I don't think you have to worry about it being too hot because they live in Africa and are used to the heat. I don't know the temperature range though...

he's only seriously nipped me when my hands smell like his mealworms from fishing around in his mealworm container for one, otherwise he's very docile and I can feel his fangs while holding him and let others feel them as well just because they stick out and he never bites

he feels sort of like a boar bristle brush quills up, if you pet him with the grain quills down hes very smooth
