Always thought this to be one of their heavier tunes. Probably because it's slower with more crunching guitar work than most of the faster rockers on previous albums.
listen to the drums on this album and then listen to Bonham's drums on presence (Zeppelin's worst album, but still decent IMO) They sound similar. I believe they used the same studio.
The only thing that kept Sweet from positions occupied by bands such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin etc... was that the British promoters were so conservative they only went to the bathroom once a week. If they didn't have a 'sure thing' they didn't invest their time of day. Even when Sweet hit number 1 with hits like The Ballroom Blitz, they were asleep. "They are just a fad" they said. Sweet is the single most under-rated bands in the history of modern music.
Damn i hear where angel got their sound and image from? What year is this one from.. No way Is it late 60s? Or is it ? If they have an album, from 67 68 i would like to hear that..Why don't i just look it up on wiki, Oh shit ADHD kicked in again i forgot what the hell i was looking for?..And we used to blame not being able to think from drugs..!aH
Lovely Memories ,my heart beats on , i love this so much now good 40 years after Zappa Zeppelin Srv and Jazzy etc... ,i hear a lot of music ,but i love this Band, this time this sound - Brian and the others .., only GREAT
Loved these guys since I was 13!!!! Now im 47!!!!! Saw them twice in Australia and had a ball dancing on the stage with them!!!!!!! Long live the Sweet Music!!!!!!!!! Andy Scott Rules!!!!!!!!
they're so very good as ever 'till their last songs. love them and still listened to them. this song was my very first english one when i was only 16. the record was brought by a turkish guy whose parents were working in germany.
If one hears songs like "Healer", "Windy city", "Set me free" or also "Rebel rouser", the Sweet on her brilliant albums published, one gets really the feeling that the boys were totally underestimated in the rock scene and were pressed wrongfully in the Bubble Gum drawer. She forced the Chinn/Chapman machinery to mainstream. Still today songs like "Healer" are great. Best rockin' greetings from Germany. Keep on rockin'!!
A stunning song from a classic seventies album. Btw the only christian-lyrics Sweet song I know, and it took me more than 30 years to figure it out. Brian C was one of the most underrated singers during the seventies, and Sweet one of the most underrated bands. Guess all the Chinnichap stuff and the bubblegum lyrics ruined their cred early on, but these guys still rocks 35-40 years later, and that's a legacy on it's own. I'm 45 years old, but this song makes me remember the seventies still :o)
I had this album in vynil 33RPM. Back in the seventies, Sweet was one of the most popular bands in my school. Very good memories. I'm 47 now and still one of my favorites.
I agree, they won't, and it's sad 'cause they were great musicians and had great songs. Here in Mexico they were well known and had lot of fans. I don't know if they were already inducted to the Hall of Fame, if not, they should be. Don't you think ?
Sitting here as a 47 year old...listening & remembering.....Ive got most from the Sweet on PC in my private workshop, way out on the countryside, and a magnificent good old stereo with 12 speakers....I just might go deaf one day....But never mind....
the first song I ever killed. I had the 8-track. I was in the Marines. I played it loud in the empty barracks on Saturday nights. i thought they were so underground. I didn't think there was another fan in the world. ...here's smilin' at all of ya.
I love this band. Nobody played like they did. And Brian's vocals—one of the best in rock history. It's just a shame America didn't embrace Sweet fully like the rest of world did. Pity.
The whole album is absolutely fantastic and over the last 30+ years, this ultra-cool track has become part of my life's soundtrack. Next to Purple's Made in Japan and Nazareth's Razamanaz, I think have probably played this album the most. Sweet rocks!!!!!
Oh, while I'm here... I bought the album Strung Up while in Germany and it was a double album - 1st LP was the studio tracks and the 2nd LP was live. Unfortunately it got pinched and all the Strung Up albums I've found since are just 1 LP? Can anyone shed any light on that? When I ask for the double album I just get blank looks! HELP!!!
Originally it was a double album, you're right. RCA Limited edition 1975, one LP - live (7 songs) and another - studio (10 songs). It was more like mixture of best songs from Desolation Boulevard, Sweet F.A. and single hits. Inside review was written by Tony Prince, famous D.J. from Radio Luxembourg at the time.
Ah yes, Tony Prince - remember him well. Good old 208! I didn't realise it was a limited edition, now I am even more gutted! Thanks for the info though Jad, much appreciated.
An awesome song. I grew up with the Sweet - my favourite band now, then and I suspect ALWAYS! Used to play this track to death and I've never tired of it - it just rocks! And the album sleeve with the winking eye - brilliant! PLAY IT LOUD!!!
Your're welcome. I'm glad you like Sweet tracks that were not released as singles. I thought I would put on some album tracks that people have never heard so they get an idea as to the talent that is sadly missed.
thanks for sharing. I have not listened to this in a long time. I still have the album and it is wild because you can make the cover wink. I just dont have a record player that works. thanks
first time i'v heard this, guess what, I LOVE IT x

this is my fav sweet tune. I was there in 76 when this album came out. I used to play this in
an empty squadbay when i was a kid in the Marines. The acoustic were so dynamic I thought
I was experiencing something spiritual. It is so good to hear people enjoying this song and
saying what I always knew, that this song rocks. god bless your groove.
