I recently observed a red tail hawk eat a smaller snake, probably a garter snake. It was about 18-24 inches long. The hawk had its head in its mouth and flew up to a branch, looked around a bit and swallowed it like a strand of spaghetti. Oh, to have had video!

Incredible red tailed hawks..I saw one stalking a bald eagle..I didn't see any harassing but I know for sure it likely has been done...there is a hawk nest in the area and in summer I don't think that eagle is welcomed at all!
