  • Good effort explaining a difficult concept for foreigners to understand. One problem though, I am from Northern Ireland, so I was surprised to hear the Republic of Ireland's anthem 'The Soldier's Song' which sings about bashing the Brits, played In a post conflict NI, personally I think we should have St Patrick's Saltire as the flag and Londonderry Air as the anthem. But that is just my 2p's worth :-)

One problem though, I am from Northern Ireland, so I was surprised to hear the Republic of Ireland's anthem 'The Soldier's Song' which sings about bashing the Brits, played as our anthem :-) Northern Ireland's flag and anthem are not constitutionally sanctioned, only the Union Flag is, but the unofficial anthem of Northern Ireland (played for the Commonwealth Games team) is 'Londonderry Air' (Also known as Danny Boy).
