seems to me some programmers and i know some performance cams (in the event of this usually a p0300, random misfire) can set it. now if it was a chevy truck i'd say its 90% likely to be an evap code cause they all had problems with the vent solenoid (mine ate one and most everybody else i've known with one has too)
So where's the vtec huh? My 04 cavalier pulls just as hard. Face it vtec is just a special name for variable valve timing that 90% or vehicles have to date...
ha your 04 cavalier may pull as hard as a type s rsx if you had forced induction. i don't think this guy had the pedal to the floor, but even so i would like to see your cavalier do this
Hey whts up i plan on buying an acura rsx however noticed several things, such as no battery(which is nt a problem cuz i have another 1) and air intake. Besides the battery issue will the car be able to operate and drive with out the intake
Japan taxes auto makers based on engine displacement. If you wanna go fast, you either do forced induction, use an uncoventional engine like the rotary, or change cam timing. With the cam change you lose power, but gain the advantage with OVER 9000 rpms.
@stustockwell ah cool I didn't know that. I use to drive a 96 vw jetta with an audi 1.8T swap. It had a front mount intercooler, custom exhaust and headers, stage 1 chip. Even with the stock tune and turbo it was a torque monster. I jumped into the driver seat of my buddy's 2009 civic si expecting a car that was very quick. Instead I found it to be sluggish until it hit 6000 rpm. The lack of torque was just unbeleivable.
Honda really needs to go with forced induction for sport models
Anything non-turbo is going to seem sluggish? Lol. I bet if you stacked up your stock dub against the stock SI the SI would spank that shit. The key word is STOCK. The stock turbo VW's are actually pretty quick. But in my experience as well as my friends, VWs are the biggest pieces of shit ever made. They're like Jeeps. They don't last for shit. My ex got a brand new off-the-lot rabbit and we had to get it towed back to VW the next day because the ECU shat on a turtle
As for the F/I stock Hondas, thats not what they are known for. Honda = basically fucking bulletproof, affordable, simple and efficient. The potential to make it much more than that is more 'there' than with any other maker. However, when you add in F/I,it just complicates things, which seems a little counterproductive...no?
@stustockwell I'd sell both nuts for an NSX. When I was younger I thought to myself, someday I'll own that car. I'll just wait until the value drops so I can afford one. They fucking still hold their value!
That's what I like about honda, bulletproof engines. I hated my vw because I spent more time fixing it than driving it. Another buddy of mine ran his si to over 250'000 kms and it was still running strong.
The SI I have in my videos, I rebuilt the engine and I mean the thing wasnt even a baby, it was a goddamn fetus at 163,000 miles. Barely broken in. It ran better than my friend's NEW cars on a cold day (rare in Florida). After the rebuild I saw myself pulling on GT v6 crustangs which is impressive for a stock 1.6 single cam.
Dream cars? Lotus Elise in the brightest yellow imaginable, red NSX and a black on black spoon S2k. Mmmm. OH, and the Zonda F. -goes without saying...
from what I've experienced, atleast with my k20a3 (I know, shitty motor but it's turboed so back off) anything far from stock will throw a code. Come to find out I can't even have a wideband o2 for my a/f gauge because anything aftermarket wont comply!
i have a cel on my lude also, its from my vafc. In my car i take off 7.5amps fuse for clock radio, leave off for a min or two and put it back on, and its cleared. You and me would be a great race.
theres something about these new rsx's , 7th gen civics they throw alot of lights.. i have my srs light on ( bad srs module) i think, maint light and , occassionaly ill get the CEL cuz of exghaust leak but the manifold , it threw a bad pre cat 02 sensor code,, fuckin hondas
To fix the check engine light just disconnect your battery for about 10 min. I guess when you get on it all of a sudden there could be a misfire and the ecu stores it as a prob but its really not. I had a 04 ep3 and this worked for me, never had a problem again.
lol at all these people freaking out about the cel. check engine light is on because of the race header. there are ways around it but most people just don't bother.
HAHAHAHA! My check engine light is on too!! my car is in perfect condition apparently theres a bad sensor somewhere by the engine; thats a bitch to take out the srs is too.. im not too familiar with cars so i had ppl check it out n they all say the same shit.
Why is everyones check engine light on? And whether you love it or hate it you still watched it because you wanted to hear it too so shut up and watch another.
@jivvity I love it personally, and that stupid engine light? well for me it was the TPS sensor and the throttle body both needed replaced. Soon after replacing that it came back on, no big deal. Still ran good.
@jivvity if he is running a race header without a cat and has his secondary o2 disconnected or plugged directly into the header it'll throw the CEL...VTAK YO
I could tell you guys got beaten by HONDAS plenty of times or maybe you guys don't even have a ride. Their are plenty of HONDAS out their that don't need turbos an doing 11sec passes ALLMOTOR street car full interior. So check yourself before you reck yourself. Lol.
@r0llindubs yeah thats probably what it is,,,i had a similar issue with my gsr, the technician said i had to replace a bunch of sensors and they were just dusty, i cleaned them up and the check engine light got away.
for all the people who think this is slow...its not. its actually pretty decent for a 3RD gear pull. he started at 40mph in 3rd when he could have dont it in 40mph in 2ND and be right there were the vtec kicks in. i bet if he did a video from a 2nd gear pull you guys will think otherwise.
@brunswicbjj11290 I find that hard to believe when the RSX is faster than the mazda 3 stock for stock... the only thing the mazda 3 has low end torque which the rsx does not. isnt the masda a high 15@87mph or some shit like that? while RSX is a high 14@95mph? I really dont see that happening. RSX 3rd gear Vtech starts at 60mph... 4th starts at 80. No matter what you are always in the power band unless you raced from 40 in 3rd which is stupid.
@brunswicbjj11290 The only thing you're smoking is crack obviously, because you seem to think a mazda 3 is some kind of race car. You're dreaming. Just because you have a stick shift doesn't mean your car is fast.
@cito35th i know the difference i was saying in my origanal post its not a patch on JDM Type R. I was giving you specs so you would know the difference because ye yanks cant even get them over there. i dont work for AutoTrader. I work for a Honda dealership in Ireland.
I'd get your rsx checked out, It seems like third gear should top out faster once Vtec kicks in. And For the earlier comments on this video I-VTEC stands for Intelligent Variable Timing Electronic Control. Keep ur RSX running good;p
@noseguard53 LMAO. You didn't read a thing I wrote. All k series motors have I-vtec. The I stands for vtc. It's just different in the performance k's. You just proved you don't know Jack shit about the k series motors.
@bsivoljr, I own an 03 accord (k24a4). That motor is a great balance between economy and mild power. I have a head off of an 07 civic si (k20z3) sitting in my garage and I know the difference between the heads is like night and day. I wasn't raggin on the intake vtec motors. I was raggin on people bragging about the vtec kicking in on the cars with single lobe exhaust cams. They are not built for power.
To rsx714. The base RSX does not have "vtec" as most people know it. It only has vtec on the intake cam and it's only for fuel economy, not power. The type s has true vtec on both cams, hence the 40 hp difference. Just cause it says I-vtec on your intake manifold cover doesn't mean you have true vtec. Don't be a ricer and go around telling people about when your vtec kicks in on your non-vtec base RSX.
See what people don't understand is that this is the same Vtec on all the previous Honda motors. Intake Cam only for the Single Overheads...Only the DOHC Motors implemented Vtec on I/E but even then the cam profiles were not as engineered as the K motors. K is a beast. Gonna go work on mines now:)
Just because the 1st class K motors have 3lobe I/E iVtec doesn't mean you have to rag on the Intake VTEC motors. I mean do the math. All the motors that got us into it to begin with were really 'Economy Vtec'. You think the Bseries was iVtec? Or in other words intake and exhaust? Well besides the B16A JDM motor. All the old vtec motors were just intake. But look at the power you were able to pull from them? Besides With cam's the economy Motors make decent power. I only own iVtec, but just sayin
@bigmoeman786 the base rsx does have vtec your a fucking honda noob. the base honda rsx si and ep3 all have VTEC. now for type s's, si, and tsx have IVTEC. vtec and ivtec are different
good job on typing a whole paragraph on dumb shit. IVTEC means there is a intake cam vtec and theres the regular vtec
if you have ivtec and kpro in 5th/6th gear there are two vtecs, intake , then the motor dumps mad fuel into the system around 4,000rpm
@bigmoeman786 AMEN! lol base RSX does have vtec i guess you can say but as stated by bigboeman786 not no both cams hence thats why "vtec" kicks in at about 52k rpm i believe? making it economic on fuel as for my 02 type s it kicks in at 6k as in the video and wheni do drive at high rpms just to hear that true vtec crack it hurts my pocket for gas lol you can feel the difference as my friend has an 02 5 speed base compared to my 02 type s 6 speed, good pointing out on that bro (bigboeman786)
@bigmoeman786 IVE been trying to tell people that, thank you!!! My friend was acting like a ricer with his rsx and i told him the exact same thing. But you rashed at the end lol
Anybody think vash is cool? This is what he does. Talks shit to strangers cuz he thinks it makes him look cool. He gets a turbo installed on an otherwise stock 05 mustang and suddenly thinks he's the man. He's never run it at a track so he has no times but he continues to say it's an 11 sec car. He didn't install the turbo himself. And he's probably gonna say that I'm not allowed to make any of those claims just because I don't know his real name. That's because he has no better comeback.
I saw literally no difference in acceleration. VTEC powah?

Gonna go work on mines now:)
bsivoljr 2 years ago
The 40hp difference could also be attributed to the K20A2's high compression ratio.

soo true but its still nice , i have a premium and it still goes but its no type s or even a type r
rayjobob 2 years ago
@bigmoeman786
not true. rsx 'base' are 2 - 155hp and 160hp. 155 has economy vtec, but 160hp has normal running on in 5krpm. of course i-vtec.
R3SUM3 1 year ago
Just because the 1st class K motors have 3lobe I/E iVtec doesn't mean you have to rag on the Intake VTEC motors. I mean do the math. All the motors that got us into it to begin with were really 'Economy Vtec'. You think the Bseries was iVtec? Or in other words intake and exhaust? Well besides the B16A JDM motor. All the old vtec motors were just intake. But look at the power you were able to pull from them? Besides With cam's the economy Motors make decent power. I only own iVtec, but just sayin
bsivoljr 1 year ago
@bigmoeman786 the base rsx does have vtec your a fucking honda noob. the base honda rsx si and ep3 all have VTEC. now for type s's, si, and tsx have IVTEC. vtec and ivtec are different
good job on typing a whole paragraph on dumb shit. IVTEC means there is a intake cam vtec and theres the regular vtec
if you have ivtec and kpro in 5th/6th gear there are two vtecs, intake , then the motor dumps mad fuel into the system around 4,000rpm
noseguard53 1 year ago
@bigmoeman786 AMEN! lol base RSX does have vtec i guess you can say but as stated by bigboeman786 not no both cams hence thats why "vtec" kicks in at about 52k rpm i believe? making it economic on fuel as for my 02 type s it kicks in at 6k as in the video and wheni do drive at high rpms just to hear that true vtec crack it hurts my pocket for gas lol you can feel the difference as my friend has an 02 5 speed base compared to my 02 type s 6 speed, good pointing out on that bro (bigboeman786)

@bigmoeman786 doesnt the new k20 civic si's have i vtec only on the intake cam and make an additional 40-50hp?

@bigmoeman786
half of your comment is correct about the Economy -i-vtec Its still an i-vtec motor.
vtecs is vtec nothing so special about it. kudos to ur comment u know ur facts.

@bigmoeman786 Ive always wondered why the put the vtec badge on motors that dont have variable valves, is there a reason for that?

Anybody think vash is cool? This is what he does. Talks shit to strangers cuz he thinks it makes him look cool. He gets a turbo installed on an otherwise stock 05 mustang and suddenly thinks he's the man. He's never run it at a track so he has no times but he continues to say it's an 11 sec car. He didn't install the turbo himself. And he's probably gonna say that I'm not allowed to make any of those claims just because I don't know his real name. That's because he has no better comeback.
