed the hell out of the Normandy invasion force. With such high loses the Allies wouldnt have been able to make another invasions for a while.

The ME-262 on the other hand was produced in 1941. If they had been mass produced, Normandy would have been a disaster for the allies, and Britain would have fallen not to long after.

Hmm....I'm pretty sure that's not a "propeller" on the nose, but an "impeller". A propeller "propels" something. The 163 was certainly revolutionary, but more deadly to the pilots than the enemy, literally. They lost more to accidents than enemies they killed. It sometimes blew up on takeoff, and landing on a skid caused lots of back injuries (3 shattered vertebrae in one test pilot). Also, they make it sound like it had super-powerful cannons, but the 262 had 4 of the same gun, the 30mm MK108.

The "Komet" was one of a number of lunatic projects the nazis wasted their time, money and resources on.
Others included the "Natter" project, (an even cheaper variant of the Komet concept,) the "Waterfall" anti-aircraft missile, a dozen or so weird aircraft, none of which they had fuel or engines for, all the "V" weapons, the "Maus" giant tank, their atomic bomb project, and the list goes on.

You're not taking into account reality. All these exotic weapons came about when Hitler's Reich was already circling the drain. And none of them were going to change that.

More Fw190 Fighters would nto do anything, as the pilots that fly them need to be trained, and then, they are unexperienced, which lead to the death of the Luftwaffe.

And aditionally, a Fw190 doesnt have the fear factor of a big ass rocket, that could strike anything, and you dont know what comes next by such an enemy.

Think about just this; the US, one of the world's biggest copper producers, didn't have enough copper to build the giant electromagnets needed to purify the U238, for the Bomb. They had use silver, taken from the US Treasury, to make the wire windings.
Germany, had no such resources. And no way of acquiring them.

Both the western allies and the Soviet Union made it a top priority to get their hands on one of the V2's.
Yes, the V2 rockets were an utterly useless weapon.
They killed more people in their manufacture, than in their deployment. (Mostly Jewish slave labor.) Where ridiculously expensive, both in terms of finance and critical war materials, and even wasted a significant portion of the German potato crop, to ferment their alcohol fuel, all at a time when Germany was rapidly running out of such resources.

As is it was just one aircraft that was so fast and had so little fuel that it could only shoot down just two aircraft at best. Sign of desperation. Now, if there were a swarm of the little sods things could've been much different.

If Hitler had mass produced the ME-262 the Nazi's could have strafed the hell out of the Normandy invasion force. With such high loses the Allies wouldnt have been able to make another invasions for a while.

@ww2guy100 Still were not that many produced, only around 83 by 1945. It took another year for them to modify a model so it can launch from an Air Craft Carrier. The ME-262 on the other hand was produced in 1941. If they had been mass produced, Normandy would have been a disaster for the allies, and Britain would have fallen not to long after.

BUT for some reason the most decisive aerial Battle of WWII does'nt even get a mention
"The Battle of Britain" had its fair share of Dogfights which established some of the greatest Fighter Pilots of any era.
Galland,Molders,Hartmann,Bader,Doe,Townsend just to name a Few.
It seems that yet again that an American made series only wants to consentrate on American
Battles and Glories.
They could have featured "Eagle Squadron" if nothing else.

Hmm....I'm pretty sure that's not a "propeller" on the nose, but an "impeller". A propeller "propels" something. The 163 was certainly revolutionary, but more deadly to the pilots than the enemy, literally. They lost more to accidents than enemies they killed. It sometimes blew up on takeoff, and landing on a skid caused lots of back injuries (3 shattered vertebrae in one test pilot). Also, they make it sound like it had super-powerful cannons, but the 262 had 4 of the same gun, the 30mm MK108.

@Nikitos253 No, I doubt it had the burn time to break out of gravity, first, and second, it would have been uncontrollable in the thin upper atmosphere, let alone in space. How do you keep it pointed at space when the wings aren't making lift and the controls aren't responding? Believe it, it never could have made it out of the atmosphere. The V2, on the other hand, could, and did, because it was far more powerful and was ballistic, rather than controlled by flight surfaces.

@skeilak This thing wasnt designed to make many kills, but to show the enemy how advanced the nazi's technology was, and how they had to fear them. They wanted the Allies to stop the bombing attack, and didnt want to stop the bombers from reaching the target, which was impossible, even with 400 planes, that the Luftwaffe didnt hjave at the same spot

The "Komet" was one of a number of lunatic projects the nazis wasted their time, money and resources on.
Others included the "Natter" project, (an even cheaper variant of the Komet concept,) the "Waterfall" anti-aircraft missile, a dozen or so weird aircraft, none of which they had fuel or engines for, all the "V" weapons, the "Maus" giant tank, their atomic bomb project, and the list goes on.
All of them, equally stupid, desperate, and pointless.

Developing an AA Missle is smart, and if the war would have taken longer, who knows, maybe the missile would help, the V weapons where extremely good, and would have been helpful, and the atomic bomb project....hm it wasnt useless for america, eh? So why should it be for the germans. It is an opportunity to gain thousands of square miles with one bomb.

You're not taking into account reality. All these exotic weapons came about when Hitler's Reich was already circling the drain. And none of them were going to change that.
Example: What would have been more useful? Spending 100's of millions on the V-2 rockets, which were utterly useless, or putting that effort into building more of the proven FW-190 fighters?
Of course, the blame rests on Hitler, who (Thank goodness!) idiotically forbade new "defensive" weapons.

More Fw190 Fighters would nto do anything, as the pilots that fly them need to be trained, and then, they are unexperienced, which lead to the death of the Luftwaffe.
A V2 in the end of its development could strike much harder than an Fw190 could.
And aditionally, a Fw190 doesnt have the fear factor of a big ass rocket, that could strike anything, and you dont know what comes next by such an enemy.

You see? That's my point. A V2 was just an incredibly expensive way to drop a 2000lbs. bomb, on a target no smaller than a large city. Utterly useless, militarily.
Besides, the war wasn't going to last any longer than August or September, 1945, in any case. Because that's when the US planned to drop the first atom bomb on Germany.

@skeilak Its not to make the Allies surrender, but to throttle the bombings and invasions, which would give the nazis time to make better weapons and even gather troops.
The V2 may be expensive, but is much much harder to shoot down than a plane, which is a huge plus, as the luftwaffe was almost beaten in the late war. The V3 could make dust out of london without taking hundrets of german pilots and crewmembers with it. And it all gave time, if the things where succesful

@skeilak Gathering troops was the wrong word. But more time = more eqipment for the poorly equipped soldiers, and better training for the ones back from the front.
The point with the V2 was, that it has more effect than a 2000 pound bomb, as it hits the target better.
With V3, i mean the england-canon.
And for the Nuclear bomb, that is a real argument. But i think nazis had a plan for that, although i am not saying that that plan could have been effective

Oil, aluminum, copper, chrome, titanium, precision machine tools, intact railroad tracks, bridges, their electric power grid, money, trained men, "friends", food, and above all, competent leadership.
The nazis didn't have a clue as to how to build an atomic bomb. Nor the resources, if they had. In fact, the Japs. were way ahead of them.
They could be pesky with their "super weapons", but nothing more. They were doomed in 1941.

But the fact remains, that in real-life, the nazis were way off track, from creating a bomb. Even the Japs. had figured out a uranium implosion was necessary.
As to resources; you do realize, that adjusted for inflation, the Manhattan Project is still the single most expensive thing ever done by the US Gov't.?
How could Germany, have matched that?

Heisenberg admitted, (after the war,) he was completely off-track, in his attempt to create a Bomb.
So, yes, a nazi atom-bomb was all but impossible.
We are not talking about salaries, but vast amounts of stuff. You need money for that. Even in nazi Germany.
You really need to read the history of the Manhattan Project to understand how ridiculous the idea of a nazi A-bomb was.

America helped the soviets with advancing on their front but would never do anything that gives the soviets more power than the americans want, and with a nuclear bomb, they have just that. Things like the Cuba Crysis are serious.
And you dont need much money, soldiers in Russia didnt get payed and still fought (Story by a grandfather)

You're not getting it. It's not people you have to pay for - it's things.
And lots, and lots, of things, are required to build an atomic bomb.
Think about just this; the US, one of the world's biggest copper producers, didn't have enough copper to build the giant electromagnets needed to purify the U238, for the Bomb. They had use silver, taken from the US Treasury, to make the wire windings.
Germany, had no such resources. And no way of acquiring them.

@skeilak If you want recources (and germany had them back in the 1930s) without much money, you can get them too, you just have to do the same you did with the scienteists to the mine-workers etc.
And you dont even need to completely purify the U238 (i believe the only reason why they did is to stuff more of it into the same place), as only a little part of the nuclear material even split during the expolsion.

Most Nazi scientist's and engineer's were worried about saving their own skins, and made every effort to surrender to the Americans and British, bringing all their work with them as insurance, because they knew what the Soviets would do with them.

WW1 was caused by austria, which called germany for help because one guy from the east killed someone of the royl family, and as soon as they knew they couldnt win, they asked germany, and later, germany suffered most.
I dont know who they are, thats why nothing is known about them. Gas and Matchsticks can make a corpse indecipherable, and their work with them, especially back then.

Uh, HOW were the V2 rockets useless? The allies couldn't intercept or shoot them down. As a ballistic missile the V2 was something quite extraordinary. Needless to say Operation Paperclip made sure those top German rocket scientists ended up on the western side after WW2.
Both the western allies and the Soviet Union made it a top priority to get their hands on one of the V2's.

Yes, the V2 rockets were an utterly useless weapon.
They killed more people in their manufacture, than in their deployment. (Mostly Jewish slave labor.) Where ridiculously expensive, both in terms of finance and critical war materials, and even wasted a significant portion of the German potato crop, to ferment their alcohol fuel, all at a time when Germany was rapidly running out of such resources.
So yeah, the V2 was both useless, and stupid. (Much like the nazis.)
