I too would like a copy of this event. Had the pleasure of watching it at Kyoshi Van Clief's Spanish Harlem Apt. a couple of years ago. Haven't seen him in awhile and would like to connect again being that I am presently involved in a new Fight League and would like his input.
No. It is senseless to be fooled into thinking that set patterns which are common in traditional martial arts systems are in any way effective or useful to you in a real fight which is "not fixed" You wouldn't understand
and you think Traditional martial arts is Real fighting? Ufc might have certain rules like no blows to the groin, but Training in a Mixed martial art that deals with all ranges of attack/defence and teaches them to fight by "fighting" is more Realistic and beneficial than training in an art that doesn't put you through any of that. It is like trying to learn how to swim and going through the movements without actually jumping in the water... therefore you will not be efficient
@Linux4UnMe you talk about real fighting, have you any idea? mma, ufc, traditional martial arts, can not prepare you for the streets of today, you have kids 14 yrs old carrying guns, knives, what you gonna do armbar? before or after you get your head blown off? what you need is courtesy, integrity, perserverance, self control, indomnitable spirit, walking around with an attitude, is gonna get you killed, thinking you the man gonna get you shot in the face, wake up! dont kid urselves!
now you are just talking nonsense and outside of the topic discussed. The topic "was" about traditional martial arts vs mma vs street" Ofcoarse it is a different ball game if somebody has a friggin gun pointed at you... That doesn't change any of my points... I have never stated anybody should go around with an attitude looking for trouble... ofcoarse that will get you killed mate. You are blowing the Topic out of proportion with what if this? what if that......
@Linux4UnMe tma vs mma is a stupid topic, firstly mma is all traditional, boxing, wrestling, muay thai, they are as traditional as they get, muay thai is over 3000 years old, boxing is ancient, wrestling is the oldest sport in the world, if that aint traditional enough for you then i dont know what is!!! i can tell you for a fact every martial art works, if you have the right instructor/sensei/coach, mma is a great sport, then you have the martial side, theres no reason why you cant train both.
@Linux4UnMe also mma use kettlebells to train, more recently clubells, do you have any idea how traditional these tools are, clubells were and still are used in india today, okinawa have similar stone lever weights, the same with kettlebells, all these ideas and training methods are all just coming back into play, alot of martial arts have lost base with there roots, but the original training methods still exist, dont look at the differences, look for the similarities, theyve always been there.
@singhakabuttar This is some of the history you haven't been exposed to,ur martial arts were originally named montu by the ancient Kemetians now called Egyptians, they were the first to develope this training style which later was introduced to the asians and they just perfected it.Check out my page or Kemetnu page and look for the vid that addresses this subject!
I saw this show when it was originally shown in 1998 and I have been trying to get a copy for years. The masters and grandmasters on the stage are phenomenal. Can you refer me to a source or is it possible to purchase a copy from you?
@belanfonte9 Ahati kilindi Iyi (Tamerrian Institute) was honoured at this event. He's a good friend of Wesley Snipes. Ive just seen brother Kilindi in the UK’s, Martial Arts Illustrated magazine (july 2010). It's a nice interview. African fighting arts don’t get good media coverage like Asian arts do. In fact, most people think martial arts is only an Asian thing. Africans and Europeans have their own arts.

@Linux4UnMe a real fight just takes place in the street with no rules or limitations.. You do what you have to do to survive. That's what I meant.
