The dogs in the video are a long way from the Dachshund that is used for hunting. Their backs are too long and muzzles too short/thin to work effectively underground.
These are the Kennel clubs idea of form over function.

As has been said though they are a bit on the large side. It might be worth either increasing the exercise they get or getting a lower protien food for them.
The standard size Daschund was bred to go after badgers, the mini Daschund was bred more for chasing rabbits. Both size dogs are couragious and won't step back when confronted by an animal bigger then themselves. My mini wants to go after horses and deer.

The one on the video are miniature Daschunds which were more bred to chase small animals like rabbits. You are right about these dogs. Because of their size would not have a change
