  • can u please explain exactly how you changed the bridge? i have a les paul shaped Memphis guitar, i bought the bridge/tail set but the bushings dont fit the holes in the guitar :/ their to thin,i dont know where to go from here :/ please help?

  • thanks for the interest what I did was pulled the old anchors out and put in the new ones they where the same size just different thread maybe you could have the ones that where it the guitar tapped to the bridge so you can use it hope I helped

  • @fssales1 so i finally found some that fit my guitar at some local guitar shop, :)

  • you should buy a gibson, noob idiot

  • @megacharlie Some people buy the fake Gibsons as project guitars. After a few upgrades and a fret-dress & set-up, you can have a decent Gibson replica for a fraction of the bloated Gibson price. And some people use their fakes for gigging and save their expensive & delicate Gibson for the recording studio and photo shoots. I don't like gigging with my Gibson...I worry too much about it getting damaged or stolen.

  • I bought this as a project guitar to do just what I said in the video I do own a gibson les paul studio and the chines on play and sounds better then then real thing thanks for your comments and gibsons are over price

  • @fssales1 i doubt you have a very high attention for detail then because these fakes are all about aesthetics at not functionality or quality

  • @PilotDoofy My friend bought one of these fakes about 5 years ago. It was very well-made with solid hardwoods, good construction, and a gorgeous finish. It needed a few upgrades (pickups, pots, tuners, bridge, nut) and then a fret-dress & set-up. The result was so good he decided to buy another fake. With all the parts & labor they cost him about $650 each but they both feel/play/sound/look like they cost thousands.

  • I always say, if you are a cheapskate or you just haven't got the cash, don't try and MAKE a gibson BUY a gibson. Wait until you can afford one, it is VERY worth it. And there's no excuse if you're american, as they are cheap in the US.

  • @Nick80R Gibsons are NOT cheap in the US. They are nice guitars, but they're WAY overpriced. You're paying mostly for the name. Solid-body electric guitars are just hardwoods & simple electronics, it isn't rocket science. My Gibson LP is nice, but it doesn't blow me away as the pricetag suggests it should. I actually like my $600 Korean-made Dean Cadillac BETTER.

  • @OddTimeMan wow. I stand corrected :)

  • Basswood is what they make cheap Fenders out of. American Fender use tone woods.

  • @matrags Basswood is a good tonewood and it's used in many high-end guitars like Ibanez Jem (Steve Vai model), Ibanez JS (Joe Satriani model), EVH guitars (Eddie Van Halen), MusicMan, Suhr guitars...just to name a few. All of these guitars are pro-level and cost over $1,000.

  • The first 2 guitars I bought from Dave then he change is name to Daver but he uses more names Thats the guy who sells more. The first guitar was ok but not exactlly the one i order, the second one sucks.I changed seller to Hihaguitar the first guitar was Good(black beauty)the second one arrived with a broken neck.I am still waiting for the partial refun of $120 i paid $286 for the guitar.Buying from this guys is like playn Roulette.

  • Which seller did you buy from?

  • Warnig:Dont buy fro Hihamusic.

  • Great job on the guitar. Ive done a bunch of these over the last few months. Had a great time and learned a bunch. Last thing,,you cant sell these things even with notification that they are fakes from what Ive learned. Great Gifts and heck great to own. Id never sell mine since they replace my real ones in storage and who cares if they get broken get another and throw the same parts on it. What did you spend? And, how much did yours weigh? Im curious. Mine have real mahog except the necks.

  • You made this vid with windows live movie maker, don'tya?

  • also you can tell its a fake because of there isnt binding on the frets. Also the neck should be one piece with the headstock - i cant tell if this is the case. There might be paint covering. But yeah, its superb value.

  • Total price?

  • Lets end this pointless argument once and for all. Get a Tokai Love rock (made in Japan).

Do your research on the web and you will be wiser. You may even thank me for making you one of the chosen few. But then again you might keep your mouth shut if you have any sense.

  • "It's a Gibson now".

    No, it's not!

  • @ghosthead2008 Geeez! He just put quality pickups/parts into that plank!! Give the bloke some credit, willya??

  • i just went on the Gibson site,i was looking for a case for one of my Pauls and Gibson wants 255.00 USD for there "les paul case" are they serious??this is the kind of BS that just PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF,my personal opinion is that i would like too see Gibson DISAPPEAR like every other US company i have NO FUCKIN SHAME in this and i hope our boys in China CONTINUE TOO STICK IT IN THERE ASS,255.00 for a case you can pick up ANYWHERE for 125.00 is a FUCKIN INSUlLT

  • @TheXXXDB I hear ya. I bought a REALLY nice well-made plywood LP case from Musician's Friend a few years ago for only $55!

  • I got a Chinese LP Don Felder knock off its mahogany. And visually looks really nice hanging up there on the wall it looks like the real Mc Coy,that was after I striped it and basically replaced everything you can possibly think off . It cost me a small fortune all up it owes me about $650 the parts cost me more than the guitar I use it for gigs a lot and nobody can tell the difference they think it's a real Gibson LOL :) muahahaha!

  • why change it? seems pointless

  • LOL, keep convincing yourself it's a Gibson. You know it's not don't say it is.

  • @JmAA7192 Uh, I think he KNOWS it's not a Gibson. You're missing the point of his video. For a fraction of the price of a Gibson, you can make a decent replica. You can use it for gigging and not worry about damage or theft. And then you can use your expensive and delicate genuine Gibson for the recording studio and photo shoots.

  • @JBL8863 LOLOLOLOLOL oh your killing me....i love it.....

  • are you going to re-do the split diamond?

  • No I will not change it I know its smaller then the real thing but I was not trying to make it that big of a project thanks for you question see my other videos thanks again

  • @fssales1 At first I wasnt a fan of the guitar but like I said for a second. LOL Since you did all that work to it and you chenged the frets, I emailed my guitar guy to see if he can do that cause I have a bucnh of those fake gibson's and they have high action that I don't like.

  • @HiOctane62 How the hell is he going to do that? It's inlaid in there!!

  • @TheCatwoman61 well I am having mine done and it is not inlayed in there.

  • @HiOctane62 Oh they're not inlaid?? Printed perhaps?? Anyway, I don't no shit about the inlay work, I'm just a girl who rocks , I play the guitar...I don't know a humbucker from a humdinger, a stoptail from a trapeze bridge a single coil from a single celll, a fake Chibson from an overpriced real Gibson etc....all I know is that if it sounds good, I'm playin it....the inlay work is nice but it's not my main concern...so if you know all about that stuff, school me! I'm all ears, hon....

  • Where can i buy one?!

  • i decided to get me one, did it require a lot of fret working also how is the neck planning to get me one for my project

  • Most important questions: is it Bolt on? is it Plywood / pancaked?

  • no bolt on its one piece body

  • @fssales1 That's not a one piece body. It's a set-neck on a multi-piece body.

  • Fenders are generally made from alder or ash.

  • ive got one done the same thing and got rid of it the wood is soft as shit buy an agile 3100 dont need to do anything to them real maple cap and solid mahogany body and totally different finish

  • @dave261055 The woods definitely vary with these fakes. My friend has 2 of them and they're both made of maple (bodies & necks). But the fakes are hit & miss. You never know what you're going to get.

  • Сan prompt You excellent internet shop China guitars Gibson and other . to whom interesting, address. Pomogu to do You get prettier discount. The Warranty of the excellent remarks.

  • yur talking buzz.... did you radius the bridge saddles and the nut slots?

  • Hello fssales1, why is the split diamond inlay so big like a real one? Did you ordered it with a bigger one? Because pictures dave send me doesn't look like that, how can I tell him tha I want a bigger Split-diamond inlay?

  • @Macsk8ing It's hit and miss on the diamond inlay...I bought a Balck bauty and the diamond embelm is a little long looking, but passes ok....you never know what you're gonna get, but Dave is one of the better sellers on TradeTang....

  • What is your total investment now?

  • poor chinese.they know only copy and with bad quality.

  • If I buy a copy I buy a mahogany ...why buy basswood ? you may as well buy a different guitar

  • Huh. Interesting. I wonder how they could get a basswood body (along with all the other parts) to come out at 9.5 lbs? Basswood is light compared to mahogany, so I would think the guitar would come up a few lbs lighter if its basswood that was used. My Heritage H157 (American - Old Kalamazoo MI, Gibson factory) weighs in at 9 lbs. It's constructed exactly like a Gibson Les Paul (woods, ect).

    So, maybe that's not basswood?

  • @IPushHard You're absolutely right. I've seen many of these fakes and the woods vary. Some are Basswood, but some are Eastern Mahogany, and my friend has 2 that are Maple (bodies & necks)...they're a little over 10 lbs. each. I guess they just use whatever woods are available.

  • How do you find Dave's store on Tradetang? Great job with the rebuid too!

  • @JayDeeSG just search "les paul" and hell most likely come up on the first page

  • What are you talking about Hell

  • dude... if you can make it sound that good... maybe you should buy few of them, rebuild it to this caliber, then resell it... then buy another... rebuild, resell... lol...

  • @elmariachi109 Is isn't illegal to OWN counterfeit goods, but it's illegal to SELL counterfeit goods.

  • @OddTimeMan Just. Plain. Wrong.

  • @Partsocaster What is? The law?

  • @OddTimeMan No. Your interpretation of it. I own one too. But it IS illegal to own.

  • @Partsocaster The law protects unsuspecting consumers. If you bought a guitar (or anything else) thinking it was genuine, it's not your fault if you later find out it's fake. You will not be in trouble with the law for buying what you thought was a genuine guitar. But it's illegal if you try to sell it. The law protects innocent consumers from being scammed by dishonest sellers.

  • @Partsocaster No it is illegal TO SELL AS AN ORIGINAL! I own several, and as a female player, the LP copies are a bit lighter....The eal Gibson's are like heavy clubs...anyway, they are awesome project guitars, and this guy did to his guitar what everyone should do upon getting one. And after replacing the pickups, and parts, they are quite nice, tonally....

  • Did you get it shipped in a hardcase or was it fine coming in just the box?

  • okey, but you wasent afraid to get fooled?

would be a help if you would awnser :) tnx! on pre-hand!

  • if you use pay pal and dont get the item they pay you back other wise I would not do it

  • AHHHHH!!! okey, now i get it :) didnt actually really know what PayPal was >.> but now i know! :D

TNX! 1000 times over and again! :D

  • @fssales1 And how much did it cost replace all that

  • Great job!!! A couple things. Did you change the input plate? Also just another small detail; all Gibson Customs have black screws on the pickup rings on the outer 4 screws. I know you had mentioned you did not change the rings...

  • Great job!!! A couple things. Did you change the input plate? Also just another small detail; all Gibson Customs have black screws on the pickup rings on the outer 4 screws. I know you had mentioned you did not change the rings...

  • A lot of Ibanezes are made of basswood.

  • Cool video i like how the guitar looks! PS: fenders are made of Alder or Ash thought that you needed to know.

  • does this weigh like a gibson - or is it lighter?

  • it is 9.5 pounds

  • @MENSFORTHHILL99 A bit lighter, I recon...I own 3 LP customs, and trust me, after the makeover with the new parts/pickups, they are lighter than a rea one...

  • How do you order it: have you got the contact details please?

  • You could have saved a lot of money by installing quality aftermarket parts instead of genuine Gibson replacement parts which are made in Asia but cost a lot because they say "Gibson" on the packaging. There are lots of good parts out there that cost less...and are probably made in the same factories as the Gibson parts.

  • Yes I could have but I wanted to do it with Gibson parts I did get some of the items for less on eBay

    Thanks

  • @fssales1 My guitar parts I buy off of ebay

  • @OddTimeMan Where can you buy aftermarket parts?

  • @professorfoxtrot Pretty much EVERYWHERE. There are hundreds of websites (Stew Mac, GFS, AllParts, AMS, Musicians Friend, etc.) or any music store (Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc.). eBay has TONS of aftermarket guitar parts too.

  • @OddTimeMan Thanks man.

  • where did you order it? :) on a site caled

    dhgate.com ?

    pleas anwser !

  • No on tradetang com

  • @fssales1 thank you so mutch! :) but you didn't get fooled or hade to wait any longer or any thing like that?

by the way! you are a awsome player ! :D nice riffs you did !

  • @fssales1 was it the dave guy who you got it from??? he has lots of sellers and a 98% satisfactory rating, just wanted to know

  • The Headstock looks a little bit bigger than the original gibson custom

  • Man you put a lot of work into that thing

  • I sent away for, now being shipped, a chinese 12 string rickenbacker and a 1952 gold top les paul. I will let you know what I think of them when they arrive.

  • The way I see it. If the guitar is engineered to sound, such as intonation and built to size specs, the hardware up grades are worth it.

  • I will say this I have a real Gibson custom and my Chinese GIBSON plays better and sound better then the real one go figure

  • What kind of tree do U get basswood from?

  • hi my friend!! i'm planning to get me want one of these for a guitar project to change tuners pickups ecc, does it worth the money?

  • how many weeks did you wait for the guitar to arrive. did the seller gave you tracking number so u can track the guitar?

  • Hey boss, I picked up an alpine white LPC from dave and the split diamond was too small, as in epiphone small... I plan on replacing the whole faceplate but how is your headstock? Did it turn out alright or is it still too small, kinda hard to tell from the video,

  • did u get it from dave on trade tang?

  • If it looks like a Gibson, sounds like a Gibson...then fuck it, it's a Gibson. If these really aren't as good as "real" Gibsons then Gibson (USA, not their unofficial Chinese division) have got nothing to worry about.

  • For those, like me, who want the same guitar fssales1 is showing in this video, Dave (tradetang) sent me the link. I'll be ordering mine in the next few days. Email me at; moby4444@yahoo.com if you want it sent to you.

  • Brilliant!! However, how about a series of videos detailing all the work you did to the stock LP from China for all of us Do-it-your-selfer's that would like to achieve the same result. I can almost guarantee a ton of hits for such a series. At least the install and soldering of the electronics, the pickups and fretboard work.

  • besides dave, could you tell me more seller that we can trust or highly recomended seller in trade tang??? thank you

  • HAHAHAHA love the Detroit 0-16 shirt.. was that back in 2005?

  • @OutsideThe9ine lmao, that was the winless season.go lions

  • @aceman42 GO DANTE CULPEPPER!!!

  • Cool Custom! Do you think that you might be persuaded to list the upgrades with costs for each. I'm confident about performing these, with the possible exception of the fret change. I'd like to prioritize and perform the upgrades as my funds permit, so knowing what upgrades effect the most improvement would be helpful. And don't sweat the critics... they're just pissed that they paid the inflated prices for the real Gibby's. At the end of the day, all that matters is if you like it!

  • @moby4444 My friend has 2 of these and here's what we did: Replaced nuts , fret-dress (level/crown/polish), replace pickups, and set-ups. Those were a must. We also replaced the tuners, input jacks, & bridge on one guitar because it had buzzing saddles. Factory toggle switches, pots & caps and bridge on one were suprizingly good. We also made a few cosmetic changes (knobs, truss rod covers, stained fretboards, etc.). Now they feel/play/sound/look amazing. Total cost was about $650 each.

  • you could have just bought a gibson for all the money you spent.

  • It would have cost about $3000.00 or more for one like this

  • @fssales1 Hey, I bought a Chinese Gibson. The action feel a bit gritty espcially when I bend a note. Any recommendations on how to get rid of this?

  • @music8stuart A genuine Gibson Les Paul Custom is $3,900 and up.

  • Can you please tell me where to get the model that you have? Been wanting one of those for a long time.

  • Trade tang from seller Dave

  • Did all the Gibson hardware bolt right on, or did you have to do any drilling, modding?

  • Most of it just fit I had to work the bridge and tail stop the rest all fit

  • I love the work you did to it! It looks and sounds amazing! Is it possible for your to message me the site where you purchased it? Thank you very much! :)

  • I think they stopped making this one see Dave at trade tang

  • how much did you put into it all together?.

  • It cost 832.00 that was alot of work I did to it my 2nd one I have about 600.00 and it plays great

  • Hey can you please help me with the seller because i'm looking at a Page Burst #2 reissue. It looks like the real vintage road worn guitar on picture. But you know it could be the real picture from internet Gibson site, i would really love a 58 or 59 VOS reissue can you please help sir archiekurtis@gmail.com

  • if you would have spoken to the seller they would have put an ebony board. when you just purchase the guitar without talking to the seller they just send you whichever one they have infront of them.

  • Good job. Did the modern Groover tuners fit right into the head stock with out drilling holes? also what brand of stain did you use?

  • so how much in total was the guitar and all upgrades? was it worth the work? or should you just get a epiphone and a fender?

  • @CrazyAsianBand My friend has 2 of these and with all the parts & labor they came to around $650 each, but we did some of the work ourselves. They needed: Fret-dress (leveling), new string nuts, tuners, pickups (we used GFS), bridge (on one guitar), input jackplates with jacks, and set-ups. Suprizingly, the pots, 3-way switches, and bridge (on one) were all good. They sound, play & look great now. By the way, a real Gibson Les Paul Custom costs $3,900.

  • I just did my 2nd one it cost about the same but it plays and looks great and like you said this price or $3900.00 the newest one I bet you would think its real the only 2 things that would give it away is the truss rod and the weight of it I will be posting a video on it soon thanks for your interest
