  • Gordon Burns, he does north west tonight on BBC these days, didn't know he did this

  • Watching these makes me feel old as I grew up watching The Krypton Factor, the new Krypton Factor is crap

  • @TheIdentCritic They probably scrapped the intelligence so as not to discriminate against women, who aren't - let's be honest - very bright.

  • @Gary190tube At the risk of coming across as a PC thug, I must ask you to refrain from such a comment. Actually they cut the Intelligence test because it was too long to film, and studio time is too expensive these days.

  • @Gary190tube My girlfriend is much, much brighter than me, and, from the sounds of it, certainly brighter than you, because she doesn't resort to making such shallow, narrow-minded, generalising statements.

My girlfriend got all As and Bs on her (hard) A-Levels, is currently trouncing all her coursemates at University, meanwhile I'm studying a joke of a course and the most intelligent thing I'm capable of is repairing TV sets!

  • Classic ITV game show stuff. BTW, for a bigger challenge, can our new Krypton Factor contests do a logic puzzle where they have to assemble a map of Europe with TV network logos from EBU network stations on them?

  • It's so easy i can complete the puzzle in 30 seconds

  • You certainly wouldn't get anything like this on The Krypton Factor today!

  • would be easy now that most of the regions have been axed

  • red against red just can't work !

  • thanks so much for uploading this! i never thought i'd see this again!

i actually wrote to granada asking could i have one of these puzzles cos i was obsessed with the itv company logos!

they actually wrote back which was nice of them but they lied! spun me some cock and bull story about the puzzles had been shipped to TV New Zealand to use on their version of the krypton factor - i mean come on why would a NZ version of the programme use a puzzle based on a map of the UK?

  • I can tell you this particular puzzle was never seen in NZ having recently watched reruns of the NZ series. But we did have puzzles very similar to this and I would say would have originated from the UK. Our video clips from the observation round came from the UK series.

  • ITV Regions? What are they?

    All hail the national ITV!

  • what the hell? What's right with a national ITV?

  • Nothing! I was being sarcastic. Not obvious in text I know.

  • Wow! 12,000 views exact!

  • i cant wait for it to come back next year i will be watching it

  • This looks like it should be really easy - if you just match up the coastline, then you'd have most of it done!!

  • I live in the channel tv region which they did not fit on this puzzle.

We watched every nail biting episode of Krypton Factor over the time it was on. Pity it's not on still.

How many tons of plastic did they use over the years making the puzzles on krypton factor?

  • It started again alst night, but you'd be switching voer quickly.

  • I did not watch it but knew it was on. They did not have Gordon Burns on it!!! It can't be as good without him! I will probably watch it next time but I find these modernised versions of programmes are never as good as the originals.

  • LOL wicked thanks for sharing, i mentioned the show in my video and people are asking what it is so i've Faved it.

    thanks!

  • I thought that was Alan Partridge when that first came up... just shows how long it's been since I've seen this TV classic.

  • Is it true that two of the contestants in the 1989 series got married?

  • That's the first I've heard of that. Who were the two contestants?

  • The two contestants were Dougie Forde from this video and Carol Mofatt from Group B. Diamondiceman2002 will be glad it wasn't Mike Berry and Liz Vasey!

  • Ah right, just goes to show what doors being on a game show can open!

  • And Dougie was also on 15 to 1!

  • im pretty sure they did end up getting married.

  • This was my favourite intelligence rounds as a kid. I was really into knowing what ITV regions were where and was always trying to watch TVS or Central despite a much better signal on my local station Carlton!

  • So was I. The ITV regoins nowdays are not even close to the way they were in the early 1990's. Just one thing I live in Granada the north west part of England. Were do you come from?

  • I wonder if tonight we see the Intelligence round where the contestants have to manoeuvre the ball through a maze using water by turning taps?

  • I wonder what it would be like if Gordon Burns was commentating on the progress made during a late-night game show. For instance, "There's Debbie King doing all she can to persuade viewers to phone in, but she's having a hard time of it at the moment, I'm afraid."

  • Lol! That would probably boost the ratings (not to mention credibility!) of those late-night phone-in quizzes!

  • She was attractive on Krypton - when the 1989 series was first repeated on Challenge, I felt the same way!

  • I think I'll stick to the WWE Divas (Mickie James and Ashley Massaro-blushes!)

  • When Judy Stafford broke her leg coming down the double jump after the tramwires. This heat with the ITV Regions map is the heat after Judy Stafford's heat in Group C(In the heat she was in, Mike Brennan won and Liz Vasey i.e the one you have a crush on, came second but got through as the highest scoring runner up.)

  • Cor, I forgot all about this part of the Krypton Factor! Thanks for the memory

  • Wasn't this heat two heats after Judy Stafford's heat?(The one where she broke her leg)

  • This was the very next heat after that (Group C Heat 2)

  • Let's hope Diamondiceman2002 posts a video of the infamous "Stafford incident".

  • Oh yeah, methinks it will be posted this time around. Tell u what though, I was genuinely shocked when it wasn't uploaded last time it was on Ftn, I really did expect that to be posted instantly!

  • I missed that episode that time because I was watching Man Utd playing away to Portsmouth on Sky Sports (we lost 2-1) and then I switched it over before the end once Portsmouth went 2-0 up to watch WWE Smackdown on Sky One.

  • yes and made so it can be put onto bebo

  • I liked the old version of the Ulster Television logo the best. It is shown here on the map

  • Dougie Forde managed to mount a huge comeback to win the heat.

  • That sensational General Knowledge performance took him straight from 4th to 1st place!

  • Has anyone got the 1979-1982 title sequence to KF ?

  • Has anyone got the 1979-1982 title sequence to KF ?

  • Has anyone got the 1979-1982 title sequence to KF ?

  • It looks simple that round but actually it wont be!!!lol

  • My dad went on this, can't remember what year. He won his episode and came runner-up in teh next stage.

He didn't get to keep anything, but they gave him a sports bag with the KF logo and some KF clothes!

  • What series was it and what was his name?

  • Not sure what series, but I think it may have been 89. His name's Al Barker.

  • He was in the 1988 series; in fact his heat will be shown this coming weekend!

  • Hahaha! Tht's quality! I wish I had Sky now.

  • It was 1988. I just saw it. I must admit, he's a big brute!

  • Shame ITV couldn't respect the regions now as they did then! A great upload, thanks for sharing

  • Nice to have a close up of some logos at 1:36 (TSW, TVS and LWT) and a decent attempt to appease the few viewers on Channel Television.

  • great upload!

  • Great to see this Intelligence test. Oh, I long for the days of regional ITV again, including Channel Television!

  • Channel Television is still going, it's my region.

  • It is a helluva of a TV station.
