@krnboy1009 yes the surfliners do add superliners on some of their consists due to a shortage of normal surfliner cars. A few years ago (the surfliner still has them) some blue superliner cars were sent down from up north to match the surfliner car colors. But on the outside, they still look like normal superliner coaches. Back when i was the 3rd grade, the regular superliners were known as "the sliver cars" from me and my friends.

yea, they don't have enough train sets to run every Surflienr so, they use older train set for 799/798.

Brain, you mean, they replaced to a new surfliner set? I was on 799 on July 28 and it was cabbage...

hey pal, it is a surfliner train, they dont have the proper amount of sets to have another "full" surfliner trainset. especially rare bacause the

normal set that looks like this broke down a ways away

and they used these two P-32 units) to replace the original replacement eqquipment. . My friend told me the newly purchased "9th surfliner set" went into service last

week! so this is in the history books!

Although I think you know this after two months (LOL) You're friend was wrong, still at 8 sets and it's not likely to change until after 2010... New order in development now, funding still being worked out. Ignore any further rumors of a new Surfliner set, at least for a few years.

train (service wise) and before 2006 trains

799 & 798 didnt exist. Now they have the proper eqquipment.

Yup, it's a Surfliner. Trains 798 and 799 run with Amfleet and Horizon cars due to low demand and not enough equipment. Plan is when UP allows them to Amtrak will run a train through to San Francisco called the Coast Daylight, which will be a Superliner train running on 798/799 numbers and schedule.

I don't think the Coast Daylight work out. we want over night train from L.A to SF just like what Mega Bus does. No one wants to stay on the train in day time unless high speed train. In day time, it's so many things to do in SF.

I picked up a fall winter timetable today and sorry to say there's no Coast daylight run anytime soon but there's some new services on Coast Starlight next spring of 2008.
