I hesitated to click on the link as I dreaded seeing Robert Smith getting on in years. But I'm glad to see he's preserved his sweet innocent charm and disarming smile :-))
What a beautiful human being!! His music , his lyrics touch my heart every time. IHis voice moves me in special ways always. Long live Robert Smith and The Cure.
Thanks Robert, I was one of those that I used my hard earned money to buy your records and tours working part time and earning peanuts to go see you. Thank you for remembering us when you gig.
Sorry guys but whats a Big Gig????? I know I sound stupid but is it just a long gig or what????? When I was in Guides, last year (thats how young I am!!!!) we went to "The Big Gig" to celebrate 100 years of girl guides but the acts were all modern shit like JLS and The Saturdays!!!!! Oh I would have loved it if The Cure or Bowie or The Stones, or even Elton John had been there!!!!! Would have stopped my eardrums bleeding.
MossMaiden; I too love the Cure but I have seen one other band play for three hours. It was a completely different kind of music but it was Bruse Springsteen, he always puts on a long show.
@00MORDRED Very true. Robert's way of thinking on this is really refreshing to hear. Great to hear him say how he doesn't like to see fans short-changed by a short gig and parting with their money to save up for tickets. 1976 was a very special year indeed, as it saw the birth of one of the most, if not THE most important and influential bands in music history. Long live The Cure.
the Cure doesn't need to try to "be the best"...they already are! So many other bands are out there and people love them but their music really sucks
1992 The Cure performed for the first time in Orlando FL.I will never forget that show!! There was not just one encore but "three" I will never forget that concert!
I love this interview. This is perhaps one of the best interviews of Robert Smith, I have seen! I absolutely enjoyed it. I felt so happy with his remarks that I just clapped my hands. The best part is when he talks about David Bowie's gig and the Reading Festival in 1979.
yea right on about the work ethic! The Cure has to be the only band i've ever seen that plays 3 hours! Those tickets are so darn expensive too!! I'm so glad they are so down to earth.
this guy is soooo normal...
