  • it means' Hello, I am Michael Palin. Travel with me around the world. Sit comfortably, while I freeze, sweat, draw myself, cry and suffer. From pole to pole, an adventurous yet torturous journey. But you must exert yourself a little too. Take part in our competition. It's easy. I ask a question. The answer is a number, which can be found in the following: I will give you the address at the end of the programme, answers on a postcard please

  • You can win a signed copy of the book from the series- my book.

But that’s not all, there’s also the star prize.- 3 pairs of plane tickets on Lufthansa. Just add up the ten numerical answers. The answer is also the distance in kilometres that the winner will travel. And now the question:- Which meridian do I travel along on my journey from pole to pole? All clear? Now, let’s go!

  • the 2nd part reads first sorry

  • LOL! That is sooooooo cute!! You can tell he's struggling ha-ha-ha-ah-ha! Does anyone know what he's saying?

  • He says: Hallo, ich bin Michael Palin. (I did not understand that part), heule, leide. Es geht von Pol zu Pol. Eine aufregende Tour-Tortur-Tour... Abenteuer.

Alles klar? Dann geht's jetzt los! You have to translate it youself;-)

  • Lol! It doesn't make a lick of sense. Well, kind of. Silly Babelfish!

  • Do you still want to know what it means in English?

  • god, it's so damn funny to hear him in german, it's pretty hard for him to pronounce things, but at least he tries, but it's much easier for me to speak and write then for him, i suppose.

    thanks for posting that!!!!!!!!!!

  • But his german is really very good here, even if he has to struggle a bit here and there. I don´t know if he actually speaks german, i guess they wrote it down for him phonetically, but still...

  • According to the history of the German specials, him and John Cleese were the only ones who could speak German understandably, and didn't have an overhanging thick British accent...

So he might speak German, or at least have picked up on a bit of it.
