In the late 1980's I lived with my boyfriend who was a musician with a day job. Every morning before he left for work I secretly hummed the Donna Reed theme song to myself while he smilingly exiited the house for the day. That relationship ened horribly, but that Donna Stone, Margaret Anderson, Harriet Nelson stuff can happen and never leaves you as an ideal.
Oh my.....The Donna Reed Show was a staple in our house for years. The same for Bonanza, Father Knows Best and of course the Andy Griffith Show. I've spent WAY too much money buying DVDs of these series from my childhood, but I do enjoy watching them.
This is a clip from one of my favorite episdoes. There is a moment in this show where Donna, during her revolt against the kids, chases Mary up the stairs shouting "Don't count on a new sweater, new shoes, a new bag, or a new anything!" She marches down the stairs, fixes her dress, then starts shouting in the air in Jeff's general direction ready to attack him. My mother did that very same thing once a month for a good 10 years! It's much funnier to see (you'll have to buy the DVD!!!)
the first and second seasons wer emy favorites...Jeff was Bad and Mary was a snob at times but those earlier years were FUNNY. Remember the one about the horse statue?
Wow, everyone is so prim, proper, well poised, and classy.
