Rick Ankiel just hit the biggest home run of his life Into McCovey Cove to help the Atlanta Braves beat the San Francisco Giants In the 2nd game of the Division playoffs...OMG, what a blast It was!
@JudgeSteelflax: He's a Royal now, which is gonna suck for him because he's not used to playing in a 3/4 empty stadium, but you're right about his 09 year. It seemed he was never the same after that wicked collision with the wall he had.
@jcdixon97 I'm glad he went to KC. That will be good for him. He'll play everyday and not as much pressure. He has to be healthy and play everyday to succeed.
I'm always a fan of him though.
Check out my video of him (pivot stickfigure video).
I agree with everything you said. He should definately start for the Royals, I liked him too. After St Louis signed Holliday, the outfield there is just too solid for him to get much pt. He's too good and plays too hard to be a reserve.
It wasn't steroids. He was prescribed a hormone following Tommy John surgery in 2003 during rehab, and a legal hormone at that. MLB itself declared no wrongdoing by either Ankiel or the medical staff who prescribed it at the time. The big fuss was the hormone he was prescribed was added to the list of illegal substances in 2005 I believe.
Yeah, that ballpark in Houston is a joke. What is it 202 feet down the left field line? Rick the Stick aka "The Natural "comes off the disabled later this week........
I wish I could see this better. I was there. I was so close to where it landed. This was also the game where Juan Encarnacion got hit in the face with the ball. It was so loud I bet you could hear it from these seats.
I was there!!! I remember that
