If change can occur within the species why can't change occur to change into another species? Aren't both examples evolution?... the process by which different kinds of living organisms have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth?

And flightless cormorants found on the Galagos would not survive here where there are many mammal predators...but do there because few mammals made it across the 500 miles
