i have been searching Youtube for this song. i heard it on the radio as kid in the 70's frequently and the it just disappeared and i couldnt remember it's title. Thank you so much for posting this. :o)
WOW. I haven't heard this since I had the 45 when this came out. Assuming this came out in 76' (after the movie in 75'), I was 10 when I got this 45. I guess I haven't heard it since then....and it was so big when it came out. So clever at the time. And I can't believe how much I remembered. It just brings back great memories. And for those of you who think this is "gay" (like someone posted), you obviously weren't a kid in the mid-70's and you just don't get it.
@carol4nn Tell me about it! I was living in Daytona Beach at the time, and I saw it in a theatre RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE BEACH! People were literally afraid to go in the water. That summer a kid from Milwaukee lost a leg to a shark off a pier by the Boardwalk because he was swimming where people were fishing! People were very uneducated then!
These radio parodies were great. I tried to tell my boys about the radio parody from the blizzard of '78. Does anyone have a conection to that one? I belive I heard it on Chicago radio, mabe AM wmaq or with Larry Lujack WLS. Any help with the soundtrack or group would be appreciated.
Dynamite- JJ "Good Times" Please Mr Please - Olivia Newton John How Sweet it is - Marvin Gaye Why cant we be friends - WAR Do a little dance - KC/Sunshine band do the hustle - Soul City Symphony I will - Captain/Tennille Rhinestone Cowboy - Glen Campbell Get you baby one of these nights/Eagles Jive Talking - Bee Gees Big boys dont cry - Im not in love/10cc Wouldnt you give your hand /Midnight Blue - Melissa Manchester
Holy schnit, haven't heard that since I was 10, prolly 77. Blast from the past. There's no room for wonkiness in todays culture. Everyone is too cool.
Thank you i was telling my uncle about this playing on the radio way back when and i was a kid in the 70's i never forgot it and it still just as funny
Yes, you did something. Saying "American humor" was a racist comment. It would be the same thing if someone had said "Swedish idiocy." Think about what you say next time. If you didn't like the video, criticise that item of the video, not where it came from. Not "being born" at that time is no excuse for your comment.
I have been looking for this for years! I remember it in like first or second grade music class. lol...always think of this song when I hear, "Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight!"
I think of it whenever I hear ANY of the songs featured in the parody. Especially these parts: "Big boys don't cry..." and "Wouldn't you give your hand to a friend". My hubby and I will look at each other and say, "Mr. Jaws!!" LOL I've been trying to explain this recording to my kids and now I can just play it for them. Thanks to beetlejuiceflorida for posting it!
LOL I loved this when I was a kid and in 7th grade music class we all had to do skits and my partner and I did this song. LOL teacher bout fell out of her chair laughing so hard. Thank you for posting it.
"Jive Talkin" was a slang phrase back in the '70's, it basically means that you're talking but not being realistic about what you're saying. For further proof, research songs by the Bee Gee's, they performed the song "Jive Talkin'."
LOL i love this! well, in school we are doing something like this but like it is an interview like this and the answer to the questions are songs! lol woo!
I love dickie goodman and mr jaws he did in the seventies. Only thing i did'nt like on this video was the remake song of rhinestone cowboy and please mr please. some of that stuff is on one of the dickie goodman cd's that dos'nt sound too good as the original songs that break in like mr jaws.
weren't teachers cooler then? my fifth grade teacher, Mr.Grillo, let us listen to Mr.Jaws, the Blues Brothers, Cheech and Chong..all kinds of cool stuff...good old days indeed.
Being a teacher in training, I agree with you but I also offer an explanation. Today's teachers don't have as much freedom as they used to. There are very strict regulations concerning what kind of material can be brought into a classroom.

And you did an excellent job of syncing up clips from the movie with the record. Dickie Goodman would have loved it.
