@SnoweyMan111 I have an argument for imperial so I am amazing.
For starters some of the imperial units are just the right size; for instance baking. With an imperial recipe one gets measurement like 1 cup, 1tbsp and or 1tsp. @77tubuck I would love to see that person. Because grams are just too damn precise to use in cooking.
But who does that. Because from your phrase either there's a missing "i know" in the sentance or it's something you found out and it's not a personal relation. Source?
It makes no sense really.
Never said being 100% metric is special. Just that there's really no point to not being 100% metric, being 80% confuses people. It does, learning two systems is not as easy as just one.
@SnoweyMan111 Some metric recipes use milliliters and some use grams depending on the country. If you don't believe me you can google a few metric recipes and find out for yourself. I agree grams are too precise for cooking thats why I don't use them. Secondly when people say imperial is confusing they are usually referring to the units that are no longer used or only used by certain industries. It's not that hard to remember that there are 12 inches in a foot;
@77tubuck True, but teaspoons and the likes still exist. A basic cooking mesurements set here (i saw a "pack" a while back, actually just a bunch of differently sized spoons with high edges) is 1 deciliter, 15 mililiter, 5 mililiter (1 teaspoon, or in the US, 4.9289mililiters, 15 mililiter mesurement->1 tablespoon)
And i think there's two more, I don't remember.
Everyone cooks with volume, not weight. Soooo, metric works well here. So what's 1 tablespoon in imperial? 1 U.S. tablespoon=1/2 oz.
Same issue as usual. The mesurements you use work well in one unit, when converted, it becomes unnecessarily complicated.
And remembering isn't the issue. 12 inches in a foot->what about 48 foot. How many inches? Sure it's simple math, but if I had meters and cm's it would be ridiculously easy math.
then there's:
5280 feet in a mile. Not as easy to remember or calculate as 1000 meters in a km.
@SnoweyMan111 I know it is easier to switch units in metric. That is one of the disadvantages of imperial but an advantage of imperial is the units are bigger. The inch is bigger than the cm and the foot is bigger than the dm. I work in inches but I don't have a problem with people using metric. There not much point of arguing over ones preference.
@77tubuck But does it matter? Really? If it's 3 times bigger does that matter?
It may seem it does for you. But really. I know the average length of a male is about 1.80m or 180cm.
It's not a real argument, it's simply that you don't use it that makes it awkward for you. Reason we're arguing is because you think you found an advantage imperial has over metric.
Remember that we started this because I asked for an argument for imperial, and you answerd.
@SnoweyMan111 Well I know another measurement that is 3 times bigger than a foot, It is a yard. Ever since the imperial system was invented we have had a measurement 1/3 the length of a yard. So I am not alone in finding the foot an intuitive size. You say it's that I don't use it that makes it awkward but you don't know during my first 7 years of school I only used metric. I respect and value your opinion and all.
NASAs metric to imperial conversions have caused enough explosions. In science, metric is more logical then imperial. There are 1.0 g/mol of hydrogen, how many ounces/mol are there of hydrogen? 1 cm^3 = 1 ml = 1 gram of water at 4 degrees (waters densest liquid form), it would be funny to look at this relation in imperial. All distance measurements are in the relation of 10^x in metric, in imperial you need conversions, like 5280 feet per mile.
A main argument for metrication is the global economy. In the global economy we are importing items from other countries that we could just as easily make here. The ships and trucks that bring products to us use oil. A system that is different from the rest of the world is a barrier to a global economy. i.e. companies need an extra set of stock measured in imperial. Anything that makes a global economy difficult is good.
wow! that's quite a stretch! that's like saying yo' mamma is the reason behind the AIDS epidemic in the States because she took an Air France flight back in the early 80's, and we all know that an Air France steward was linked to the proliferation of AIDS in the States. Therefore, had yo' mamma and thousands of others chose differently. Air France may have gone bankrupt and not existed to bring the virus over. TOUCHE' !
Yea you are right. I was just being a troll with my metric is harming the environment statement. I knew someone would take the bait. I do have a good point though global economy is not a good argument for metrication. Personally I don't care what system people use. To me the metric system is a tool scientist and engineers need.
Typical america. Always lagging behind...Still using the imperial system, still consuming oil like there is no tomorrow, still poluting like hell, still making big-ass cars that nobody wants, still have to pay thousands of dollar for medical care even if you're seriously injured.
I completely agree, we need to get metric now. I really like it when people say, "We can't use the metric system, it's un-American!" Well, yeah... remember that country across the pond, you know England? From whom we broke away in 1776? You know? We use their system, that's why it's called the English system. Not very American...
Yeah the imperial system may be British but do you know were the metric system came from. The metric system came from FRANCE :0 Metric system does not look that good now does it. What would you rather use something from England or France.
Just because something is from France doesn't bother me in the least (I am ametricamerica, I just deleted my old account because I don't use it.) I'm not one of those people who hates France for no reason. I choose to use the metric system because of it's advantages, not the country from which it came.
I don't hate the metric system because it came from France I was only kidding. I just hate the metric system because it's a communist plot. NO just kidding again. The metric system has it place. I just don't use it because for what I do I don't need to switch units and I like that inches are bigger.
Hello, I see your point. I am from Norway. We use the metric system all the way, But for some odd reason we use inches to define sizes of wooden planks. a four by four for example. We do not call it inches, we call it tommer. And a mile at sea is longer than a metric mile (10 km) on land. We also use fot to measure boats. It on its way out thou. Confusing sometimes.
Before doing ignorant comments telling that the metric system is for retard, just know what system they are using even in USA engineering, design or architecture... don't guess? the metric system! yeah because this is the US standard system that is totally retarded... so, just throw away your stupid inches, cup, miles or feet
I lived in a metric country but wonder why people still uses the inches when talking about: TV/monitor sizes, Penis length, and trousers size. Anybody got any idea???
Metric is for retards. Yes, you can x2, x5 and x10 easily. Sometimes you just have to move a dot. What about when you actually have to do a sum you can use your fingers and thumbs to work out though? When you need a third, a quarter, a sixth? Ten doesn't divide very easily into these measures.
Contrast with imperial; mostly base 12 rather than 10. There's a reason we don't have 10 hour days, 100 minute hours or 100 degree right angles. Metric's inventors tried it. Had to go imperial again.
But what happens if you try to divide 12 by 7? Or 12 by 11? Just because you can divide more things with 12 doesn't mean a thing. With the metric system you don't even need to divide by anything other than 10 or 5, as there aren't 3 feet in a yard, or 12 inches in a foot. It's 10 millimeters in a centimeter, 10 centimeters in a decimeter, etc. The metric system doesn't need fractions.
Well I was just explaining InTheRainstorms comment. I don't understand the American metric debate because I'm from Canada. I don't know what is metric and non-metric in America but in Canada we use a mix. For instance wood is sold in feet and inches. I can think of instances where imperial units have there advantages.
But one bars medium could be smaller than another bars. A consumer might think he is getting a cheaper bear when actually he is getting less beer. I think your taking things a bit too seriously if your worried about bars still using pints. Wait a minute you don't own a bar do you. I think you might be trying to cheat me out of some beer.
canada has already gone 90 percant metric the only reason why canada is not completly metric is because the american culture is 10 times bigger then canada and thus canada was never able to go 100 percant metric... Canada only uses the english system in people's weight ang height... and plus canada is 1/3 french
@mainchow10 Well you can use metric if you want to. Just because I use imperial don't let that stop you. Whats the problem? I though president Carter already introduced the metric system.
@77tubuck Carter didn't do shit. The US is still largely imperial like you guys.
I don't care about Canada. I'm an American.
Also, because of the rate of the US metrication population, the cost of keeping imperial in the US, it is likely that we'll switch by the end of 2019. You can use imperial if you want.
We are officialy metric in most things like litres for selling petrol, kg for loose goods in shops and so on. Not many people ask for things in grams or kg because it is easier in lb's and ounces. Personaly I think the metric system is crap and the americans are quite right to keep their system, the metre is'nt even accurate anyway.
Yeah, a meter is a meter. It's just a measured size. The only way a meter could be inaccurate, it would be the measurement tool you're using that's measuring wrong.
Im from Britain as well. I prefer lb's and ounces too. Even though some things are measured in grams and kilograms, people here still talk in Imperial rather than Metric. The
Hey! I've thrown away the U.S. customary units to a large scale. I've been going metric every day for roughly two years now. I'm sure there are other Americans that are doing the same thing.
Well I think they are good reasons to stay imperial. What is wrong with the reasons I have given you? Your not giving me very good arguments. Imperial is here to stay!
I want to make it clear I'm not against metric. I have lived in Canada my hole life so I learned metric in school and I'm glad I learned metric. However i think there are some places were the imperial units work better. Canada uses a mix of metric and imperial so I am not in a position to tell America what to use.
1) You don't order a "xxx ml. beer", you just say a small, medium or large cup which equals to 250ml, 500ml and 1 litre.
2) Yes, that's a good point. But consider that 1 in. = 2,5 cm, so it's not very difficult to identify a standard margin as 2 cm and a half.
3) Why? If the receipe says "add 1/2 litre of milk" I just take my bottle (which contains 1 litre of milk) and use a half of it. For flour, sugar and other things recepies usually say "take two spoons or 50g of..."
Than think of how difficult is converting these units. If I have a pack with 2 lbs of sugar and I need 2 oz of it I have to use some maths. If I have 1 kg of sugar and I need 300 grams I already know that its almost a third of the pack. Wake up, the only countries that don't use metric system are US and two countries of the third world!
Wow I thought the US did use metric. I thought the US did use metric. I am all for metrication but throwing people in jail because they ordered a pint is too extream for me. You can't order a small cup of beer because a cup is an imperial measurement. Two oz of 2lb is 1/8 come on I can do that in my head.
No other nation forces its offspring to use two-system rulers and waste valuable time memorizing the number one multiplies 4.78 cm by to make it inches. Alas, many (most?) American students mindlessly plug in units from the data. The lucky ones have a vague idea of what size they represent. The single biggest boost to American math and science scores would be the immediate withdrawal of U.S. customary from our schools. It is EASY! Peace, prosperity & proficiency would soon follow.
Teaching children two measurement systems is an utter waste of time, a form of mental torture, and a surefire way to ensure a significant percent of them will know neither system well. All the world, except for the U.S., teaches the base ten structure of SI (metric) measurement. Cuisenaire rods, Dienes blocks, and metric rulers are fabulous tools for children to learn measurement and number sense simultaneously and with ease.
I live in Norway. We learned about some imperial measurment early in school. Never in math. In everyday use we only use inches when talking about screensize and tires. Feet when talking about boats. But its really just annoying cause it would work better with meters. I actually dident know before that so many americans still used those old ways of measuring. Kinda funny.

Yeah, the meters are just awesome! How come government never thought about have cool is to be metric. I am personally got metric and there are whole bunch of ladies around me all the time. US should definitely do the same!
If you measure temperature in Monkeypoints, it will be same, becase people get use to. Celsius is good for + = warm, - = cold. Kelvin is better to lab, because it is only + [For counting].
And 500ml = 5dl = 0.5l [because Mili means 1000 and DECI means 10.] 2l = 20dl = 2000ml.
One quibble which I have with this video is that it was actually President Ford who endorsed the original metric legislation...President Carter actually helped kill the 1970s metric push by appointing anti-metric people (supposedly for "balance") to the US metric board.
Well, everything is going metric. Slowly but steadily. All American auto industry switched to metric a while ago, the food and medicine nutritional information given exclusively in metric, the science and engineering are both metric, and God knows what else is metric. I, being raised in a metric country, don't experience any inconvenience living in America because everything I buy either has a fully metric label or a mixed Imperial/metric one.
Pray that never happens, if it does you can bet that it will be used as an opportunity to permanently raise the threshold of what people pay for gas. It is difficult to accurately make a mental conversion from gallons to liters. The stations will have a field day selling overpriced fuel to people who don't have a clue what they're really paying.
It's not a valid argument. Everyone understands that certain difficulties are inevitable during the conversion; however, petrol stations should not use it as an opportunity to raise the cost of fuel. Otherwise, they will really have a hard time explaining why the price of petrol went up while the price of crude oil remained the same.
People wouldn't know that price went up because it's hard to do the conversion of 3.78 liters to the gallon. People would mentally round it up to 4 liters. Also what benefit would come from the conversion? It would cost millions of dollars to convert every pump over to liters, change signs, etc. But would the benefit be? I can't see any possible improvement that would come from buying gas by the liter instead of the gallon, just a senseless waste of time and money.
Let me add that I'm not anti-metric, but it only makes sense to switch when there will be a benefit. It makes sense to make products we plan to export to metric specifications since they the customers will want that. However, changing to liters for gas makes no sense and Fahrenheit is superior for outdoor temperatures since it covers a larger spectrum of actual outdoor temperatures.
Both Fahrenheit and Celsius cover the full range of possible temperatures...only the zero point and degree size are different. In Celsius, the zero point is at freezing (instead of 32), while the degree size is based on the difference between boiling (100) and freezing (0).
With Fahrenheit, typical outdoor temperatures can range from -10 to 110, a spectrun of 120 degrees. With Celsius the spectrum of possible outdoor temperatures is less than half of that. Fahrenheit delivers better percision for outdoor temperatures. Celsius is great for the science lab, but a dud for measuring outdoor temperature.
A scale ranging from 0 to 500 would be even more precise but not more useful. Celsius and Fahrenheit are both precise enough for everyday life. Whether it's 54 or 55 F is not going to change my choice of jacket. It's really more a matter of what you're used to. Celsius actually works well for everyday use...0 to 10 is cold, 10 to 20 cool, 20 to 30 warm, 30 to 40 hot, and above 40 is desert heat. Most of the world population (95%) uses Celsius everyday for everything with no problem at all.
I would say it was vice-versa Fahrenheit is much better in science labs where you have much less margins. Celsius is better as an everyday tool, 0 C. ok it might be ice on the road.
Ehh, metrical system ranges from absolute zero −273.15 C or 0 kelvin, and has no upper limit. So unless your outdoor temperature is less than −273.15 C/−459.67 °F. You can use Celsius, although I believe that would be your least concern when your garden is colder than anything ever measured.:-/
The argument that using one unit over another will somehow raise the overall cost of gas is nonsensical in a free market. Regardless of the units used, competition will ensure that short term spikes and bubbles are stabilized over the long haul. Also, the cost to convert gas pumps would be minimal since they are virtually all electronic now (and older mechanical pumps could be grandfathered in, as necessary).
SO AMERICA SHOULD BECOME METRIC BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE lS METRIC? AND BECAUSE IMPERIALS COUNTRY OF ORIGIN BRITAIN DOESNT USE METRIC OR ANY OF EUROPE FOR THAT MATTER DOESNT USE METRIC ANYMORE? THATS STUPID. THATS LIKE SAYING JUST BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE SPEAK ENGLISH EVERYONE SHOULD SPEAK ENGLISH. O SHl
@ZEROEVILDARKCOOL damn ur stupid.. America can fckn shove their imperial system up theirs.. Rest of the world uses (and so should america) metric system because its easy to understand with everything multipied & divided by 10...

@77tubuck Metric is the better system overall. Imperial may be eaqual in some areas but Metric is so much simpler and easy to keep track of.
Metric excells in unit conversion. Imperial sucks in unit conversion.
But ofc if you don't change the units imperial is just as good. Just a lil bit confusing to the majority of earth.
There's no arguments for Imperial really. Except maybe "I'm used to it". But that's not a good one.

77tubuck 11 months ago
@77tubuck But does it matter? Really? If it's 3 times bigger does that matter?
It may seem it does for you. But really. I know the average length of a male is about 1.80m or 180cm.
It's not a real argument, it's simply that you don't use it that makes it awkward for you. Reason we're arguing is because you think you found an advantage imperial has over metric.
Remember that we started this because I asked for an argument for imperial, and you answerd.
You can use imperial, don't mind.
SnoweyMan111 11 months ago
@SnoweyMan111 Well I know another measurement that is 3 times bigger than a foot, It is a yard. Ever since the imperial system was invented we have had a measurement 1/3 the length of a yard. So I am not alone in finding the foot an intuitive size. You say it's that I don't use it that makes it awkward but you don't know during my first 7 years of school I only used metric. I respect and value your opinion and all.
77tubuck 11 months ago
NASAs metric to imperial conversions have caused enough explosions. In science, metric is more logical then imperial. There are 1.0 g/mol of hydrogen, how many ounces/mol are there of hydrogen? 1 cm^3 = 1 ml = 1 gram of water at 4 degrees (waters densest liquid form), it would be funny to look at this relation in imperial. All distance measurements are in the relation of 10^x in metric, in imperial you need conversions, like 5280 feet per mile.

So how, pray tell, is the metric system destroying the environment? It's rare that I'll listen to such bilge but this one tops the list.
Aleowiciuos 2 years ago
A main argument for metrication is the global economy. In the global economy we are importing items from other countries that we could just as easily make here. The ships and trucks that bring products to us use oil. A system that is different from the rest of the world is a barrier to a global economy. i.e. companies need an extra set of stock measured in imperial. Anything that makes a global economy difficult is good.
77tubuck 2 years ago
wow! that's quite a stretch! that's like saying yo' mamma is the reason behind the AIDS epidemic in the States because she took an Air France flight back in the early 80's, and we all know that an Air France steward was linked to the proliferation of AIDS in the States. Therefore, had yo' mamma and thousands of others chose differently. Air France may have gone bankrupt and not existed to bring the virus over. TOUCHE' !
Aleowiciuos 2 years ago
Yea you are right. I was just being a troll with my metric is harming the environment statement. I knew someone would take the bait. I do have a good point though global economy is not a good argument for metrication. Personally I don't care what system people use. To me the metric system is a tool scientist and engineers need.

77tubuck 3 years ago
Hello, I see your point. I am from Norway. We use the metric system all the way, But for some odd reason we use inches to define sizes of wooden planks. a four by four for example. We do not call it inches, we call it tommer. And a mile at sea is longer than a metric mile (10 km) on land. We also use fot to measure boats. It on its way out thou. Confusing sometimes.

I lived in a metric country but wonder why people still uses the inches when talking about: TV/monitor sizes, Penis length, and trousers size. Anybody got any idea???
avcomth 3 years ago
Metric is for retards. Yes, you can x2, x5 and x10 easily. Sometimes you just have to move a dot. What about when you actually have to do a sum you can use your fingers and thumbs to work out though? When you need a third, a quarter, a sixth? Ten doesn't divide very easily into these measures.
Contrast with imperial; mostly base 12 rather than 10. There's a reason we don't have 10 hour days, 100 minute hours or 100 degree right angles. Metric's inventors tried it. Had to go imperial again.
InTheRainstorm 3 years ago
uhh its really simple to divide with the metric
100/3=33.3 repeating (other number 66.6)
100/6=16.6
and all the other numbers are easy too, most of this is just something you know by daily life
WaterCow12 3 years ago 9
Yes you can divide 100 by 3 but you can't divide 100 by 3 and get an even number. If you divide 12 by 3 you get 4 a nice even number.
77tubuck 3 years ago
But what happens if you try to divide 12 by 7? Or 12 by 11? Just because you can divide more things with 12 doesn't mean a thing. With the metric system you don't even need to divide by anything other than 10 or 5, as there aren't 3 feet in a yard, or 12 inches in a foot. It's 10 millimeters in a centimeter, 10 centimeters in a decimeter, etc. The metric system doesn't need fractions.
BlenderMan423 3 years ago
Well I was just explaining InTheRainstorms comment. I don't understand the American metric debate because I'm from Canada. I don't know what is metric and non-metric in America but in Canada we use a mix. For instance wood is sold in feet and inches. I can think of instances where imperial units have there advantages.

"a cup" is also a thing, not only a unit. Just say "a medium beer", they will give you half a litre.

Not all other countrys. Britain, despite being partially metricated, still has the following exemptions:
Draight beer: Pints, in any case, selling it in half litres would con us.
Road Signs: Miles, yards, and occasionally inches MUST be used, but metric may be used in conjunction with imperial (on height restrction signs.
Land: Acres are still used.
Precious metals: Troy ounces used.

TheKyGuy 4 years ago 3
This comment has received too many negative votes show
The U.S. customary units have there advantages.
1) It is easier to just order a pint of beer rather a couple of hundred milliliters of beer.
2) The inch is a nice unit for word processing because it is proportional to the standard margin size.
3) Baking is easier with cups and table spoons
Metric has it's advantages for scientific applications but imperial is easier for everyday life.
77tubuck 4 years ago

I want to make it clear I'm not against metric. I have lived in Canada my hole life so I learned metric in school and I'm glad I learned metric. However i think there are some places were the imperial units work better. Canada uses a mix of metric and imperial so I am not in a position to tell America what to use.
77tubuck 3 years ago
1) You don't order a "xxx ml. beer", you just say a small, medium or large cup which equals to 250ml, 500ml and 1 litre.
2) Yes, that's a good point. But consider that 1 in. = 2,5 cm, so it's not very difficult to identify a standard margin as 2 cm and a half.
3) Why? If the receipe says "add 1/2 litre of milk" I just take my bottle (which contains 1 litre of milk) and use a half of it. For flour, sugar and other things recepies usually say "take two spoons or 50g of..."
LoreSka 3 years ago 4
Than think of how difficult is converting these units. If I have a pack with 2 lbs of sugar and I need 2 oz of it I have to use some maths. If I have 1 kg of sugar and I need 300 grams I already know that its almost a third of the pack. Wake up, the only countries that don't use metric system are US and two countries of the third world!
LoreSka 3 years ago 3

SupportWeThePeopleKB 4 years ago
Teaching children two measurement systems is an utter waste of time, a form of mental torture, and a surefire way to ensure a significant percent of them will know neither system well. All the world, except for the U.S., teaches the base ten structure of SI (metric) measurement. Cuisenaire rods, Dienes blocks, and metric rulers are fabulous tools for children to learn measurement and number sense simultaneously and with ease.
SupportWeThePeopleKB 4 years ago 2
I live in Norway. We learned about some imperial measurment early in school. Never in math. In everyday use we only use inches when talking about screensize and tires. Feet when talking about boats. But its really just annoying cause it would work better with meters. I actually dident know before that so many americans still used those old ways of measuring. Kinda funny.

Well, everything is going metric. Slowly but steadily. All American auto industry switched to metric a while ago, the food and medicine nutritional information given exclusively in metric, the science and engineering are both metric, and God knows what else is metric. If only gas stations sold in liters instead of gallons.
TheKyGuy 5 years ago
Pray that never happens, if it does you can bet that it will be used as an opportunity to permanently raise the threshold of what people pay for gas. It is difficult to accurately make a mental conversion from gallons to liters. The stations will have a field day selling overpriced fuel to people who don't have a clue what they're really paying.
flkjeio 5 years ago
It's not a valid argument. Everyone understands that certain difficulties are inevitable during the conversion; however, petrol stations should not use it as an opportunity to raise the cost of fuel. Otherwise, they will really have a hard time explaining why the price of petrol went up while the price of crude oil remained the same.
munchen0358 5 years ago
People wouldn't know that price went up because it's hard to do the conversion of 3.78 liters to the gallon. People would mentally round it up to 4 liters. Also what benefit would come from the conversion? It would cost millions of dollars to convert every pump over to liters, change signs, etc. But would the benefit be? I can't see any possible improvement that would come from buying gas by the liter instead of the gallon, just a senseless waste of time and money.
flkjeio 5 years ago
Let me add that I'm not anti-metric, but it only makes sense to switch when there will be a benefit. It makes sense to make products we plan to export to metric specifications since they the customers will want that. However, changing to liters for gas makes no sense and Fahrenheit is superior for outdoor temperatures since it covers a larger spectrum of actual outdoor temperatures.
flkjeio 5 years ago
Both Fahrenheit and Celsius cover the full range of possible temperatures...only the zero point and degree size are different. In Celsius, the zero point is at freezing (instead of 32), while the degree size is based on the difference between boiling (100) and freezing (0).
albanaco 4 years ago
With Fahrenheit, typical outdoor temperatures can range from -10 to 110, a spectrun of 120 degrees. With Celsius the spectrum of possible outdoor temperatures is less than half of that. Fahrenheit delivers better percision for outdoor temperatures. Celsius is great for the science lab, but a dud for measuring outdoor temperature.
flkjeio 4 years ago
A scale ranging from 0 to 500 would be even more precise but not more useful. Celsius and Fahrenheit are both precise enough for everyday life. Whether it's 54 or 55 F is not going to change my choice of jacket. It's really more a matter of what you're used to. Celsius actually works well for everyday use...0 to 10 is cold, 10 to 20 cool, 20 to 30 warm, 30 to 40 hot, and above 40 is desert heat. Most of the world population (95%) uses Celsius everyday for everything with no problem at all.
albanaco 4 years ago
I would say it was vice-versa Fahrenheit is much better in science labs where you have much less margins. Celsius is better as an everyday tool, 0 C. ok it might be ice on the road.
plainlake 4 years ago
Ehh, metrical system ranges from absolute zero −273.15 C or 0 kelvin, and has no upper limit. So unless your outdoor temperature is less than −273.15 C/−459.67 °F. You can use Celsius, although I believe that would be your least concern when your garden is colder than anything ever measured.:-/
plainlake 4 years ago
The argument that using one unit over another will somehow raise the overall cost of gas is nonsensical in a free market. Regardless of the units used, competition will ensure that short term spikes and bubbles are stabilized over the long haul. Also, the cost to convert gas pumps would be minimal since they are virtually all electronic now (and older mechanical pumps could be grandfathered in, as necessary).
