The new Theater Pipe Organ they put in the Forum down in Tampa Bay tops the Allen in the United Center.... sounds much more like the old Barton..... This guy blows Pellico away...
That's a very appropriate number for Frank, #61 ! Get it? There are 61 notes on a standard 5 octave organ keyboard! I live in the Phoenix area, and the AZ Diamondbacks baseball organist, Bobby Freeman, is # 88--the number of keys on a standard piano keyboard!
The REAL reason the organ was left out was because Frank has been an electronic organist for his entire career. The Barton pipe organ was most likely "too slow" and not as responsive and instant as an electronic organ is. He told the Wirtz family that it would cost "millions" to remove/restore/reinstall the organ in the United Center. Take it from someone in the organ business; it could've cost a little less than HALF that amount for the whole project. They EASILY could've had the organ there.
When a well-known organist in the theatre organ world came in to voice/tonally finish the organ for that room, he told some people that the PIPE organ project could've been done for a little less than $500,000. When the Wirtz family heard this, old man Wirtz's face drooped to the floor I guess, in realization that they could've kept the Barton all along. I'm sick of people who bullshit others, and don't know what they're talking about. (note the organist in the above video........)
From what I read on another website, Frank was the main reason why they didn't move the Barton from the old stadium to the new one...He convinced the owner it would be too costly. Shame if that's true!
@449GO Fuck you dude!! AND I'm a Flyers Fan asshole...Even know Mr.Pellico is of the opposing side in this years finals,I have to give him the utmost respect on his ability to not only entertain us,but to soothe us as well.Especially after a hard days' work and a few hockey fights and his talent...What's better? Maybe YOU falling on your ass outside of the United Center on a thick sheet of ICE!!!!!
