Basically the question asked was, when practicing Guru Yoga and visualizing, he some time mixed Karmapa's figure with his Guru's figure. And he ask if this is approriate, if not, then what is.

Karmapa replied it is not the form which is most important, but to feel the essence of the teachings and Kung Te (empowerment?) which is most important. Something like this :P Somebody please translate!

What Karmapa said was that the most important thing in practicing Guru Yoga is not just to focus on the appearance of the Guru but to yoga (union) with the meritorious heart of the Guru. So to speak, we have to first understand what a Guru's meritorious heart is - it is his ability to subdue obstacles arising from the our distresses and self-grasping, and, to benefit others unconditionally.
