  • These guys are a great band playing to and reading the crowd. When your doing live stuff it's sometimes hard to get all the effects just right, like the studio version. Sooo cut em some slack. They are still a great band that has brought many of us much joy. Rock On.

  • These guys suck! Ruining the name of a once great band.

  • Poor quality but still a good song. Tony Beazley, I knew a guy by that name in Chandler.

  • @jarmenta69 the problem is that your monitor is not set right, the quality is good for 240 ppi....

  • This...is just...awful.

  • Absolutely a PATHETIC performance. A disgrace to the ORIGINAL members of the MTB, and especially to Toy Caldwell. Simply AWFUL. Doug Gray should be ashamed!

  • Poor lead vocal and the lead guitar has way too much FX, the original lead guitar in live versions (early 70's) had a natural Gibson Les Paul sound. Maybe the gain and EQ adjusted but that was about it.

  • that lead singer needs to "run like the wind" and never come back

    geezzz

  • This is fairly recent. sounds pretty good.

  • Lighten up some of you. Its obvious you never picked up a guitar and actually played. Its hard to get it just right but that is what you strive for. All clubs are a different sound setup and it takes time to adjust. these musicians are great in my opinion. They will amaze you if you ever meet them face to face.

  • Hmm....just does not sound great. But yea, I suppose we just expect it to sound like the original albums. lol

  • @kodiak11755, here here

  • im sorry instrumentally sound but the lead singin sucks balls

  • @robbob9933, FYI, Doug Gray is the original vocalist for MTB, Rusty Milner MTB since 1984, Tim Lawler since 1987, Chris Hicks since 1996, David Muse 1996. These gentlemen carry on when the good lord has taken one's we love.

As far as posers, you my friend should use your talent (if you have any) & get out there day in & day out, dedicate yourself to something other than running your lip about people you do not know.

  • Thanks for sharing the live version. I recognized Doug Gray singing.

Unfortunately, in on line there are a lot of sad people who only have the power to

flex their muscles online. My guess is they mostly work some job like 7 Eleven.

  • you know , thats the thing about this country! first the polititions , then the coloreds, then the illegals, EVERYBODY HAS FORGOTTEN THE PHRASE:

ITS NON YA DAMN BUISNESS WHAT I DO or SAY,! ITS CALLED FFFFREEDOM OF EXPPPRESSION!! YOU N,N,NOSY ASsHOLES ! GARY OUGHT TO START A GROUP CALLED 'FUCK OFF'

  • Doug Gray is singing this

  • what happen to the mtb we all love we miss you toy tommy

  • I've heard MT cover bands sound better. Well this is really a cover band as all original Marshall Tucker members were gone. This is one of the things that pisses me off. Posers of a great band playing and singing so shitty. Without an original member they ARE NOT Marshall Tucker.

  • @Robbob9933 what about Skynyrd same thoughts? Should they stop? Its always a big discussion bout them...

  • @TonyBeazley Well, Gary is still with them and I am OK with a band with a founding member being active in the band. Johnny the younger brother of Ronnie is doing his big brother proud on lead vocals. Better yet is that they still sound great not like this MTB hack group in this video..

  • @Robbob9933 That's Doug Gray original lead singer of the MTB, this is before Doug took time off for vocal surgery. He sang as much as he could with out killing the rest of his voice.

  • @Robbob9933 Doug Gray IS an original member. Three of the original members are dead, they can't help that!

  • are you kidding me???? this is shyt.....ide rather watch/listen to a cover band....doug needs to go back to the house and stay there....this is junk!!!!

  • This is a circus act...."novelty" and total disrespect to the real MTB and Toy and Tommy

  • Vocals are horrible.

  • I'm having trouble seeing without Toy!! R.I.P.

  • Kool, these guys still playing in recently? Same band members as the 70's? What's the scoop on this band?

  • @flymarvin well arent you full of Merry Christmas cheer......

  • @flymarvin Cool story bro. Hahaha! Sorry, I can't take a Nickelback and ICP fan seriously. Your taste in music pretty much makes whatever you say irrelevant. Eeeww and Limp Bizkit? I bet you're a closet Creed fan. Have fun with that.

  • Hey Tony, I am working playing this song. (played Marshall Tucker for 35 years) Do you know how I can get this video clip so I can practice with it? Thanks Jim

  • @congoairman well if you have firefox browser, add on the video downloader and then you can get it.....

  • @congoairman you can try keepvid dot com

  • @congoairman GO TO U TUBE AND WATCH IT

  • @congoairman it will be located in the folder of your browser's cache files. add .flv to file name and open with Media Player Classic. The file size is about 32,325KB

  • Just isn't the same, sorry. Have to listen to the old clips to hear the real Marshall Tucker Band. Fortunate to have seen them a few times in the seventies.

  • Marshall tucker comes to watseka illinois on valentines day weekend saturday Feb 12, 2010 . watseka theatre is located 92 miles from Chicago.

  • @rocmaven Watseka? Wow. I was born there!

  • RIP TOY... It sucks Man without you. However as they say The show must go on as long as there is interest.

  • One of my all tme fav's !!!

  • Sad to see the only original member here is Doug Gray, At least the effort is being made to play the songs in the spirit of the originals. Toy Caldwell, Tommy Caldwell, and George McCorkle: Rest in Peace Brothers.

  • tony you rock my world

  • @jcfnumberone Glad I can make people happy..thanks!!!

  • Loving this!

  • horrile cover its to fast and sounds like crap its just to fast if it was slowed down it would be good but otherhan the speed i think everything sounds really good

  • Rusty RULES!!

  • This ia awful when compared to the original. I have played with bar bands that did it better than this. I loved the original Tucker band but this is far from it

  • @1962dobropicker Nice stone throw at some guys just trying to make a living. Post the video of your bar band, won't you?.

  • real nice performance excellent quality

  • @7seagrams Thanks!!!! Its good to hear a positive comment!!!

  • @TonyBeazley Yeah it was high tech real nice.

  • @7seagrams ..thanks.... had a $9000 SVHS camera rolling on it and edited in FCP..it worked :)

  • Thank you Tony for putting this on youtube. MTB is near and dear to my heart. I was born and raised in South Carolina on Marshall Tucker from the beginning. When we lost Toy I felt it way down deep. Just like the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the MTB is Southern style rock and roll Hall of Fame. Rock on ya'll Peace

  • @BlessedinVT Thanks!!! You are very welcome!!!

  • You would guitarist that old would learn to stop playing solos that were cliche by now. *sighs*

  • doug gray god bless you and the band beano

  • not impressed. Guitar riffs were off, and one signature thing about this song is the drum beat. Mr. Drummer needs to do some home-work. Just my 2 cents

  • No Toy, No MTB....Sorry Doug...

  • Always the best videos from you Tony

  • @ritcheyrocker thanks bro... :)

  • i was not alive during the 70s but i grew up loving southern rock . Even though there are bands that don't have the original members today, that doesn't mean they cant stop playing. they are keeping southern rock alive today for my generation. Southern rock is still alive and cooking!

  • RIP TOY

  • hey doug, way to ruin a true classic. Retire man, take life easy. Stop ruining the classics of MTB. Only Toy and Tommy can play with the true spirit of this masterpiece.

  • Unfortunately, Toy and Tommy are not alive and well and still playing with The Marshall Tucker Band. Still, I'd like to believe they would be thrilled to know that after all these years MTB still exists and is working hard to carry on a tradition they laid the foundation for so many years ago. (P.S. Last night after rehearsal, Rusty started playing "Long Hard Ride" and we all jumped in. --it put a smile on everybody's face)

  • MTB has some of the most beautiful tunes in rock history. I,d like to see a Clint Eastwood movie made on the theme of Fire on the Mountain. ONLY Mr. Clint could do it right, him being one the if not the best of the western actors of his generation

  • dang good idea!!!!!

  • This is not the same MTB from the 70's that we all know. RIP TOY we all miss you.

  • neither is Skynyrd...

  • thank you tony

  • I have the pleasure of playing music with Rusty Milner at Milestones Church in Spartanburg, S.C.

  • Tony-I think the current version of Skynyrd should continue to grace us with music-

  • Doug Gray is the only one I recognize.. Nobody does this song like Toy!! I grew up with the marshall tucker band- and this is not them except for Doug- luv u Doug!!

  • I totally understand that...what are your thoughts about Skynyrd these days...should they keep on?

  • Yea I love Skynyrd!! As I do MTB!! They should keep on rocking!! I just pesonally knew the originals from MTB- which 3 of them are dead now .. But as long as we still have Doug- we're doing good!!

  • cool.. thanks!!

  • Thanks so much for the friend request!! Are you on FB or myspace?

  • both!!!

  • @Dylanrlee and nobody can play Sweet Home Alabama like Ed King can ..... thanks for watching!!

  • i was borine in 1997

  • Black Stone Cherry, made an AMAZING cover of this song

  • I saw Skynyrd LIVE AT THE BORO on Oct.13,1977,I believe it was the Hanner Field House. The BORO is short for Statesboro,Georgia, they hosted a lot of concerts in the early 70`s.

  • who ever decided to add the flute to the Marshall Tucker Band was a musical genious. One of greatest bands ever.

  • @boopyfat aint it though?, as soon as you hear it, you know whats comin.

  • I love this song! But it does not hold a candle to the old Toy Caldwell versions. These guys are having some fun, Toy put his heart and soul into it, and you could really tell. I still love this music, but its an old folks tour.

  • I love Marshall Tucker, thanks Tony !

    God bless you always

    hugs

    Karen

  • I saw them when I lived in Kingsport, TN...before in FL, and VA

  • my vote is the 1973 vid! but hey, all things change...

  • thanks for posting the video tony..

really good stuff...keep on playin' that rock n roll...WHY?? Cause Rock n Roll will never die!!!!! I don'r care what the people say rock n roll is here to stay!

  • I know this is good but watch Young Toy Sing it in 1973!

  • there`s a damn cool guitar-question-answer in it! love it!

  • Bass player has a huge nut sack. Damn

  • I've never looked that close.....lol but then most of us bass players do..... :)

  • isn`t everything huge at the bassist? ;) guess he must be pretty tall?!

  • Doug quits singing at the beginning and allows the audience to do so because he know he cant do it anymore....its actually really sad, but I admire his effort in keeping the MTB alive after all these years, though their new material cant compare to the old days :P

  • Toy must be turning over in his grave...!!!!

  • its all good man-its ok-not a bad jam-i know its not toy and tommy-but it rocks. long live MTB

  • obrigado por dividir conosco, thanks a lot for sharing...

  • one of my favorite songs ever thanks wow

  • hahaha! I had to rewind it and watch that about 3 times! that's great!

  • This is LIVE N REAL MUSIC. Sounds great.... gime mo!!! No effects, no gimmicks just simple real n true. Good one Tony..

  • Chris was into it!!!!

  • Das ist es warum ich Southern Rock so liebe!!! Greetings from Germany

  • tony they just dont make music like that any more ! nice job . love those guys ! thanks man. gary

  • I am very wrong about the spelling of Toy's name. Working off of 30 yr. old memory. Great to see the passion for MTB is still alive and well! Hope i didnt piss anyone off. Tony-Again thanks for the great videos!!!!!

  • It's alright just glad you like the music.......

  • google it. Toy it is.

  • unless they speak it in chinese lol ....yep it's Toy!!!!!

  • Three of the original members are now dead. The one singing the song here (Doug Gray) is an original member of the band BUT he was not the one who sang the song back in the 1970's. That was Toy Caldwell. Toy Caldwell past away in 1993.

  • more good history for MTB.....thanks!!!!

  • This is all Good Tony-btw ktra-its Toi Caldwell. its all good - MTB Rocks

  • cool

  • let me know if you can do better ....

  • the lead singer sounds worn out. a shadow of the original. still a show stopper though

  • well since he is the original singer he just might be a tad worn out.....ya think ;) I must say that this is a good jam like you say....no one can replace the Caldwells.....so lets just enjoy the jam...... Chris Hicks rocks!!!!

  • Tony-Its all good man.

  • its great when a song is so recognized by the crowd that fast!!

  • way cool song

  • rusty is in spartanburg south carolina, and is teaching guitar lessons at a school called oakbrook preparatory

  • Lost Potential. Long Live MTB.

  • These guys were just too damn good.

  • Great to see a video of MTB during this period with this line-up. The dual guitar lead was indeed incredible. Thanks for posting.

  • thanks for posting the video.

i loved this band since i been in daipers :D

i'm glad i grew up to this kinda music.

    Godspeed Toy, Tommy and George

  • ty

blessing 2 u from the south lands

  • This is the best song ever written, brings back so many wonderful memories, I will always have fond memories of this song, the true south.

  • GREAT VIDEO..saw them on this tour in STATESBORO, GEORGIA...BROUGHT BACK GOOD MEMORIES...HICKS WAS AWESOME AS USUAL

  • I get to interview these guys this weekend, love their music and am trying to think of something interesting to ask...any suggestions?!

  • DaHaar! That wasn't expected. The rhythm player came flying outta nowhere in the end. Excellent. Respect... great clip.

  • I miss Toy! Enternally Great no matter who does it!

  • not the greatest, but better then nothing. i miss toy

  • It's not the same without Toy

  • ....it's not the same without McCorkle either.....

  • Without Toy Caldwell and many other original MTB members I'd say the band still lives up to it's legacy. If I had found myself at this show I would have felt that the band delivered. It's a lot different from the old sound but it's not bad.

  • Its a great job the band, but does Chris Hicks have that crazy look when he sings

  • I'd call that an emotional singers talent ;)

  • give us more live music doug!!!!!!!!

  • 5 STARS!!!

Makes me sick inside to see this down rated.

    Guess those cannot...

    put down those who can...

    and can do....

    WELL!!!

  • It just aint the same without Toy makin that ol Les Paul cry!!!

  • yes but chris does an amazing job.

  • Chirs is an unbelievable hidden talent.....when he sings with his band....he lets it rip......

  • my father grew up with him in georgia, so i know him personally. he is an awesome human being. i have a video of me playing with him on my profile. its short but go leave a comment or whatever to tell me what you think.
