Other parts of the brain are responsible for processing this information, but just because those structures aren't there does not mean an anencephalic child cannot experience these sense. And contrary to popular belief, not all babies with this condition die at birth; 25% live between 1 and 5 days, 50% live up to one day.

When I lost my son to this it taught me a big lesson and one I carry to this day, nothing it too big for us to handle and we will survive and grow from the pain. That is why these things happen... for the lesson.

I had a baby boy 13 yrs ago born with this exact condition. He didn't live. I elected to have him early for fear of pain felt when all his neuro endings were intact.
It was not an easy decision. It was a very personal decision.

Anencephaly is a neural tube defect. The only part of the brain that develops is the brain stem, i.e., none of the higher parts of the brain develop. They are biologically alive because the stem allows for cardio-respiratory function, but they have no consciousness. I don't know if it is caused by chemical weapons or not. Women are advised to take lots of folic acid to prevent it, or any other neural tube defect (e.g., spina bifida).
It was the Iranian goverment that first presented proof to the U.N. during the 1980's 8 year war against Saddam. Also the Kurdish people have been presenting proof to the U.N. since the late 70's. It's all in the U.N. archives.
So the cause of this particular case of anencephaly was definitely and incontrovertibly chemical weapons. That is CONFIRMED, is it? There is no grounds for doubt whatsoever?

@anrexfk There have been a few rare cases of a person who survives this. Of course, they are pretty much vegetables. It is sad, and a horrible thing for a parent to go through. People who make fun of this only reminds me of the morons out there. When I lost my son to this it taught me a big lesson and one I carry to this day, nothing it too big for us to handle and we will survive and grow from the pain. That is why these things happen... for the lesson.

@mamakatburner I never said anything about letting a baby "live" but after it's born and if by rare chance it does indeed live, if you kill to "save it from pain" then you will go to jail for murder. I elected to give birth early @ 17 weeks...it is called an abortion but I did it in a hospital surrounded by doctors and nurses, I held my son and laid him to rest. This is a rare, severe birth defect. What 's going on for all you morons out there, the baby was born without a top skull, or cranium.
It's happens at the very earliest stages after conception.
Some humans can survive, most don't. It's a horrible thing for a parent to go through. So show some compassion for those out there suffering from their child's condition. And have some heart for those out there who survive this horrible and I am sure very painful birth defect.

I had a baby boy 13 yrs ago born with this exact condition. He didn't live. I elected to have him early for fear of pain felt when all his neuro endings were intact.
It was not an easy decision. It was a very personal decision.
One that only the person who is going through it can make.

Not because the brainless body growing inside me deserved the right to blah, blah, blah. But for the organs. It would be my duty as a mother to help a viable child with the organs I was incubating. Though heart wrenching. Then the pregnancy would be worth it. But if I found out early on, I'd abort. Until it happens to you, who knows what they'd do?

Anencephaly is a neural tube defect. The only part of the brain that develops is the brain stem, i.e., none of the higher parts of the brain develop. They are biologically alive because the stem allows for cardio-respiratory function, but they have no consciousness. I don't know if it is caused by chemical weapons or not. Women are advised to take lots of folic acid to prevent it, or any other neural tube defect (e.g., spina bifida).
