I never really noticed until around episode 14, but Hikaru and Kaoru are actually 'drawn' differently in the anime (e.g. Hikaru seems to have slightly sharper eyes). In the manga it's basically impossible to tell the difference.

Actually it's very simple. See in the aime in the "Which One Is Hikuru Game" (which is in the episode The Twins Fight) Haruhi describes how Kaoru has a sweet personalitly than than his more mischevious brother. Which you can tell in their voices in the english cast. Kaoru's is much softer than his older brother's. But it's great that you can tell the difference by eye I can only do it by ear sometimes!

The Hatchiin Twins are so awesome! The Bad News is since they are identical i can never tell them apart, but that's a good thing! You can get a differant twin each time( when dating that is). Two mischevious twins, what a perfect match for me, now if only i could find twins like that.
