One thing I don't get is how changing gears with your feet work, so lowest is first, then one click up is neutral then another is second? That sounds like changing from 1st to 2nd to be quite a challenge as you might end up in neutral? Or does each click kind of like slide into place and it's easy to tell?
@AleksandrsLV I know it may seem confusing but once you get on a bike & go through the training course it's NOT as difficult as you think.
1st gear is pushed all the way down like a 45 degree angle downwards.
Neutral (like he said) is like a HALF of a click upwards. It's hard to explain but, yes, you will definitely feel it in your feet when you go from 1st to 2nd bc it LOCKS into place when you hit 2nd. You can feel it "glide" past Neutral bc that gear feels like there is nothing there.
@AleksandrsLV Another way to put it.... When in neutral, you will know not to leave it there bc it feels like the pedal is "dangling"... if that makes any sense? Hope it helps!
@AleksandrsLV Basically, if you want to go to 2nd from 1st, you shift up like you mean it. The gearbox won't mind if you shift hard with your foot if you clutch in. If you half ass the shift, you might end up in Neutral. Hope that helps. :)
Wow, before hitting play, I'm here thinking, God, I'll never get this, but it seems fairly practical and I can't wait to slowly and safely learn my new bike :P
i have a 250 two stroke, i have to rev to 6K RPM to drive off lol, but really nice video, im gonna get my gf a bike and explain her things the way you did ^^
Make sure to tuck your pants in your socks etc if you have wide pants as well. It REALLY sucks to get your leg stuck when you stop, the feeling you get when you are starting to tip sideways and your leg is stuck so you can't do anything, SUCKS. This almost happened to me, I got my leg free just in time to save it, after that I started tucking my pants in my socks.
That's uncanny... I came across a bike just the other day I wanted to steal... wish I'd seen this video first :D (j/k, but jokes aside, love the videos man... getting my bike in a couple weeks, weather's warming up shortly after... can't wait.)
@axxo798 no man, it doesn't work like that, you just click all the way up from first and you get to second, then all the way up again and you go to third, the only way to get from 1st to 3rd is if you click two times, hope it helped
@jasonsand so you dont have to click it to the position for the 3th gear you just click up and down and it wil go to the right gear, kinda like those racing gears where they just push one up or down on cars
hey men a question i have already rode a fz125cc whats ur opinion, i could jump and ride a cbr 600cc or test drive for a while other bikes is easier to learn in a 600cc o better to test drive other bikes ??? cause i dont want to buy new bikes everytime and i was thinkins to buy a 600cc and start driving it until i get full control of it whats ur opinion
If you want to learn to RIDE a bike properly, start slow (ie. something BELOW a 600), but if you want to pose (nothing wrong w/ that though) then you can even buy a 1000 if u want.
Oh and if u want a 600, buy something like a 600 Hornet, or a XJ6 or something
TNX a lot, i learned to drive Motorcycle because i watched this video.....BTW i didn't have licence because i don't have 16, i will in 3 months, guys wish me luck :D
I'm about to turn 15 in like a month so my mom is going to take me to learn classes but when I asked for a motorcycle instead of a car she keeps saying no and starts rambling on about "oh I heard another person died in a motorcycle accadent today" blah blah blah! I want one so bad! Grrr she let's me ride quads but not these... Sheesh :p
@magenABC Mom's are the same. My mom was the same. She loosened up after a few weeks and hasnt bothered me about it in years. But quads are a lot safer than bikes bro...
man i knw all this stuff but when it come on turns (u turn) i cant control it smoothly ..and i cant understand which gear i have to roll in...2nd or 1st..help plz
@SuperDesi123456 The easiest way I learned to take U-turns when I was newer to riding was to accelerate a little forward then start going through the turn in first.
??? when i hold in the clutch and put the bike into first gear it jumps forward, also the bike keeps building up revs, accelerating and braking when i hold the bike at any speed in 1st gear, it feels like it is trying to throw me off. P.S. i am not holding the clutch as i was going 10mph then i went to accelerate and the bike built up revs and jumped forwards. Please help.
Thanks for helping me learn, i have a honda cbf 125 now and because of you i pulled my first wheelie accidently when racing a car off the lights :D thanks for all the help :)
I remember about 3 years ago when I started watching your vids, i couldent get enough of them. Sur enough, a year and a half later, i get my first 2010 blue ninja 250 r. Just think, it was all because of you. You're my idol.
is it ecsactly like a car that you could burn the clutch for using it to much :P sorry if i sound dumb im saving up to buy my first bike and im excited
ok, a little of topic. but should i get a cbr250r with or without ABS? im new and want to know before i buy. ive read a few fourms but there is no definate answer.
@ksherman51 what you would do, is pull in the clutch, and lift up. The gears go from bottom to top. 1,N,2345.... Lol so if you're in first, then pull up with your foot, two clickS. But I know where my gears are on mine, so I really don't feel for the clicks lol
@ksherman51 you do a big click up as opposed to a very small half click. It's nearly impossible to accidentally put it in neutral, well not impossible, but certainly difficult.
It's funny how even after hearing about all the stories of people coming off and dissipitating after hitting a truck, breaking all the major bones, bing paralysed for life, it still looks fun to do.
m13 can you post a cideo for me about how you make these videos if you already have just point me in the right directions i love your videos they have inspired me to get a bike thanks for all your videos your subcriber aaron
thanks for this video i just bought a zx9 off my friend...this will b my first bike..i do have a question thou...when u come to a complete stop do u hold the clutch in as if u were in a car to prevent stalling ? u may have covered that i have to watch this video again but anyways thanks!
i know how to ride a motocross bike, a trial bike, (even though the pretty much the same except for aggression) and a speedway bike, i know how to ride lots of bikes except for a road bike and im just checking it out just to make sure. im saving up for a road bike right now cuz all i need to do is get to my job fast not really carrying everything except for a light bag. thanks man.
The only sad part is you have to have a car license first, when driving them is different even if the same road rules apply. Hopefully I can get my license soon so I can start on my bike permit. I have a 1998 Kawasaki Ninja 600r as my starter bike, can't wait to get going.
Thank you for this awesome video. I have watched this and went to KTM store to test DUke 125 they asked me if i knew how to ride i said yes. It wasn't a lie but i have never rode a motorbike before. It went perfect shifting gears , counter steering and everything on the FIRST TIME!
I'm 6'3 210lb. I want the honda cbr600rr. But my pops recommends a 250. I personally think it will be to small and uncomfortable. And power to weight. I'll weigh the bike down. What do you think? Can anyone help me out a little, I would really appreciate it.
i'm doing car lessons at the moment, but i want to get a bike, and i thought adjusting would be really hard. but this was insanely helpful in showing me otherwise
Is normal to stall your bike often especially at stops and lights? Today was my 3 day riding and I'm getting better but I stalling like at every 5 stops and its frustrating. Does every beginner have this problem, Or am i just bad?
Hi, Should I use the rear break? My instructor tells me NOT to use it at low speed, except when starting uphill from a red light or so. But this is in conflict with what I hear from you and almost every other experienced biker... I don't want to confront my instructor on this coz I'm the inexperienced one, but I'm very confused!.. Help!
@Amplifier800 Well the 2006 has a silver belly while the 2008 is all black like the one in the video....That's really the only major difference I would say (the cosmetics). Soooo it's probably a special 2006 because once I googled 2006 ninja 650r to double check it does have some like the one in the video AND like the stock one I am talking about with the large silver on the belly as well....So now I am thinking it's a 2006 since once I watched the video again I noticed several silver parts...
@Amplifier800 ...which aren't on the 2008 and especially since your comment is right...the video was made in 2007 EARLY so I must admit that I just saw a black ninja 650R and got ahead of myself...But the lacking of the silver belly completely through me off too since I didn't know 2006 offered one like in the video without it...XD *sighs* well you learn something new everyday! :3
@evilazneddy Damn now that I look closer I do believe it is a special 2006 without the silver belly :/ My bad these bikes just do things to my mind and I can't think straight XD
Ps hayabusa is like a ferrari...they're meant to hit 5th and 6th gears they're simply made for speed not a grandmas car. No one likes posers please don't be one .-.
@Da504Assassin well first a hayabusa is not cheap. Second the power will overwhelm a lot of inexperienced riders. Third if you fuck up going 70mph leads to spine fractures, broken necks,etc...pffft going 200mph+... Simply put....your a dead man and that's common sense. Don't get a bike just for looks and to feel like a badass. You want a beast bike you better be a beast mother to handle that shit otherwise...your just another poser
additional info... i have a car and this bike will probably never reach 5th 6th gear, and will never in hell go on a interstate in houston tx on a bike, im a very smart dude and i know for fact that inexperienced bikers dont hurt them selves or kill themselves doing what you cant will...
i need honest help, ive never rode a sport bike in life, of course my first bike of choice is a bussa, why? they look awesome... every thread online bikers are like not a good idea,hell no!, and other jk's... every guy i see on youtube with a bussa are fucking going 5th 6th gear! im no expert but if your doing 150 on a 600cc bike you will do just as much damage as going 200 on bussa... so wats the difference?
you know i ride clutch on quads all the time and everyone of these videos thats supposed to be teaching u how to ride clutch but they never tell u to hit the clutch while braking so now im unsure whether u have to to avoid stalling or not so can someone answer this please. "Do you need to hit the clutch while braking on a motorcycle like ths one?" cause now i have no idea whether ive been doing it right or wrong
wow good stuff i can rid now thanks bro

So when you're finding neutral BEFORE starting the bike, you hold in the clutch to do that even though the bike is off?

i know how to ride a motocross bike, a trial bike, (even though the pretty much the same except for aggression) and a speedway bike, i know how to ride lots of bikes except for a road bike and im just checking it out just to make sure. im saving up for a road bike right now cuz all i need to do is get to my job fast not really carrying everything except for a light bag. thanks man.

"If you didn't know where the accelerator was, you really shouldn't try to ride a bike". Amen to that! ROFL!
Love how you add some arrogant humor, that's what makes vids, especially tutorial vids, worth watching.
Buying a Ninja 650 next week. Already know how to ride, just wanted to see what you were telling people. Good vid.

I just got a dirt bike, the principles (e.g. clutch control) are exactly the same. It helped a lot.

Nice motorcycle if I get one I want one like that

The only sad part is you have to have a car license first, when driving them is different even if the same road rules apply. Hopefully I can get my license soon so I can start on my bike permit. I have a 1998 Kawasaki Ninja 600r as my starter bike, can't wait to get going.

@13mordeth

Is normal to stall your bike often especially at stops and lights? Today was my 3 day riding and I'm getting better but I stalling like at every 5 stops and its frustrating. Does every beginner have this problem, Or am i just bad?
TokyoThai 3 months ago
@TokyoThai ya man you have to get used to it. it will take about a month to get use to then ull get the hang of it

Help!

DoubleStack13 3 months ago
@evilazneddy It's a 2006 model of Kawasaki Ninja 650r/ER-6f
Amplifier800 3 months ago
@Amplifier800 Actually it's an 2008 ninja 650R...Metallic Diablo black...It's the bike I want :'(
GeturOwn 3 months ago
@GeturOwn This video was uploaded in early 2007, so I don't think it's a 2008 model.....
Amplifier800 3 months ago
@Amplifier800 Well the 2006 has a silver belly while the 2008 is all black like the one in the video....That's really the only major difference I would say (the cosmetics). Soooo it's probably a special 2006 because once I googled 2006 ninja 650r to double check it does have some like the one in the video AND like the stock one I am talking about with the large silver on the belly as well....So now I am thinking it's a 2006 since once I watched the video again I noticed several silver parts...
GeturOwn 3 months ago
@Amplifier800 ...which aren't on the 2008 and especially since your comment is right...the video was made in 2007 EARLY so I must admit that I just saw a black ninja 650R and got ahead of myself...But the lacking of the silver belly completely through me off too since I didn't know 2006 offered one like in the video without it...XD *sighs* well you learn something new everyday! :3

@evilazneddy It's a 2008 ninja 650R metallic diablo black..I know because that's the exact bike I've been saving for...XD
GeturOwn 3 months ago
@evilazneddy Damn now that I look closer I do believe it is a special 2006 without the silver belly :/ My bad these bikes just do things to my mind and I can't think straight XD

if we didnt know where the throttle was isnt that why were watching this to learn to ride a bike?
IXxBossxXI 3 months ago
@IXxBossxXI Nobody buys a motorcycle not knowing where the throttle is
zuveehAP 3 months ago
@zuveehAP he didnt say anything about buying. he said we shouldnt be WATCHING unless we know where it is.
IXxBossxXI 3 months ago
@IXxBossxXI Why would you be watching this video if you're not riding/going to ride a bike?
zuveehAP 3 months ago
This is the accelerator. If you didn't know where the accelerator was...you really shouldn't try to ride a bike xD

CarFinatic1 3 months ago
additional info... i have a car and this bike will probably never reach 5th 6th gear, and will never in hell go on a interstate in houston tx on a bike, im a very smart dude and i know for fact that inexperienced bikers dont hurt them selves or kill themselves doing what you cant will...
Da504Assassin 3 months ago
i need honest help, ive never rode a sport bike in life, of course my first bike of choice is a bussa, why? they look awesome... every thread online bikers are like not a good idea,hell no!, and other jk's... every guy i see on youtube with a bussa are fucking going 5th 6th gear! im no expert but if your doing 150 on a 600cc bike you will do just as much damage as going 200 on bussa... so wats the difference?
