Hey kiddios; if you dig this spool, make sure an' check out some hot rockabilly originals right off the press at rockabillygone all one word. Check it, Hep Kats and Gals. Oh, and Gee, please comment if you stop by.
In real life.."Captain Kangaroo"(Bob Keeshan)would never show"Dinky Duck',"Heckle & Jeckle" or "Mighty Mouse"on his educational kids tv show..he'd show'Tom Terrific"or"Lairet Sam".
I've always enjoyed drive-ins and am old enough to remember when some movies were specifically made for the "drive-in circuit." Today, whatever's showing at your local multi-plex is also showing at the drive-in.
Even though it was only a film-strip projector I loved my Remco drive-in until I took to school for show and tell (3rd grade). It was embarrassing that no one could see the pictures in broad daylight! At one point I asked my dad if we could move the film fast enough to make it look like a movie. I was so impressed when he predicted I would only see a blur. How could he possibly know? (LOL!)
One of my all time Toys growing up in the 50s and 60s. God, I spent HOURS with this thing! It projected the film strips perfectly onto the screen. It really gave me the Drive In Vibe, especially at night! Today's kids would probably find this a boring toy, but back then it was DA BOMB!
Remco had a small city of car-oriented action. Barney's Auto Factory was the best, but Mr. Kelly's Car Wash was perfect for the Felix Unger in all of us.
Santa brought this drive-in to me for Christmas 1959 and for several years I used it with my Lionel train layout. Its years later now, and I still have my 027 train AND my Movieland Drive-In.
This was what I most wanted Christmas of 1959. I remember being shocked at how small it was when I unwrapped it under the tree. The filmstrips were black and white, with two 'shows' split on opposite directions on a strip of 8mm film (therefore less than 4mm for each frame). The cars were a letdown, they were exactly the same as the cheap tin cars with little metal wheels you could buy in plastic bags in any drug store at the time. The bulb was an ordinary flashlight bulb. St

I've seen several of these on Ebay over the years, but the price always gets too high for me. I'd love to have one, though.
Thanks for commenting.
