I'm going to spend more time on it though cause the quality sucks. I'm getting a real condenser mic and setting up a home studio with money I've worked up during the past monthes.

Over the past years I already got some releases in the clubs and the radio. I had the struggle with major labels, and I saw the business change. This lady said it all... music is never first, but in the best case it's second ...

These days there aren't a lot of business people who are good musicians and the other way around ... Everyone can make some "noise" with their music setup, but real musicians are the real thing. If you are one it's something you are born with, it's called : talent.

Good advice for novices. The record industry will be around as long as people like music, plain and simple. Indie artists will almost never be able to match the exposure level that a major can give you. If an artist/band builds their own dedicated and loyal fanbase and can make enough money to make a living on a small scale, then they will have more power when negotiating with a major and won't get as screwed in the end.

major labels companys are suffering now because the independent artists are making more money than the average major label artist. they fall into their own shit hole now. there is a digital hole in the game and its only beneficial to the independent artist.ita a good thing because now artist can put out the type of record they want to put out without the middle man flaging it!

It's probably true that a successful indie artists makes more than the average major artist but, the average artist will get much more exposure than the indie.

Although the actual money in your pocket is will be higher as an indie artist, as indie labels are popping up all over, getting noticed gets harder again.
