Great idea for breakfast. I purchased quinoa @ nuts.com at a reasonable price. One question. I'm a food controlled diabetic. Is carob powder have natural sugar not to spike my blood count? Thank-you Heather
@ageless15 carob shouldn't have too much of an impact on your blood sugar levels, especially in small amounts. it has less natural sugars than fruit, but depending on how careful you need to be you could try a little bit first to see how it goes for you
Quinoa is an Incan super food/protein originated from PERU, highly regarded in that culture for its nutritional benefits. Just a quick fact, Thanks :)
This looks great and I can't wait to try it. I hope you won't mind this off-topic question...Is that an electric hot water maker on your counter? I have wanted to purchase one, but am concerned about the effect of the heat on the plastic leaching chemicals, etc. Do you have any thoughts or information on this? Thanks so much for any info you can provide.
oh lord. so i actually searched 'vegan breakfast recipes', def not lookin for quinoa recipes, but clicked this because I was drawn in my your sexiness. But allllllright, This quinoa recipe is pretty good. damn good actually.
just tried this.. it was really good... i had to double the carob powder part though(used 2 bananas too) because with just what you used in here, it didn't really taste chocolately to me.... i also didn't use any non dairy milk.. i used 3 cups water, which could have changed the taste too....
Wow, this looks really tasty! I've made quinoa but never in this variation. Quinoa is very bland tasting to me even when I add a viariety of veggies to it. But this recipe I'll have to give a try. Never tried carob powder but have seen it at my local health food store. Plan to pick some up and make this dish...Thanks!
@avasephora, carob powder can be purchased at most health food stores or even bulk food stores. Our grocery store carries it too. Cocoa powder is much easier to find, but it is bitter. Both carob and cocoa are loaded with minerals!
@avasephora FKinTheCoffee already answered your question, but yeah you're perfect. If you want more info, go to healthy eating starts here dot com /calorie-calculator and you can plug in your values to get your BMI and calorie intake recommendations. And InvisiMan2006 answered your other question - I buy carob powder at Bulk Barn or an organic grocery store :)
@healthyvegan YOU SHOULD ADD SOME NICE FRUITS TO YOUR RECIPE LIKE BERRIES, PEACHES AND MELONS, I THINK IT WOULD BE MORE BALANCED FOR BREAKFAST..COMBINE THAT WITH A NICE CUP OF TEA AND THAT COULD BE A GREAT MORNING START, ESPECIALLY FOR THE WINTER
@whothehellgivesadamn Seriously, all jokes aside, no one you respect has ever explained that writing in all capital letters is hard to read for most people? And that it connotates shouting? Please don't call me names for asking you a question. Thanks.
@oneferna I WRITE IN CAPITALS BECAUSE JUST LIKE HEATHER, I AM SUPER DUPER AWESOME...MY POSTS ARE EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT AND EXTREMELY VALUABLE...I'M ALSO NOT ARGUING WITH ANY TROLLS ON HEATHER'S VIDEOS BECAUSE HEATHER ASKED ME NOT TO...I LOVE HEATHER, SHE IS JUST SO FANTASTIC.....END OF MESSAGE....
@whothehellgivesadamn Fair enough. I thought about why I care so much about your communication style since I posted that yesterday and I think I care because you remind me of when my Mom started using the Internet years ago and was writing in all caps for a while. It took awhile for me to get her to stop also. You do have interesting things to say, but people won't read all caps. Alas, you aren't my Mom or my responsibility so I'm gonna leave you alone now. Good day sir.
@oneferna THANKS, BUT NO I'M PROBABLY THE MOST SOPHISTICATED PERSON POSTING YOU'LL EVER RUN ACROSS, I'VE BEEN ON THE NET SINCE IT STARTED I EVEN KNEW SOME OF THE PIONEERS OF NETWORKING WAY BACK WHEN...I'VE RUN FORUMS ON SCIENTIFIC ISSUES SUCH AS PARTICLE PHYSICS AND I'M VERY MUCH CONCERNED ABOUT POLITICS. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT RON PAUL 2012 BECOMES A REALITY AND I'M INTO ALL KINDS OF GREEN ISSUES. HEATHER IS A SUPER STAR TO ME. SHE'S VERY INTELLIGENT ON TOP OF BEING SO BEAUTIFUL.
@whothehellgivesadamn Hay, me too, I've been following Ron Paul since about 2007. Cool! See you are interesting. I just wish you'd stop yelling at me, haha. Remember when we all used bulletin boards on the early Internet? Now I really don't believe nobody has pointed out the all caps thing back then. That's when it started. The good ole days. :)

Qinoa naturally comes with a bitter taste -to stop birds eating it. Rinsing it with cold water a few times before cooking removes the bitterness.

@healthyvegan sounds cool i didn't mean that as a pun at all it was just out of curiosity
TelepathicT 7 months ago
@TelepathicT no worries, I didn't take it as a negative :) feel free to try this recipe with rice or oats or any other grain too!
healthyvegan 7 months ago
should you get toasted carob powder or just regular?
thatkidevan 7 months ago
@thatkidevan either one will work - roasted is a bit smoother flavor, raw has a slight bitterness so you might need a bit more banana to offset
healthyvegan 7 months ago
looks really good but whats the things that look like little white worms on the side of the pot? is that what happens when u cook quinoa?
TelepathicT 7 months ago
@TelepathicT the quinoa has a tiny spiral that unravels when it cooks - I think it's beautiful :) might look better in person

Hey, I'm 5'1" also and yes, 120 is normal for our height. I weight 125 myself. 100-105 pounds are in the low range, but still healthy.
