great tutorial, I just got one problem:

when I paste my null layer, the only thing that happens is that a red square appears in my composition viewer. I dont get any motion. Im pretty sure that the motion information is in the null layer, because when I click on my footage with motion, it sas targeted to 'layer null'.

Hope you can help me :S I really want to use this technique:)

@petenicezz do you believe in sharing? If you do, check torrents for CS5. You are going to need Win Vista/7 64bit to install everything available on CS5. It is a very large torrent. 13GB total, 2 DVDs. If you don't believe in sharing, it is only $879 for students or teachers (which I have), or $1900 for every other mortal. Or you can go AE only for $1000 full version or $299 upgrade. There are many versions to chose from so there are many prices. Remember, 64bit Windows Vista/7 required for AE.

@petenicezz Oh pete... poor pete. This video is for AE v7.0. CS5 has AE v10.0. If you have CS5 you have v10.0. v = version. I never wrote V10 but it should mean the same as v10, which is version 10.

the wiggler sucks (except in explosions/ earthquakes), but the wiggle expression gives pretty handheld-looking results if you have a low speed and a high intensity.  That's how I do most of my shots.

This is really a great idea! I had never thought of tracking some actual moving footage and then applying that null to a second composition but it makes sense! I will play around with this because I am still getting roboty type camera moves using other techniques.... Great work....One bit of feedback it would have been nice to see the guitar footage and then the completed composite footage so that we can see how much the camera moved...

Just zoom in a bit, and then moove it around, by making the video layer 3D, and thne just moove it around a bit.

You can manipulate the wiggles in graph mode. You can manipulate any keyframing in graph mode.

A new graphic card would be good .But most of the time After effects uses your procesor and memory.

Hey i have after effects standard, so i don't have motion tracking but could i use icarus to do that and than just import the data in After Effects
