At any rate, I'll do whatever I need to do (I suppose), but I want to start with the upper GI. There's some other stuff going on that may be related, but to be perfectly honest, I don't want to post the details out here on the Internet. I guess there isn't a way to privately send you my email address, but you've been so kind. Thanks again.
Thanks so much gurglez. I hate to tell you, but I did cancel the test today ... didn't sleep a wink last night. I just know I can't take it (not right now). However, I am having a (repeat) upper GI on Tuesday, and the doctor changed my medication, which may help. Also, I'm not eating after dinner and all that good stuff that I never did before. Three years ago I had quite a bit of damage on the Upper GI, so I'll see how the repeat goes. Again, I thank you soooooo much.
I'm supposed to have this test in less than two weeks, but I'm really terrified (understatement). I may simply refuse. I'm up now in the middle of the night (have to work in the morning) because of my intense anxiety. I'm also having a 2nd upper GI. I'm afraid my doctor will be angry if I don't get this test, but I'm really, really distressed about the prospect of being 'tortured' this way. Welcome comments. Thanks.
@danajowho I got very anxious too thinking about what this test would be like, and that is why I made this video after the test. I made the video so people like you would be able to see it and feel a little more comfort in knowing what to expect. The test is no walk in the park, but there are worse things. It really isn't as bad as it sounds, and yeah you gag a lot especially if you're nervous so try to stay calm, but other than gagging it isn't so bad.
Getting the tube in wasn't even that bad, and once it's in just keep your head still and you won't gag so much. When they pull it out was uncomfortable, it makes you feel like you have to sneeze a lot after. Just use the tips in the video and you will be fine. If you don't have the test, and you have a medical problem that goes undiagnosed, there could be much more severe consequences by not having the test done.
@danajowho My life is so much easier after this test because now I know for sure what I have, and I've found my own ways to help my condition. Please, take the test, because gastrointestinal problems can get so bad when undiagnosed and not researched. If you want to talk, message me and I'll help you through it. The nerves and anxiety are a part of it, but you'll be happy when it's over. :)
I had this done 16days ago and my nose and throat have not felt the same since ..its a awful test I at least hope that my doc was able to get what ever info he needed from it because I hope to never have it done again ...
thanks for posting this :) I have to get an esophageal manometry this Tuesday for esophageal spasm, and I am a little scared. Just the idea of something being in the middle of my head is scary!
very interesting procedure you had! btw....you pronounce "esophageal" with g sound like it's the letter "J" and the "E" after the the g is pronounced. So pronounce it like this...."ee-sof-a-jeel"
wow, this is crazy, I have very very similar problems. I can't burp and never been able too. I really never had problems growing up but as i get older it gets worse. Now its to the point that every-time i eat i feel like i cant digest my food. I have been on several different meds (no help) I've changed my diet plenty of times but nothing. it's so bad.
Thank you so much for putting this on youtube, I am having an oesophageal manometry and ph study done (both at once) over 24hrs. I was scared about the procedure, but you have reassured me, not sure how it will be over 24hrs though. thanks again, great help
INteresting. Ive also experienced similar symptoms since I was young. While I am only now experiencing small breathing issues (slight to moderate heavy chest that comes and goes), Ive always had issues with burping, but was able to force the air out manually through throat muscle manipulations (i didnt have to shove my finger down my throat). Im wondering if youve found out more about what causes you to not exhale?
They tried it on me... wasnt having any of it.
