  • wtf at the start did he SAY HE WAS VLADIMIR PUTIN?

  • Yet again the schemes of the great powers resulting in slaughters in the Balkans, or no one wants another great hungry state in Europe, make it look like they decided to kill each other.

  • Thanks for posting this rare interview with Chomsky. If you are Chomsky fan you might like my youtube channel 'Munderlarkst' .

  • Wow Chomsky on national T.V., that shit isn't gonna happen again!

  • Wow, he just sat there awkwardly whilst they talked about him for two whole minutes.

  • thank you so much for posting this. i had no idea that it existed.

  • I think Dr. Chomsky handles himself well here, given Donahue's worthless comments, but other than that, Noam does well, he'll be fine!!

  • Chomsky changed my entire perception of world and domestic politics. I wish more people heard him or read his works.

  • Now I see why MSNBC cancelled Donahue on the eve of the US war. He clearly doesn't conform to the will of our masters. Chomsky is not supposed to be sought for his opinions in this country, because he has not drank the Kool-Aid

  • Has GE (CNBC's parent company) hassled you re: the copyright on this? I thought they were everywhere :).

  • That idiot Donahue looks like he wants to jump across the desk and thump Noam.

  • well done chomsky

  • thanks you for uploading this

  • сделайте аннотации по-руусски,непонятно ничерта

  • poor donahue! I've never seen him look so silly. didn't anyone warn him that chomsky is a walking encyclopedia? goodness, he could have read up a bit before the interview! funny too how donahue keeps stepping in the doodoo, chomsky corrects him, and pozner just goes "yeah, what he said," as if he knew it too! lol!

  • This is a freaky introduction. Sounded like:

    Good evening I'm Phil Donahue.

    And I'm Vladimir Putin.

  • LOL

  • Chomsky is totally the MOST BRILLIANT man on the planet !!!!!!!!

  • I wouldn't go that far, but he's pretty darn smart and sharp.

  • why wouldn't you go that far?

He is the most cited living author, voted the top public intellectual, was the reason for the cognitive revolution, revolutionized modern linguistics and is the world's top critic of U.S. foreign policy.

  • @paganiniGOGO

    I.

I have grave differences with Chomsky. I don't at all like his tendency to carelessly conflate the intellectual and economic elite, and I most emphatically *do not* share his faith in the judgment of the common man; but if anyone is to be bestowed the title of "world's smartest living person" Chomsky has about as firm a claim to it as anyone.

    He absolutely *immensely* intelligent.

Intelligence is not a monolith, but in particular Chomsky's analytical powers

    and...

  • II.

...sheer off-the cuff command of information are just jaw-dropping. This is why it is so deliciously amusing when his critics, like mice squeaking at cat behind a closed window, attempt to deprecate Chomsky's views on geopolitics by observing that his formal credentials are confined to linguistics.

Chomsky appears to have read and remembered more than anyone currently drawing breath, and if there is anyone alive who in this sense could be said to resemble what might be called his peer...

  • III.

...I can't offhand name who it might be.

  • @polymath7 it's very interesting to witness people so sharply evoking the truism that the common man is some sort of depraved animal or something

  • I can't believe something as useful as this could ever have been shown on the hopeless CNBC... the network of Kudlow, Santelli, Bartiromo??? This is probably the only worthwhile program that ever came from this channel.

  • He called Kosovo 5 years in advance? I have to tip my hat.

  • he has called a lot of things in advance actually. the housing bubble for example.

  • He even called the bird flu

  • He didn't come up with that on his own my friend...

  • he was right about most of it..

    -the german intevention.

    -the husty partition

    -the russian factor.

-a turkish intevention causing a balkan war

-the spilling of war in kossovo.

  • wow, I didn't know such thing existed, great vid

    Chomsky is an abiding thinker...

  • donahue is so patronising. the fawning is just an attempt to evade asking any serious questions

  • I think Chomsky is brilliant as well, but Donahue did seem like he was about to juggle Chomsky's balls.

  • haha, so true. This is hilarious... Donahue is really man-crushing here

  • hahaha well its better than if he hates him :) donahue is a pretty good guy himself although not as smart of course

  • in 93 he talks abt kosovo... brilliant!!!

  • Read anything Chomsky from two to thirty years ago and it all stands the time. Not only that, his predictions are uncanny. That is only because his understanding and analysis is so precise.

  • what exactly has he 'predicted'? I'm curious not dismissing it. I've read many Chomsky articles. To me, he's a bit like Woody Allen. He makes some good points but then repeats the same show over and over.

  • @locopr1

i am a huge chomsky fan (click on my chomsky vids), but one prediction he was wrong on was during i think the late 80s, when he predicted that cuba would be the next latin american country invaded by the us. thankfully he was wrong. i have the recording, and can provide the album and dates if you want. anyway, completely plausible prediction, but it proves he can be wrong like everyone.

  • genius, Chomsky was exactly correct in his thinking by the way the true events played out.
