Aside from that, Valve disagrees with you, Gabe Newell disagrees with you, and pretty much everyone with actual experience with apple computers (unlike you) disagrees with you. When I played L4D2 competitively I used my iMac over my gaming rig for stability. Try something before you constantly bash on it.

Also, Valve games can be run on incredibly old computers because the source engine is really outdated. It's not like you need a really up to date computer to run it. They reuse the same textures from half life 2

Both the iMac and MacBook Pro were bought 2 or so years ago, so I don't see the point in comparing specs. But the fact that my iMac in some ways out performs my gaming tower which has 2 more cores, a 1GHZ faster processor, and an extra 1gb of GDDR5 is ridiculous.
