But then he didn't sleep with her because he knows he wants the original, not a cheap copy! And i'm sorry for kate cuz she clearly looked hurt, but i'm glad she saw the kiss because she assumed he would sleep with her and then she found out he didn't!!!

So when they wrote and filmed it, no, he wasn't supposed to be with Gina, and that's why Beckett was shocked when she found out that he didn't sleep with Natalie. He was supposed to be single at the time. But since they ended up swapping the order of the two episodes, there's really no set answer.
I love that Natalie kissed Castle. I loved that they even brought Natalie in because she definitely opened up how Castle and Beckett feel about each other. Like when she was talking to Beckett about how Castle's book is a way of him doing what he really wants to Kate with out actually doing it in real life....Hope that's not confusing or anything=P
I like how this scene plays well into the next scene, where Natalie asks Beckett if Castle is gay because he refused her advances. I especially like the end of this scene, where Castle starts to refuse Natalie (because he wants the real thing?) and the look on Beckett's face.

Anyway, I feel sorry for Kate when she looked at Castle and Natalie in the elevator.

It is kinda creepy how much Natalie looks like Beckett when we see them walking toward the elevator (and in the rest of the episode). This scene actually reminds me of the end of "Anatomy of a Murder" when Castle and Beckett leave the precinct together. And Beckett's expression as she witnesses the kiss parallels quite nicely Castle's face at the end of "Overkill".
@ccollici I see the overkill comparision, but the difference is Schlemming was there for longer and it was much more dramatic. This scene is more funny and not as disheartening since we know it's not mutual and she's not around. Plus, Natalie totally cued in on what was going unlike Schlemming who was a total douche lord.
@ccollici I'm glad the kiss was talked about... unlike Beckett's mystery boyfriend. Can we just get rid of him already? Gina is out the door so there's little reason to keep Josh. And honestly they don't need SOs to make the road to a relationship slow. They have other things they need to deal with.
