@MrWickedmanchild Leave me alone. I won't pick up the phone. And I won't listen to messages Sent by someone who calls up and says. I don't like how you're living my life. Get yourself a wife. Get yourself a job. You're living in a dream. Don't you be a slob. Leave me again. Don't hang out in my den. Waiting for little clues to appear That I drank some of granddaddy's beer. Waiting for little clues to appear That I drank some of granddaddy's beer.
maladroit is the best after pinkerton in my opinion. i love it. this was probably the height of my weezer fandom. it was all downhill after this for me. still great tunes though.
Maladroit doesn't get enough props. It kind of reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons, when Homer's brother Herb has him design a car with all the features that the average American would want. Then, when the car is released to the public, people hate it and Herb disowns Homer as his brother and the car is universally seen as a wreck, even though it had exactly what people wanted... maybe it had TOO much of what people wanted.
I couldn't explain it better. Now, there's plenty of Maladroit that I really don't like, but the album definitely has its gems, this being one of them.
@Weez2202 I was a member of the RCB and a few other Weezer boards back then. Rivers would send demos/mixes/setlists to us and also the main site for a consensus from the fans that drove Weezer out of the shadows and back into the limelight (pun intended) with The Green Album. The fact that the album failed always baffled me - listen to the album in the context in which it was born (Rivers' obsession with perfecting the pop song structure, demos which we all had a part in drafting, etc)...
Except Maladroit got good reviews for the most part. The hipsters at Pitchfork and a lot of the emotionally unstable die hard Weezer fans didn't like it, but overall it good good reviews and sold well. Yeah. You fail.
I would rank Maladroit as their 3rd best album

True, Maladroit is truly a masterpiece, but it's not that their new stuff is bad... although this was their peak. :3

Does this song remind anyone of "Losing my Religion" a little
The part where he says
Get yourself a wife.
Get yourself a job.
Just those 2 lines for some reason

I loved Maladroit. Although not as good as their 90's output, I enjoyed it more than The Green Album or Make Believe.

I just wish that Weezer would put out songs like this and songs with a Blue Album influence rather than the stuff on Make Believe.
