@person5621 the only difference is I think in dag you can grapple and use siege weapons but in amptgard you can't (this is just a guess so I'm not 100% sure)

@person5621 The biggest difference i've noticed is the weapons themselves. Dag weapons have a minimum weight requirement, amt doesn't. Dag weapons tend to break amt weapons. Another difference is amtgarders take death on contact, in dag the shot has to land with significant force to count. There are no classes or magic in dag.

it depends, sometimes groups do have very restricted uniform standards such as the Knights Templar and the Romans(most allow a little slack in appearance). most of the time in order to live, you remember who your allies looks like, and what them enemies look like. either you do that, or you don't and die every minute (me during my first actual battle lol)

True but pads are bit different than costumes. I have no problem with Dagohir I have friends who play but you have to admit it reeks eerily of Role Playing. The differences are minimal that's all I'm saying.

Dag's whatever you want it to be. Some groups go more for the LARP aspects, while others go for the boffer combat. And, of course, there's a healthy mix of both. =P

this is an event in southern ohio every summer. you enter simply buy showing up, paying a fee, then hanging out till they fight. its a week long and many camp out the whole week.

No, if we wanted to be in the SCA we would be. In Dag you can do all kinds of stuff you can't do in SCA, like shield bash, tackle, hit from behind, jump over your opponents. Dagorhir is its own thing, bro.

I mean, there are a lot of new fighters out there, they don't know how to make the best equipment. But how cool can pretend fighting really look, anyway? In the SCA, people wear armor made from pickle barrels and carpets, for goodness' sake.

each to his own. It'd make more sense to respect each other as the sub-culture(s) we are instead of seeing who's tougher at swinging rattan sticks or fiberglass at each other. SCA is def cool with the heavy fighting and headshots, but Dag has definitely gots its own brand. Nothing like shield-edging/kicking/checking­/bashing or grappling in Dagorhir. I've also found that the more you fight, the less you have time to put negative comments for games you don't play. keep fighting everyone!
