Came across this via the MI6 forums. Absolutely love the pics of Timothy *sigh*. Just wish there were more pics to peruse. Love this version of the Romeo/Juliet theme song. Thanks so much for sharing :D

Interesting w/the Sean Bean Romeo - looks to be set in modern times.

Yes, the Sean Bean production looks interesting, but I must say I'm not a big fan of the modern theatre style. For my taste, it's too extreme sometimes and I just love period costumes!;)

I adore the pics of Timothy. He had so much charisma and presence,  even back that many years ago. The best part is, the man still has it....I love him.

I'm glad you're all enjoying the slideshow - obviously some parts of it more than the others...;) But,to be honest,it's the same with me!*g*

And it's not only my personal preference, but I just found loads of pictures from the Timothy production ;) and barely none of the Ian Holm or Sean Bean productions.

Timothy is sooo young and strikingly beautiful here...it must have been pure joy to watch him perform live. Seems like he would have totally dominated every scene he was in...I'm sure it was hard to take your eyes off him! I especially love the pictures at 1:50 & 2:47...his beauty and charisma are beyond compare. Oh Timothy...you have always been, and still are, such a darling! ; )

I actually put two songs together in my slideshow: Love Theme from Romeo&Juliet(1968)(performed by André Rieu) and Balcony Scene from Romeo&Juliet(1996).

And, yes, it must have been pure joy!:) I envy those who saw him back then! Judging from the pictures the whole cast must have given a great performance!

I also found it interesting how the costume design has changed over the years! From classical and elaborate to modern and plain.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who's enthusiastic about those pictures!You can imagine how I rejoiced when I discovered them!^^

And I absolutely share your wish! My hope is that recordings of these productions lie somewhere in the archive of the RSC waiting to be rediscovered - and digitally remastered, of course ;)
