They don't have the fundamentals like the older generation did so Stern set up 2 specific rules that makes scoring all too easy for fast players. 3 in key allows them to blow past their 1v1 with no big camping inside and no handcheck makes them monsters by speed and athleticism alone. Plus the league in all has gotten much softer.
Kobe in recent has Gasol, Odom AND Bynum! Even Phil has never had that kind of length and depth in his championship laden teams, making it easy to go against most teams even in the playoffs that he can use the length against! Kobe rarely goes up against the team's best ball handler yet Jordan played better perimeter defense, kept up with the likes of Stockton, Payton, Isiah Thomas, Kevin Johnson and gave his best performances when games mattered. Too bad Kobe can't do the same!

@ryan49er1 and guess who was forced to set the nba standards because the degree of talent isn't up to par as it was in the 80's and 90's? They don't have the fundamentals like the older generation did so Stern set up 2 specific rules that makes scoring all too easy for fast players. 3 in key allows them to blow past their 1v1 with no big camping inside and no handcheck makes them monsters by speed and athleticism alone. Plus the league in all has gotten much softer.

Kobe in recent has Gasol, Odom AND Bynum! Even Phil has never had that kind of length and depth in his championship laden teams, making it easy to go against most teams even in the playoffs that he can use the length against! Kobe rarely goes up against the team's best ball handler yet Jordan played better perimeter defense, kept up with the likes of Stockton, Payton, Isiah Thomas, Kevin Johnson and gave his best performances when games mattered. Too bad Kobe can't do the same!

how quickly people also forget....mike didn't start winning until phil/dennis/scottie came to town and everything started meshing well. sometimes all it takes is the perfect storm. for example if someone like vince carter was put on the lakers instead of the raptors...im sure we'd think a lot different of him now. although you can never determine the success someone would have had in different situations.

Oh and Pippen's contributions were much bigger than Jordan's? C'mon now, the teams were looking out for Jordan, NOT Pippen. Jordan won them when the games mattered, and with castoffs like Kerr, Paxson, Longley, Buchler and scrubs. Also against some of the best defenses the NBA ever assembled.
