  • I just bought some adorable cropped pants...and then the temp fell again! :( I have been racking my brain about jeans-flats-boatneck sweaters. Sort of Audrey-esque, more 60's than anything. The cut of the jeans is actually the biggest obstacle for me...Any thoughts or added ideas?

  • @tkmaz Get some cut high or at the waist in a 'cigarette' style. :)

  • woah! never heard of socktheory before! I love stockings!

  • I am a proud owner of a pair of miss L fire shoes. (:

  • lovely video! thanks for all the new blogs :)

  • Great tips thanx!

  • Want. That. Hat.

Love the video and you look fabulous xxx

  • i loved this video because i have problems transitioning thank you soo much

  • Lisa I love layering, thank you for bringing it up i don't feel like a outcast now hahahaha.

  • *sigh of longing* vivien of holloway. have decided to splash out and purchase my christmas party frocks from there. wore a swing skirt paired with a sweetheart halter top on a night out recently and some had the neck to ask was i dressed up as an eighties chick..... i didn't know what to say!

  • I usually do not care for pants at all no matter the weather but, I am really falling in love with the vintage inspired lounge wear! Wonderful!

  • What is the song at the ending?

  • You know, something that might be helpful to some is some sort of advice on how to combine "vintage" (haha.) with modern clothing. I LOVE the old silhouette, 50's dresses, pumps & fitted coats. But I ALSO love modern looks of today. The Loft is my favorite place in the mall. So how to mix? A bottom with a top? LeBomb often pairs a retro dress with modern heels. I'm a mom - I wear FLATS. Sorry so long - I'm a long winded gal!

  • @tkmaz Good idea! My taste is obviously not the same as everyone else's but I'll be happy to try. :)

  • Hi doll. I'm Miss Honey Bare, I did the hair and make-up for the BBL photoshoot you featured our lovely Fluer modelling! :)

  • @lilpinkbear Wonderful! Thanks so much for introducing yourself!

  • Great vid

  • Great vid as usual, Ashley :)

Wow, lilcherrybomb86 your amount of self importance is staggering!

"I think f you want 2 look good you'll take the advise" - We don't all need your input to get ourselves ready in the morning, thanks love.

    xx

  • @ZorchKitten I think she marked your comment as spam. LOL I fixed it. ;-)

  • @LisaFreemontStreet

Clearly she's the one who can't "take it".

I think you look lovely btw :) x

  • Im always confused about vintage in winter, i stick to trench coats, gloves, scarfs & high heeled boots similar to an Oxford boot. && I do the shirt under dress style! I usually go for a turtle neck & the dress gives it an effect of a vest too. Really helpful video, I'll have to check out some of these websites ! xo

  • Wow... So much negativity on this video... and apparently is neither effective or accepted. But anyway, I love these videos regardless of what 'era' or 'vintage collection' you're working with. The advice and the information you give can really help those of us who may not know otherwise. Thanks for the help. :)

  • @lilcherrybomb86 Sweetie, if I wasnt 'taking it', I'd have deleted it. Taking it does not mean agreeing there's a problem. ;-)

  • Dude, you're video is so gud. Their is an element ov vintage greatness 2 it. LOL!

  • @amyjeannemac LOL!!

  • @lilcherrybomb86 *sigh* I will bypass the negativity towards my mom which was entirely uncalled for since any of us who dress in a style from the 1940's and 1950's are actually dressing like our GRANDMOTHERS . But I will have to mention, for the benefit of others who are reading this comment, that vintage clothing is actually classified as clothing from the previous era. Therefore, clothing items through the 1980's are technically 'vintage'. Thanks again, dear.

  • @LisaFreemontStreet Too right! If you go to vintage shops in London, they will have dresses from the 80's as well.

  • @LisaFreemontStreet forget lilcherrybomb86 you look great as always, i love the 70's by the way ! haha, I always look at pictures of my grandmother from that time and think how amazing she looked.

  • @lilcherrybomb86 You confuse your own opinion with the one and only truth.

  • Oh, my military friend has a great tip. Always keep your torso warm, everything else just kinda works out better. I love wearing dress shields, it protects my clothes from sweat stains (in case I get hot) and adds to the layers of warmth. Kleinerts has some great ones in their site.

  • Great, great, great video as usual! Thanks ;)

I personally don't like to wear tights, the nylon material makes me very uncomfortable, so I prefer knee-highs or over the knee socks with the adorable sock garter I find at sockdreams online store. I highly recommend that store.

And like you said: Layers, layers and layers! I much prefer layers over thick and heavy material, but then I'm in Texas where the Winters are not as cold as up North :)

  • @Lisafreemontstreet. I never said you were all vintage but Your advertising vintage though! You can obviously wear whatever you want I'm just saying it looks tacky,it only looks nice if your wearing a high neckline or overall type dress, other wise that just looks like something my mother would do! just learn 2 take some criticism! Cuz i love all your vid, I'm not hatting just advising ;)

  • @lilcherrybomb86 I find it interesting that if I respond in any way other than 'thanks for your advice', I am somehow accused of not taking criticism. haha. It's funny you mention this is something your 'mother would do' because my mom did do this in the 1970's. Knit tops beneath dresses were common back then. Not my favorite era but hey, I guess it's vintage. I completely embrace constructive criticism but 'that's tacky' is not really constructive now, is it? xxoo

  • @LisaFreemontStreet

I absolutely love following you and the advise you give is great, which im sure most of us agree!Keep it coming!!!

  • I think the hat is the 90s take on the 70s on the 30s...I remember those hats from the 90s.

  • @renaissancegirl87 This one is from the early 70's. I wore it in the 90's...maybe you saw me. :) Just kidding...none of my friends had one like it. I think they were embarassed by it, honestly. haha

  • @Lisafreemontstreet it changes the dress alright n the whole style of vintage! Like I said it only looks ok if it's an overall type dress f not it looks bad, not classy at all!

  • @lilcherrybomb86 But this is your opinion, right? I am not one to care whether I am over-all vintage and am just as likely to wear a punk tee shirt beneath this dress- which is why I always try to give several options to my viewers. So if I like it and if I don't care if you think I am classy-can I still wear it? ;-)

  • This video makes me like winter a little more :) I love vintage winter fashion! Thanks for uploading.

  • This is exactly what I've been needing. Originally from New Mexio I now live in Germany and freeze every year. Freddies of Pinewood jeans (and tops) are super and I love how they add an extra layer over the kidneys when it's really cold. As usual a great video. Thanks

  • I nearly spat out my tea when you said "a lot of you don't think I wear pants" !!! then I remembered that's what you call trousers over there. I couldn't stop giggling LOL!! We also call our underwear 'knickers' as well as pants over here in the UK. In the old days they used to be called your 'bloomers' or 'draws'. Hence the old joke " winter draws on!" (real meaning winter's coming)

Thanks for the smile this morning AS WELL AS the great advice and tips. Keep wearing those pants now!!! xx

  • @Allthingsfluffy lol! that's great. :)

  • I love all your ideas for winter except the long sleeve shirt under a dress, I think that is so tacky, the shirt takes away from the beautiful dress! Just wear a nice sweater like the one in the pic. I mean their not expensive. I love your wish list thought, one thing, my husband has the jacket 4rm your first pic, he also got a daddy-os & let me tell you it's not for winter, it's very thin, just like a regular shirt!

  • @lilcherrybomb86 I like the way it looks... I think it is like having an entirely different dress since the undershirt changes the neckline and makes the dress look almost like a vest. I have sweaters and could certainly wear them instead if I so choose. Sometimes I do. It's not an issue of not having a sweater so resorting to a top...I actually do like the top. ;-) The Daddy-Os jacket is great for layering. My husband has a bunch like that.

  • I actually think its easier to dress vintage in the winter... haha

  • I've been waiting for this awhile now! Thank you:)

  • do you think you could make a video showing some fall/winter styled outfits in the near future? I'd love to see one of those, maybe towards winter time? please!

  • Hey, I remember you telling me you live in Lebanon...are.you going to Halloween on the Square Monday night? I'll be there. Would love to meet you!

  • I audibly gasped at those Miss L Fire boots. I also loooooove tights, I wear hosiery all year round. Thanks for pointing out the specific post from Freelancer's – as a Canadian gal I'm used to freezing Winters so I'll have to see what she recommends. Another stellar video, thank you!

  • I have some awesome wool plaid pencil skirts from the 1950s-1960s that I got for free at a church swap! It was the best vintage find I've ever had.

  • It WAS helpful!!! Speaking of coats that "cinch in the waist", I've been hunting for a robe like that (Betty Draper has one). If anyone sees one..... ;o)

  • Whenever I think of tights and hoes and stockings, I think of fran drescher on the nanny and how she wore tights with EVERYTHING she wore, and she had some crazy multicolored outfits and would pick out one color to match the tights and a color to match the shoes. You almost never went without them all the way up to the 90s... Only recently has it become acceptable to not wear them, if not even a faux pas. I think they're so feminine. I'd love a pair with seams up the back! And I use them to tra

  • @OldHollywoodJunkie7 I like opaque stockings w/ a garter belt, mysel. :)

  • Ok. So this video is tempting me even more to buy the elbow length leather opera gloves and AWESOME trapeze cape (both vintage) on my winter wish list ;)

  • I live in Michigan and winter is not fun, we already have the heat on because it has been so cold. i love this video because I have a really hard time figuring out if clothing has a vintage look to it and I don't own hardly any vintage clothes for that reason:(

  • THANK YOU! I live in Northern Ontario and have recently been dressing more vintage. I find it easy to dress in the Summer but we have 6 months of Winter here so... yeah. This was super helpful!

  • Love this video! Super cute! " Now I gotta rob a bank!" Love it !! & Just how I feel!! I want it all! :)

  • I absolutely adore the "Le Bomb Shop" outfit you picked out for your wishlist! <3

  • You look adorable in that hat,,absolutely love it!!! I love Aya's style she looks awesome wearing the vintage wear,, love her. The retro styled jeans are so fun..:-) OMG I love the striped top and skirt and her hat is adorable too. Great suggestions..:-) Loveeeeee the lounge suit too well I loved everything you showed us....So long dearie

  • great ideas! love the pics i've done a similar video, so it thought id show it too :)

  • Thank you so much for this video! I've never had to deal with the freezing East Coast weather until now and my wardrobe is NOT ready ha ha
