God Bless America. May he forgive us our foolishness of letting this Pledge fall to the way side, to become an obscure taboo that is hardly ever spoken any longer
This was very beautiful and touching. I loved watching Red when I was growing up. My question is this: If it wasnt necessary for our forefathers to have faith and honor and loyalty to our country without having to pledge allegiance to one god, why would someone add under God to the pledge in the 1950s? People seem to forget that this great country was NOT created on Christian values, rather it was founded to escape religious persecution.
The first European settlers were Christians fleeing religious persecution. The pledge does not establish Christianity as the official religion of the United State or any other religion. God could be any god. The founding fathers were not Christian but they did believe that the universe had a creator.
they did mention god in several things, but they didn't say you had to. this country was founded on the principles of christianity and don't you forget it!
Red Skelton was a National Treasure! IF you are too young to know who he was, look him up. He was HILARIOUS (without being vulgar or scurrilous). You will enjoy every facial expression, every twitter (no not that kind) and every word this man turned into side-splitting entertainment! Enjoy!!!
I remember seeing this in original form as a kid. Today, as much as then, it causes me to feel a swelling of pride. Red Skelton will always bring a tear when I hear him do this story. May god bless as he use to say. It makes me very proud to be an american!
Those were the good old days. I do my best to keep his memory alive by performing 4 nights a week 9pm at the Royal Resort Hotel 99 Convention Center Drive in Las Vegas.
I would like to invite everyone to check out the ONLY show in Las Vegas with a Red Skelton impersonator.
The background music for this was taken from a march Red wrote, called "Red's White and Blue"
